Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2010-12-17 - A London Whirlwind in Pink! 🩰💕
Hey darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back with another London adventure! This is post number 746 on the www.pink-tutu.com website - how exciting!
The London fog may have settled in, but my spirits are absolutely blooming! This Friday found me hurtling towards the capital, the train journey always a blissful escape into a world of fashion magazines and daydreams. It's hard not to be in awe of the sheer beauty of a steam train thundering through the countryside – my love affair with trains never ceases! And I'm so glad my tutu journey has taken me here. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu London blog without a train trip, would it?
Today was all about embracing the magic of London! And my favourite way to explore? With a vibrant pink tutu swirling around me, of course! I truly believe that wearing pink tutus makes the world a more joyful place – a vision of pure, innocent delight! I know it's a bit of an outrageous fashion statement, but there's something truly magical about swirling and twirling in a tutu, embracing the power of expressing yourself freely, and letting the world see your true joy.
London Delights: Theatreland & The Christmas SpiritAs the train chugged into Kings Cross Station, a thrill coursed through me. It's always so exciting to step out into London – the bustling energy, the architectural wonders, and the endless opportunities for a fashionable gal like me to twirl into! My heart was filled with anticipation, as always, ready to capture every delicious moment for you lovely Pink Tutu readers.
My first stop was none other than Covent Garden, that magnificent haven for theatre, opera, and all things enchanting. This week, I was absolutely spoilt for choice, with performances like 'The Nutcracker' at The Royal Opera House, 'An Inspector Calls' at the playhouse, and a whole host of smaller shows bursting with character and originality.
Now, I'm not going to lie – I am a hopeless theatre addict! From grand opera to tiny intimate plays, I devour everything! It’s an essential part of my London experience. The energy, the music, the performers – all of it makes my soul sing!
Today, I took in a stunning rendition of 'Carmen', at the Coliseum, a show brimming with vibrant drama, passionate romance, and glorious music. I mean, who wouldn’t fall head over heels for that sweeping score?! I just couldn’t resist capturing a few pictures with my phone - it would be a shame to miss this amazing costume detail, which was so fittingly inspired by a matador’s bullfighting suit – how striking! And don't get me started on the swirling flamenco-style choreography - absolutely captivating!
Christmas Spirit in Full SwingOf course, what’s a London blog in December without mentioning the magic of Christmas?! 🎄✨
From the twinkly fairy lights draping Covent Garden Market, to the elaborate Christmas trees adorned with festive ornaments, every corner was dripping in cheer! London knows how to celebrate Christmas!
And just imagine the festive atmosphere at the Christmas markets around Covent Garden – an absolute feast for the senses! The aroma of roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and the sweetest pastries just filled the air. And all around, carols filled the air, their notes floating on the cold air like snowflakes! The air was buzzing with holiday magic and excited shoppers browsing through a selection of festive goods, from handcrafted jewellery to colourful Christmas baubles.
The Christmas market brought back fond memories from my childhood in Derbyshire – all that bustling energy and delicious aroma of gingerbread. Oh, those gingerbread houses – I just had to snap a picture of one. So nostalgic!
But my love for pink made the market a special kind of fun. I mean, can you imagine the joy of finding pink baubles to decorate the Christmas tree? And my favourite, the vibrant pink scarves woven from wool – pure enchantment!
But of course, this was about more than just indulging my love for the colour pink! My mission is to spread the pink tutu love throughout the world, one pink tutu at a time!
You know me, always up for a challenge! My goal for December is to get at least 50 Londoners rocking a pink tutu – how exciting! We’ll be posting our successes throughout December, so watch this space!
And with that, it was time to explore another favourite part of London, one that has absolutely captivated me ever since I first discovered its hidden wonders!
The Enchanting World of Ballet: The Royal Opera HouseThe Royal Opera House. It simply oozes elegance, a grand edifice built to inspire and enthrall. Every visit to The Royal Opera House fills me with a thrill. This iconic building feels alive with the spirit of dance. It's just bursting with artistry and magic, even before the curtain goes up!
My latest visit was to watch 'Swan Lake' - a ballet I've fallen head over heels for. There's something so captivating about this timeless masterpiece; the dramatic story, the enchanting choreography, the poignant emotion… It just fills my soul with beauty!
And then, there’s the sheer magic of the theatre itself – the velvet seats, the ornate chandelier, the hush as the audience waits in anticipation for the curtain to rise… The energy builds to an extraordinary climax. It is an exquisite and exhilarating experience that keeps drawing me back!
Dancing my way through London 🩰Of course, my London trip wasn't complete without embracing the art of dance itself! My favourite ballet studio in the heart of London, The Ballet School, hosted a special workshop just for my pink tutu enthusiasts – yes, you heard me right! The studio itself is simply beautiful, with big windows that look out on the bustling streets below and the most elegant ballet barres.
After a quick warm-up, it was time for some seriously inspiring moves. And let me tell you – a ballet class, accompanied by some lovely music and surrounded by other pink-loving tutu fans, just feels fabulous. This was truly an unforgettable moment of dance, filled with joyous pirouettes, effortless grand jetés, and even a bit of joyful, sassy bourrée! I loved seeing all the aspiring ballerinas dressed in their pink tutus – it made my heart sing! And with every plie and tendu, it felt like the London skyline had suddenly bloomed into a glorious vision of ballerina beauty!
Shopping Therapy & Pink Tutu MagicNow, what's a day in London without a little retail therapy? 🛍️
After my ballet workshop, it was time for a little shopping spree. Oxford Street - I've always adored this iconic shopping haven. With every window display and tempting store, it's simply impossible not to be swept up in the sheer delight of finding fabulous new outfits to enhance my pink tutu repertoire.
Now, as much as I love London's trendy fashion houses and stylish boutiques, my absolute favourite spot for fashion finds is a little gem called "The Vintage Dresser." This vintage haven has become my personal paradise for uncovering hidden treasures. Just yesterday, I scored the most fabulous pink velvet shrug that would be simply perfect for layering over a pink tutu! Oh, and have you ever seen such perfect ruby-red heels for a glamorous evening out? I just had to have them.
And then, just to complete the shopping spree, I found a few enchanting pieces of vintage jewellery – the kind of sparkly necklaces and elaborate bracelets that would make my pink tutus positively glimmer with Parisian flair! What else could a tutu enthusiast ask for?
The day just flew by in a blur of fabulous fashion finds, heartwarming theatre magic, and exhilarating dance moments – my tutu has definitely found its home in London! I must confess that this vibrant, beautiful city, with its countless charms, really inspires me! And for a girl who truly loves wearing a pink tutu, there really is no other place quite like it.
Oh, and before I forget - have you ever been to a pink tutu afternoon tea? Now that's truly a delicious treat!
Join me next Friday for another exciting London adventure! Until then, spread the love and keep twirling, darlings! 💖
With love,
Emma x
