Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #631)

Hello lovelies!

It's Friday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog post, and this time I'm coming to you live from the fabulous city of London! 🎉

This week, I've been absolutely buzzing because I packed my pink tutu and set off on a whirlwind adventure to the capital, all by train, of course! I love train journeys – there's just something so romantic about chugging through the countryside, watching the scenery whizz past and dreaming up all sorts of adventures.

Speaking of adventures, I've been making the most of every moment in London. There's just so much to see and do! And as usual, I've been wearing my pink tutu everywhere – I mean, why blend in when you can stand out and spread the tutu love? 💖

But enough about my slightly eccentric outfit (which, let's be honest, is practically my uniform these days!), let me fill you in on all the pink-tastic things I've been up to!

Friday Fun in London

Right, so where to start? Well, I arrived in London in the morning, my heart filled with anticipation. First things first – I needed a spot of afternoon tea! What’s a trip to London without a quintessentially British tradition?

I headed straight to the Ritz - you know, just the Ritz! 🤭 It's pure London glam and I felt right at home swirling my pink tulle skirt under the magnificent chandeliers! The sandwiches were divine, the scones were light as a feather, and the tea was simply perfect! It was like a scene out of a fairytale - truly magical!

After the Ritz, it was off to the Royal Opera House for an evening performance of Swan Lake! Honestly, I could watch ballet for hours. It was an absolutely breathtaking performance, and my tutu was positively twirling with excitement. 💖 I just love the way that every move on stage tells a story, and the sheer grace of the dancers. It’s truly captivating. And the beautiful costumes - swoon! I spent the entire interval admiring the elegant gowns and the stunning feather boas!

The whole evening felt like something out of a dream, but even dreams have to end. Sadly, all good things must come to an end - even the most wonderful performances. I took one last longing glance at the beautiful Royal Opera House and, clutching my programme with the pink tutu bookmark I’d specially bought (it was all very sophisticated!) I made my way to my hotel to get ready for the next day’s adventures!

Saturday Shopping and Strolling

You know what makes London such a perfect weekend getaway? The shops! It's the best place in the world to shop, and my bank account was definitely feeling a bit apprehensive about my plans for Saturday morning! 😂

Firstly, a visit to Harrods was absolutely mandatory! The sheer extravagance of the place made my jaw drop! From designer handbags to crystal chandeliers, the place is bursting with luxury. You haven’t truly lived until you’ve stepped into that glorious food hall! The cheese counter - oh my goodness! It's a cheese lover's paradise! And the cakes! Every colour, every flavour imaginable! I just wanted to sample it all!

With a little box of irresistible treats tucked under my arm (I went for a tiny macaroon - don't want to overdo it, you know!), I made my way to Selfridges – it was almost like Harrods' best friend! 😂 I had the best time browsing the departments - from the stunning jewellery to the amazing fashion, everything is simply fantastic. And can we talk about the windows?! So innovative, so creative, so inspiring! I swear I was tempted to stand outside for hours and simply soak it all in.

Later that day, after stopping for the most divine cream tea (oh how I love afternoon tea!), I spent the evening enjoying a spectacular West End show - it was called "Matilda." Now, if you've never seen it, it’s brilliant. You just have to see it - I promise you, it will be the highlight of your trip to London!

Sunday Souvenirs and Saying Goodbye

As much as I hate to admit it, even a Pink Tutu whirlwind needs to slow down and say goodbye at some point. Sunday morning came around so quickly, I could hardly believe it. It felt like I'd just arrived!

Still, a girl's gotta shop, right? So, after a delicious breakfast of kippers and tea (well, you do get spoiled on a weekend trip), I took a stroll down Oxford Street. It's one of the best streets for shopping and I couldn't leave without a few souvenir picks.

What else to bring home but something pink and girly? I’d already got my usual “pink tutu” souvenirs - a pink tutu keychain and a mini pink tutu for my purse, of course. But, what I was really looking for this time was a good vintage pink silk scarf, and lucky me, I found the perfect one! Now, my London souvenir hunting skills are unmatched, I must say. But don’t tell my Mum that, it was a surprise present. It's definitely one of those little things that makes me smile, even back home in Derbyshire. It's a reminder of my London adventure and a little reminder that, yes, life is truly about the little things.

And speaking of things that make me smile… have you seen the lovely London Eye? Standing by the Thames, the sun setting in the sky behind it, the iconic landmark glittering against the cityscape… I swear it gives me goosebumps every time! I can never get enough of that sight. It truly feels like you’re on top of the world!

Back to Derbyshire... But London Calls Me Back!

After my fabulous weekend, it was time to board the train back to Derbyshire and leave the pink wonderland behind me. It's hard to say goodbye, but the Derbyshire countryside is always a welcome sight too - plus, my Mum makes the most fantastic cream tea - it rivals the best places in London, I tell you. But...

I just know that I'll be back in London again soon, with my tutu, of course! There's so much more I want to see and do!

In the meantime, I'll be living vicariously through my pink-tutu memories and sharing all my London adventures with you here on the blog every Friday!

So until next time, lovelies, remember - you can never have too much pink in your life! And, never ever stop dreaming of a tutu! 💖

Lots of love and glitter,

Emma xx
