Pink Tutu Blog London: #630 – Friday 2008-09-26 - A Pink Tutu Day in London!

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your Pink Tutu blogger, and I’m so thrilled to be back with another post from my London adventures. This week I'm feeling extra bubbly, partly due to my amazing trip here, but mostly thanks to my stunning new pink tutu. It's just the right shade of pink – a touch of bubblegum with a hint of vintage rose, perfect for exploring London!

So, as you know, I took the train down to London – my absolute favourite way to travel! Nothing beats settling into a comfy carriage, enjoying the scenery, and feeling the excitement build as we approach the city. It’s almost as fun as spinning around in my tutu!

London on Friday – Let’s Go!

I’ve got the perfect itinerary for a day trip to London:

Morning: My day started at London’s historic Victoria Station. This iconic building was built in the 1800s, and its beautiful architecture is enough to get your day off to a fabulously elegant start! And with so many shops and cafes inside the station, I had no excuse not to indulge in a cheeky scone and cuppa with my pink tutu and a fluffy pink scarf!

Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House: Then it was on to Covent Garden. As you know, I am obsessed with ballet, and what could be better than watching the professionals? I managed to grab last-minute tickets for the Royal Ballet. I swear, you could practically feel the excitement in the air as we took our seats in the stunning auditorium! Tonight, I’m seeing The Sleeping Beauty, which just screams ballerina glamour!

Afternoon: Shopping Bliss in Soho

I can't talk about London without mentioning its incredible shopping. The famous Soho area is literally my haven. My first stop was the Burberry flagship store – oh, my! Those elegant trench coats and fabulous scarves were calling my name. I couldn't resist picking up a gorgeous pink Burberry scarf – I knew it would look perfect with my pink tutu! And after Burberry, there's Liberty London. The beautiful fabrics and elegant design of this department store always inspires me. It was like stepping into a dreamland, but with fabulous shoes, handbags, and stationery. (And, let's be honest, I bought a few little things, naturally!)

Evening:

Shakespeare's Globe For a change of pace after all the shopping and ballet, it was on to the Globe Theatre where I finally got to see Hamlet. Yes, that Hamlet. My bestie (who is obsessed with Shakespeare) was the one who pushed me to go. It wasn’t quite the ballet, but it was thrilling in a different way, and a great experience for any arts-lover. We wandered back along the South Bank afterwards, stopping for a bite to eat and enjoying the twinkling lights of the River Thames.

What’s Hot this Week in London!

I try to always find some unique or exciting events to fit in while I’m in town, and this week I was in luck!

  • Art Deco Glamour: This week there was an incredible exhibit on Art Deco at the Victoria and Albert Museum. You know, I adore the sleek, stylish designs and bold colours of the Art Deco period – think silver and chrome with geometric patterns. It really inspired me!

  • Fashion at the V&A: My love for all things fashion led me to the V&A’s exhibition, Fashioning a Nation: Britain, 1790–1840. The collection was incredible, from gowns with silk trains to those iconic puff-sleeves – absolute fashion-heaven!

  • Live Music on the South Bank: The Southbank Centre was in full swing this weekend with the Meltdown Festival – they had a host of incredible musical acts – blues, jazz, and everything in-between. The energy on the South Bank was just electrifying, and it was amazing to see how many people were enjoying the live music!

My Pink Tutu Look Today

No blog post about London would be complete without talking about my fashion choices!

This morning I went for a chic and understated look with a simple cream lace top paired with high-waisted, black velvet trousers. I chose my favourite ballerina shoes with black ribbons, adding a touch of playfulness, and then, of course, my bright pink tutu, for a pop of colour! This made my outfit extra eye-catching as I walked around Covent Garden.

For the afternoon’s shopping adventures, I kept things a little more relaxed. A bright pink cotton blouse tucked into my favourite black jeans – you can never go wrong with black and pink! A dash of vibrant fuchsia lipstick and I was ready to explore Soho.

And, finally, for my evening theatre experience, I chose a chic and comfortable midi dress with a fitted bodice and flowing skirt, made in a light pink silk. It felt sophisticated and elegant – just the perfect outfit for Shakespeare's Globe! The look was finished off with my pink scarf, and of course, the perfect ballet flats.

Pink Tutu Thoughts for Friday

I’m always trying to think of ways to get more people dancing and rocking the pink tutu, so here’s my little Friday thought:

We need more “pink tutu moments” in our lives! Those little moments that make us smile, laugh, and twirl like there's no tomorrow. Don’t just dream about them – grab life by the tutu, jump into your pink one, and dance like nobody's watching!

I’ve definitely had plenty of pink tutu moments today, and London feels like the perfect city to capture those magical moments in!

Love and tutus,

Emma
