Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #678 - Friday 2009-08-28: London Calling! 🩰🌸

Hello lovelies! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another London adventure, straight from the pages of my Pink Tutu Blog! 🎉 This week, I took a spin up north from sunny Derbyshire, exchanging rolling hills and sheep for the bustle and glamour of London. You'll never believe what I've got in store for you… so hold onto your hats! 👒

Tutu-ing on the Train!

My journey began with a whirl on the train! It's my absolute favourite mode of travel, and of course, I had to dress for the occasion. Think chic, comfy, and with a dash of pink, naturally. 🦩 My favourite pair of cherry red platform heels paired perfectly with my dreamy, pale pink polka-dot skirt. Of course, my trusty tutu adorned the ensemble! This one, a delightful shade of petal pink with sparkling tulle, provided a graceful twirl for every bump and turn of the journey. 😉

Hello London!

As the train steamed into the iconic King's Cross Station, I knew I was in for a treat. The vibrant energy, the blend of old and new architecture, it just gets my heart aflutter. This was my third London visit this year - I am so smitten with this city, I just can’t resist its charms!

Ballet on a Budget: The Sadler's Wells

Right away, I headed for my first must-see destination: Sadler's Wells Theatre. Now, you may not know this, but Sadler’s Wells has a heart as big as its stage, because they host some fantastically affordable "cheap seats" for those of us who love the arts but may be a little budget-conscious! (Like your truly! 😅).

For just £12 (which is a steal, my darlings!), I managed to nab a fantastic view of a stunning modern ballet performance by the glorious Rambert Dance Company. The choreography was mesmerising, filled with graceful leaps, captivating storytelling, and moments that had my heart soaring. The programme was modern, edgy, and truly inspiring. Honestly, there were tears in my eyes by the end, but it was a fantastic feeling. They are always innovative, and my tutu felt just the ticket to complement my dance of delight throughout!

Tea Time with a Twist

Next up, it was time for a touch of British charm. Afternoon tea in London is simply a MUST, and this time I wanted a twist on the traditional. I found the cutest little tearoom nestled in a corner of Kensington Gardens, and ooh, did it deliver! Instead of classic sandwiches, we had the most delightful selection of mini open-faced cucumber and cream cheese tarts, dainty salmon-dill blinis, and scrumptious tiny cheese and tomato quiches. And for the pièce de résistance: the cake stand. It featured a delectable selection of strawberry cupcakes, chocolate hazelnut biscotti, and delicate macaroons. Of course, the tea itself was simply divine, a pot of their house blend accompanied by freshly squeezed lemon and a sprinkle of sugar for me. Pure decadence!

Pink Paradise: Fashion Shopping in Knightsbridge

You know my weakness, don't you? 😉 Knightsbridge, with its array of luxury stores, was my next stop. I can’t resist browsing the boutiques, particularly for those pink gems. My ultimate fashion finds this time were a pair of divine ballet flats with a soft pink bow – just darling – and a chic fuchsia cashmere cardigan. Oh, and I couldn’t leave without picking up a gorgeous lavender scented hand cream for my post-shopping treat! 💅

A Night Under the Stars: Theatre at the Open Air Theatre

For the evening, I had tickets to a Shakespearean classic: “Romeo & Juliet,” performed under the stars at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park. Now, this is the ultimate summer evening out. You sit on blankets under the sky, bathed in the warm glow of the moon, with a delicious glass of Pimms. Oh, and did I mention it's also FREE on Tuesdays!? Just grab a ticket online.

The performance was utterly captivating, with the passionate actors breathing new life into the timeless tale of star-crossed lovers. There was even a beautiful moonlit dance scene where Juliet and her maid, accompanied by the string section of the orchestra, danced gracefully under the stars. Such an exquisite, elegant spectacle! I couldn't resist getting caught up in the magic. By the end, I was totally enchanted with the production, and felt the romantic air right in my heart.

A Pink-tastic Night Out: Covent Garden

The fun wasn’t over! After a little rest, I decided to head to Covent Garden. It’s always so vibrant at night, and I absolutely love how bustling it feels. It's full of street performers, food stalls, quirky little shops and fabulous restaurants! For dinner, I opted for the most adorable Italian bistro, and let’s just say, pasta always seems to find its way to my plate. For dessert, it was the sweetest little macaron shop, which boasted rows of vibrant, pink, green, and orange treats – you know how much I adore a good macaron!

Time for Bed...But a Little More London First!

After a quick tour around the Covent Garden Market, admiring the stalls with their vibrant flowers and artisan crafts, it was time for bed! It's hard to stop when there is so much beauty around every corner of this city, but eventually, I have to return home. 😴

More than just Ballet...and Everything Pink!

London is one of my favourite places in the world! Yes, there is something truly special about being there for the amazing shows and, of course, the fantastic shopping (particularly in my beloved shade, pink!) but London is much more than that! The atmosphere, the sense of history, and its friendly people, It always makes me feel so alive!

My blog is, of course, dedicated to the love of pink, to ballet, to London… to fashion and style! I believe there is beauty everywhere and everyone, and everyone deserves to find a bit of joy! Don't be shy! Share your thoughts with me.

I promise to be back with another London adventure next week - until then, stay fabulous, lovelies!

Love, Emma 💖
