Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #699 - Friday 2010-01-22 - A Pink-tastic London Adventure!

Hello lovelies! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another London blog post! This week I'm buzzing with excitement because, after a long week of rehearsals, I'm finally taking a well-deserved trip to London!

For this little escape, I'm keeping things chic and comfy. I've chosen my trusty pink tutu (of course!) layered over a black fitted jumper for that playful-yet-sophisticated vibe. I've topped it off with my favourite pink scarf and a sparkly black handbag. My feet are nestled in my trusty black ballet shoes, ready for a day of exploring.

And the best part? I'm taking the train! There's something so magical about chugging along the tracks, watching the countryside whizz past, especially when you're heading for a fabulous weekend in London! Plus, it allows me to whip out my portable makeup mirror and perfect my look - pink lipstick and a generous dusting of shimmer powder, of course!

Train Tracks and Ticking Clocks

The journey from Derbyshire to London was as smooth as a ballerina's pirouette. The train carriage was warm and inviting, perfect for reading a new ballet book (I just snagged the latest on Margot Fonteyn - so inspiring!) and watching the world go by. The train journey is always such a lovely opportunity to unwind and start dreaming about all the amazing things London has in store.

I arrived at Kings Cross Station feeling invigorated and ready to embrace the city! That classic Victorian station is just brimming with character, and I can't resist a quick spin in the rotunda. After all, who can resist a grand waltz with a stunning pink tutu in such a magnificent setting?

Pink Paradise in the City

Now, London is known for its vibrant shopping scene, and I am a big believer in treating yourself (and your wardrobe) to a little something special. First stop: the famous Liberty London. A wonderland of fabrics, colours, and beautiful things. This is definitely a shopping experience! I've found a beautiful lavender silk scarf for a touch of colour and a gorgeous pair of pink, bejewelled earrings to make me feel like a princess!

My pink-loving heart was racing as I stepped into Selfridges. From the stunning architecture to the luxurious displays, it's a shopping haven. I am all about finding treasures at the back of the store - so I'm heading straight for their designer department for a browse. This is my kind of shopping spree, where every piece is an individual statement and oozes creativity. Itā€™s a chance to truly indulge my love of unique pieces and add some extra sparkle to my already fab wardrobe!

But you know me, itā€™s not all about the glitz and glamour. I also love finding small, independent shops tucked away in hidden corners of London. These are the places with unique finds, a personal touch, and a story to tell. Iā€™m particularly excited about a vintage shop I've found on Carnaby Street called 'Retro Revival' - a gem full of hidden gems and beautiful treasures from another era.

A Touch of the Stage

After all that shopping, my mind and heart are already feeling inspired by the creativity of London. There's no better way to fuel this creative energy than with a theatre performance. I've nabbed tickets for the Royal Opera House and Iā€™m incredibly excited to be seeing ā€˜La BohĆØmeā€™. The energy of the stage and the beautiful costumes always take me right into the heart of the story! And you just know there's a beautiful pink tutu or two waiting for me on that stage.

But before the opera, I'm treating myself to a delicious high tea at Fortnum & Mason. Afternoon tea is a ritual for me. Something about delicate sandwiches, freshly baked cakes, and warm, comforting tea just melts away the worries of the world! It's a tradition, it's elegant, and of course, it's beautifully pink! I love being surrounded by the scent of tea, the delicate tinkling of china cups, and the gentle murmur of conversation. Itā€™s a sensory treat, perfect for starting an evening full of ballet-inspired joy.

A Pink-tastic Ballet Experience

Tonight, it's all about ballet! After that high tea, Iā€™m heading to Sadlerā€™s Wells to see a contemporary ballet piece that has everyone talking. Iā€™m not one to judge, I love a variety of styles, but of course, it is essential for there to be at least a hint of a pink tutu. Thereā€™s always something enchanting about the fluid movement of bodies, the delicate steps, and the expressive emotions portrayed through dance.

But before the performance, I have to get ready! You know how it goes. A quick shower to wash away the day, my signature pink lipstick and a little glitter to add that touch of extra sparkle. I will also be adding my 'Dancing on Air' fragrance. Just a little bit of floral musk to add a hint of ā€œmagical ballerinaā€ to the air.

Dancing Dreams in London

With each trip to London, my inspiration grows and Iā€™m reminded why itā€™s such a beautiful city, full of vibrant energy and artistic passion. Whether itā€™s admiring a ballet performance, browsing the beautiful displays at Liberty London, or finding vintage treasures in a charming corner shop, London always manages to surprise and delight me.

So, if you find yourself in this dazzling city, don't forget to let your pink tutu fly! Take some time to be whimsical, discover hidden treasures, and celebrate the power of pink, and above all, dance to the beat of your own heart!

Outfit Inspiration

I love sharing my outfit details with you. After all, I think every day is a reason to put on a pretty outfit and strut your stuff with confidence. So here's a rundown of what I'm wearing:

  • Tutu: This beautiful light pink tutu is from a lovely shop on Covent Garden called 'The Tutu Shop', it's hand-stitched and I love its dreamy, fairy tale feel.
  • Jumper: A soft, black cashmere jumper, because I'm all about staying comfortable while looking stylish.
  • Scarf: A beautiful lavender silk scarf from Liberty, perfect for adding a pop of colour.
  • Bag: My black glitter clutch, it's a vintage treasure and sparkles like a disco ball!
  • Shoes: My trusty black ballet shoes - these ones are from Bloch, they're comfy and stylish!
  • Lipstick: I'm using MAC's 'Please Me' pink lipstick, which adds a touch of soft pink to my lips.

Iā€™m loving the trend for bold pink this season! Don't forget, itā€™s all about finding pieces you love and embracing your unique style.
