Pink Tutu Blog London #742: Friday Frolics in the Big Smoke!

Hello my darling tututistas! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind week in the capital and bursting to share all the delights of my London adventure with you. As always, my Friday blog is dedicated to all things pink, fabulous and, of course, tutu-tastic!

This week, I traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for the concrete jungle of London town, travelling by train as per usual (there's something so romantic about hurtling through the English countryside, especially when you're wearing a fluffy pink tutu โ€“ believe me!). I'm fortunate enough to be able to fund my travel exploits with my ballet performances โ€“ a twirling life it is! After all, how can one resist the opportunity to visit this wondrous city, a hotbed of theatre, fashion, and dance?

London Calling: A Day in the City

Friday's agenda was packed with everything a girl in a pink tutu could desire. First things first, a delicious breakfast at a charming cafe, where I indulged in the most scrumptious avocado on toast and a steaming cuppa (it wouldn't be a London trip without a bit of classic British fare, now would it?). I couldn't resist adding a dash of pink with my new bright pink floral hair scarf โ€“ it just screamed 'London chic'!

After my brunch break, it was off to the glorious West End! The lights were already twinkling, casting an enchanting glow over the bustling streets. This Friday was special, my loves โ€“ it was opening night for The Lion King! With its incredible costumes, vibrant set design, and truly unforgettable performances, The Lion King had me totally spellbound. Seeing that show is always a must-do in London, and this time was no different. My heart felt lighter and brighter as I walked out into the starry night.

Speaking of bright, have you seen the London Christmas lights yet? I had to peek at them, and oh, what a sight! It was a spectacle of dazzling colours, sparkling baubles and whimsical displays. The streets of Oxford Street were bathed in a festive glow, making it impossible to not get caught up in the Christmas spirit.

A Tutu-licious Shopping Spree

But the day wasn't just about the arts and dazzling displays โ€“ no, no, my dearest friends, no day in London is complete without a spot of shopping. After all, this city is a haven for fashion enthusiasts. This time I set my sights on Covent Garden, that haven of quirky boutiques and stylish cafes. I couldn't resist snagging a beautiful silk scarf emblazoned with the London skyline โ€“ it's perfect for adding a touch of London flair to my everyday outfits. I also spotted a divine pink fedora, a delightful addition to my collection. It's all about making a statement with your outfit, wouldn't you agree?

Speaking of statements, did you catch me on BBC News this week? I know, I was just as surprised as you are! They interviewed me for their piece on the rise of ballet-inspired fashion. I explained to them how wearing a pink tutu isn't just about looking cute, it's a celebration of creativity, empowerment, and a reminder to dance through life. I even taught the interviewer a few ballet moves โ€“ he didn't half look a bit awkward but hey, it was for a good cause!

Dancing the Night Away

But London is about more than just pretty clothes, theatre, and Christmas lights. The city also boasts a phenomenal dance scene. And guess what, my little ballerinas? This Friday, I was lucky enough to catch a performance of the Royal Ballet at the magnificent Royal Opera House. They danced Swan Lake, and oh my, those swans were magical. It was utterly mesmerising! The grace, the precision, the emotion โ€“ I was left completely captivated. As soon as the performance ended, my own tutu-clad legs were itching for some action. So I popped into the dance studio just down the road. They have these awesome drop-in classes. It's such a fun way to get in a ballet workout and brush up on your technique.

Back to Derbyshire

The weekend is approaching fast, which means it's time to head back to Derbyshire, my peaceful little corner of the world. But don't worry, my darlings, I'll be back next Friday with more pink, fabulous, London-filled blog goodness! Stay tuned!

Until then, dance your hearts out, and never, ever forget: a pink tutu can take you anywhere. You can follow along with me on Instagram @EmmaPinkTutu!

Happy Friday, my lovelies!

With twirls and smiles,

Emma xxx
