Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! - #732

Hello my gorgeous readers! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another exciting edition of Pink Tutu Blog. And guess what?! This week I'm in London! Yep, I took the train up from Derbyshire and am feeling all giddy and excited to explore this amazing city in all its fabulous glory.

I know what you're thinking - "Emma, how on earth did you get to London this week? Isn't that a bit pricey for your ballerina budget?" And you're absolutely right. But this trip was a gift to myself! I've been saving up from all those beautiful performances and dance workshops, and I thought it was high time I treated myself to a little London adventure. After all, this city inspires my dancing, my fashion choices, and frankly, my entire way of life!

So what are my plans for this Friday in London? Oh darling, there's a lot to do! I'm going to be a complete London tourist today, seeing all the iconic sights and indulging in all the delights the city has to offer. I'm envisioning cobblestone streets, big red buses, afternoon tea, perhaps even a glimpse of Buckingham Palace! Oh, and did I mention that I’ve already found the most gorgeous vintage shop, tucked away in a hidden courtyard? My eyes have already started twitching with the desire to unleash some serious fashion therapy, haha!

The London Outfit

First, let's talk about the ensemble I’ve carefully crafted for this London outing. You know I adore a bit of colour and fun, so I’m channeling all things quintessentially Emma:

  • Pink Tutu: It wouldn't be Pink Tutu Blog without a tutu, now, would it? Today’s choice is a gorgeous bubblegum pink number, just the right length for waltzing through the streets. It twirls beautifully!
  • Silk Blouse: This pretty pastel peach silk blouse with delicate lace trims adds a touch of elegance, paired with my signature tutu it’s a perfectly balanced outfit!
  • White Ballet Flats: Can a girl ever go wrong with a classic pair of ballet flats? They're comfy, chic, and go with everything. Especially pink!
  • Floral Cardigan: The London weather can be a bit unpredictable, so I’ve got a bright, floral-patterned cardigan ready to ward off any chills while still remaining on-trend!
  • Beret: A must for every stylish Londoner, this charming black beret adds a touch of Parisian flair to my ensemble, don’t you think?

And of course, no outfit is complete without a little something sparkly. I'm sporting a delicate pink pearl necklace, perfect for adding a touch of glamour and highlighting my natural pink-tinted glow, hahaha! I’m also wearing a pink-and-gold vintage brooch that I picked up on my trip – how charmingly vintage, no?

Train Travels

The journey up to London was such a fun adventure in itself. I took the train, of course! There’s nothing I love more than snuggling up in a comfy seat, gazing out the window at the changing countryside. It’s so calming and provides ample opportunity for creative inspiration. And I do love a good old-fashioned train ride, it adds to the charm! It always gives me that classic fairytale feeling.

I have to tell you, though, it was impossible not to attract some curious gazes with my pink tutu and ballet flats on the train. Some people were a little bit confused, but others gave me the most genuine smiles. It just goes to show, you never know who might get inspired by your personal style.

Fashion Inspiration in the City

One thing I always find so inspiring about London is the fashion. Everyone has their own unique style and isn't afraid to express themselves. And it's such a wonderful blend of classic, modern, quirky and everything in between. I’m already feeling a little bit energized and excited to try new things, which you can just bet I will, watch this space! I can just see my Pinterest feed being overflowing with exciting London inspired outfits, ideas and outfits!

You'll probably see me roaming around in vintage shops and peeking at window displays, or just admiring the eclectic street fashion. I bet I’ll end up with a bag of interesting vintage finds, wouldn't you say?

London Theatres & Shows

Today I am taking myself to see a matinee at one of London’s famous theatres. Oh, London theatre! You really can’t get any better for an exhilarating experience.

You've heard of my ballet performances – well, there’s something incredibly magical about theatre and London is where I have experienced the best shows ever.

Today I’ll be heading to see a production I have been excited to see for months! A production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ a timeless classic with a haunting score, spectacular sets and costumes, oh my word! I have no doubt that it’ll be incredible.

Later, I plan to have dinner at one of London’s delightful restaurants - I might even have fish and chips! There’s just something special about London fish and chips! I plan to enjoy a good, hearty British meal as a treat.

And maybe… just maybe… I’ll be tempted by some afternoon tea.

This Week's Pick - Ballet in London

This week’s pick is going to be about ballet, and not just any ballet. We are in London. So this week's pick has to be The Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House! It’s something quite special. The performances at the Royal Opera House, particularly by The Royal Ballet, are world renowned. Just recently they staged ‘Swan Lake’. My oh my, a captivating and breathtaking production of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful music set to provocative choreography. The costumes, the dancing, the whole experience is absolutely incredible! I wish everyone could experience a performance at The Royal Ballet - the energy in the theatre is so tangible, the feeling of sheer delight and awe is contagious and makes you want to twirl just as fast as the ballerinas!

Pink Tutu Fashion Advice

One more thing, I'm absolutely going to be keeping an eye out for those iconic red London busses – you just can't go to London without a photo opportunity with one. Especially when you’re wearing pink.

But speaking of red, let’s talk colour. Why not try some bright and bold colours today? Go for some bold red lips, a fabulous fuchsia bag, or maybe some ruby-red heels. You don’t always need pink to stand out.

Pink is great – but any vibrant colours and styles will help you really stand out in a city full of colour and character! If you try anything out I would love to see! Don’t forget to tag your images on social media #pinktutublog.

Remember to always be yourself and to embrace what makes you unique. I believe everyone should wear a pink tutu, but if pink isn’t your thing, embrace your own bold personality, your favourite colour and show off the world what you've got.

Stay inspired, my dears! Until next week's blog.

Lots of love, Emma
