Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures, Post #773 - Friday 2011-06-24

Hello my lovely lot! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back from another fabulous adventure! This week, I'm taking you with me to London! The capital city always holds such a special place in my heart, so many exciting things to see and do! I just can't get enough.

My journey began as always, in my little Derbyshire village. As the early morning sunlight streamed through my window, I knew it was time to don my pinkest outfit. A vibrant bubblegum pink tutu, teamed with a delicate white blouse, a matching pink cardigan and my trusty sparkly ballet flats. I wasn't going to let the grey drizzle dampen my spirits! I popped on a pair of adorable cat-eye sunglasses and, with a bright pink rucksack slung over my shoulder, headed out the door.

My trusty train companion for this adventure? The glorious East Midland Trains service! Always a pleasure. I love the journey to London by train. Watching the countryside whizz past is so relaxing, and it gives me a chance to sit back, take in the sights, and dream about the excitement that awaits. The journey was just a mere two and a half hours, which allowed me to catch up on all my favourite blogs and finish reading the newest book by my favourite author, Jane Austen.

I arrived at King's Cross station with a heart full of anticipation. The buzz of the city immediately surrounded me – a symphony of beeping cars, chirping birds, and chattering tourists. London, oh London, you always know how to welcome me!

First on the agenda was a visit to the legendary Covent Garden. It is such an inspiring place - the history, the architecture, and of course, the amazing Royal Opera House. It’s simply an enchanting space, filled with magic. Oh how I dreamt of being on that stage, dancing a captivating waltz beneath those magnificent chandeliers. Just picturing it made me feel twirly!

I strolled around the charming market, a whirlwind of colourful flowers, enticing cheeses, artisan bread, and tempting vintage clothing stalls. It was all a little overwhelming - such a visual feast for the senses. It is no wonder artists find inspiration here!

Next on my London itinerary was a little bit of ballet! Now, you all know I’m a massive ballet buff! The ballet studio is like a second home to me. This time I joined a drop-in class at the English National Ballet School. A great place to get my pirouette on and practice my leaps. There were so many different styles of dance - from classical ballet to contemporary to street ballet! I was so impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of everyone there.

And, speaking of street ballet, have you seen the street performance at Covent Garden?! A real treat! They really made the traditional waltz feel exciting! I watched with a little skip in my step! They were phenomenal! And what a colourful show they put on! I can't get enough of these shows - I wish I could dance like them!

After all that dancing, I deserved a treat, so I decided to head to Fortnum and Mason, one of London’s oldest and grandest department stores, for an afternoon tea. Now, you know my motto – life is too short for boring tea! So, I treated myself to a gorgeous, decadent tea service, filled with pink strawberry scones and dainty finger sandwiches. It was simply divine! The high ceilings, the chandeliers, the elegant teacups and the beautiful décor made me feel like I had stepped into a fairytale.

For my final stop of the day, I went shopping on Oxford Street! I love the buzz and atmosphere of the biggest shopping street in London. The energy there is just infectious! It’s not just the shops that appeal to me – it’s also all the gorgeous architecture! I really do enjoy walking around, enjoying the sights.

I went to all my favourite shops: Topshop, H&M, Primark, and a new one, Paperchase – I’ve been meaning to visit there forever. You could say I was living out a pink tutu girl’s dream. But it wasn't all about indulging my own inner-fashionista. This week's theme was pink, naturally, and I was determined to find a gift for a friend in Derbyshire. I scoured all of the shops, looking for something truly special - pink, of course. And I think I've found it, tucked away on a top shelf in Primark. But you'll have to wait and see what it is! I don't want to spoil the surprise!

I had such a brilliant day, full of pink tutu perfection and London charm. It really was an experience I will treasure for ages! If you're ever in London, do be sure to have a pink tutu moment! This fabulous city has so much to offer everyone. It truly is one of my favourite places in the whole wide world.

As I headed back to the train station, my heart was overflowing with joy. London never fails to inspire me, and I can't wait for my next trip. But for now, I'll just have to relive the magic through the many photos I took throughout the day! And who knows, maybe I'll see you in the pink at the next Covent Garden ballet performance? Or maybe even at the Royal Opera House!

I can’t wait to share my next London adventure with you. But for now, I bid you adieu! Until next week, keep those pink tutus twirling!

Love and sparkle,

Emma
