Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #774 - Friday, 2011-07-01 - Exploring the City of Dreams
Oh darling! London, how I adore you! You’re calling to me once more, and I've answered, hopping onto a train in Derbyshire this morning with my tutu safely nestled in my luggage. There's no better way to arrive in this city than by train - it allows me to fully immerse myself in the scenery and daydream about all the exciting adventures that await.
This Friday marks a very special day in the pink tutu calendar - the opening night of The Royal Ballet's Swan Lake! And wouldn't you know it, yours truly snagged the most divine seats in the stalls, right near the front. Oh, the anticipation is bubbling like a freshly brewed cuppa, I just can't wait to be whisked away into Tchaikovsky's magical world.
But first, darling, let's talk about today's adventure. London calls, and this girly girl is ready to explore! The plan is simple, as all good plans should be: a delightful amble around some of my favourite streets, a spot of high tea with a view, and of course, a touch of retail therapy to add some fresh delights to my wardrobe. After all, every ballerina needs her outfit inspiration, and London is a true gem for all things stylish!
The Perfect Pink Start
This morning's London debut is an absolute triumph! Stepping off the train, I found myself feeling invigorated, a sprinkle of London air whipping through my curls. The platform hummed with a joyful energy that made me practically twirl in my spot. To channel that delightful feeling, I've opted for a vibrant fuchsia dress with a tiered, flowing skirt. The ultimate London look: effortlessly stylish and ready to embrace the city's rhythm! And, of course, a bright pink tulle tutu completes the ensemble, because what else would one wear on a trip to the City of Dreams, darling?
My trusty camera is loaded and ready to capture every inspiring moment - a quintessential ballet shoe outside a flower shop, a cute pup in a tiny beret, the glorious pink neon signs that are truly my aesthetic. Speaking of aesthetic, have you seen the current window displays in Liberty’s?! Absolutely breathtaking! Think colourful, playful florals bursting with whimsical designs. This girl's heart skipped a beat!
High Tea with a View
Speaking of heart-skipping, the highlight of my London adventures was the afternoon tea at The Ritz. It was absolutely everything I had hoped for and more! Imagine, dear reader, the elegant setting, the delicate china, the aroma of freshly baked scones, and those dainty finger sandwiches - all whilst sipping perfectly brewed tea, and taking in a panoramic view of the city from their rooftop garden. Pure bliss! It felt like I had stepped into one of those classic films where romance blossoms alongside perfectly brewed tea and dainty pastries. Now, who doesn't love that?
Retail Therapy at Fortnum & Mason
No visit to London would be complete without a stop at Fortnum & Mason, a haven for discerning shoppers! My pink-loving eyes were wide with glee, browsing through aisles filled with exquisite treats, delightful homeware, and of course, a whole array of fabulous gifts and accessories! It's simply impossible to resist indulging in their decadent selection, darling, just a teensy tiny bit! But really, a tiny treat at Fortnum & Mason is practically a must!
I picked up the most stunning blush pink ribbon for my hair, it perfectly matches my new fuchsia lipstick. I simply had to purchase it! This is one of those tiny delights that make you smile just thinking about it. This lipstick will truly be my "happy lipstick." And don't get me started on the Pink & White Rosewater Marshmallows – they were gone within five minutes! Now, is that not a true confession of love, darling?
A Whirlwind of Inspiration
The day went by in a whirlwind of excitement and discoveries. I ventured through Hyde Park, catching a glimpse of the Peter Pan statue – it feels so magical to walk those same paths that he might have wandered, wouldn’t you say, darling?
This trip is all about discovering new places, getting lost in the enchanting alleys, and indulging in London's vibrant cultural pulse. And that, dear readers, is what London is all about – a city that bursts with creativity, offers a platform for new experiences, and simply demands to be enjoyed with a skip in your step and a twirl in your heart.
Tomorrow, darling, is all about the Royal Ballet, and I have a very special ballet-inspired outfit waiting to make its grand debut! I can already picture myself twirling in the foyer, catching glimpses of fellow dance enthusiasts and their awe-inspiring gowns and suits! Can you even imagine the elegance of it all, darling?
Until next Friday, when I will regale you with all the details of my ballet adventure, do remember, it's never too late to twirl, darling. And a pink tutu can transform any ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure.
So go forth, dance your way through life, and remember,
Every day is a ballet!
Love, Emma xx
