Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #803)

Friday, 20th January 2012

Oh, hello darlings! It’s Emma, your friendly neighbourhood ballerina, back with another instalment of the Pink Tutu Blog! This week, I've traded my usual Derbyshire hills for the vibrant streets of London, and let me tell you, my tutus have been twirling with excitement all week!

Train Travels & City Lights

I’m all about those train journeys. There’s something so magical about watching the world whiz past from a carriage window, especially when you're sporting a fabulous pink tutu and your favourite polka dot scarf. It’s like you're starring in your own whimsical film!

I left Derbyshire early this morning, my suitcase packed with my most exquisite pink ensembles. It's amazing how much can fit into a single, perfectly coordinated pink suitcase, wouldn't you say? This week’s trip is dedicated to exploring the magic of London, finding those hidden gems and iconic sights that only a tutu-wearing explorer can truly appreciate.

Afternoon Delights: A Touch of Bloomsbury

Arriving at Euston station felt like stepping onto a stage, with its grand arches and bustling atmosphere. My first stop was the Bloomsbury area, a charming neighbourhood with a rich literary and artistic history. You'd be surprised how many amazing little cafes are tucked away around there, offering the perfect setting for a spot of tea and a delicious slice of cake (I recommend the Victoria sponge, my dears!).

After indulging in a spot of afternoon tea, I embarked on a walk through Russell Square, one of London’s prettiest gardens. It was a gorgeous winter day with a crisp air and the sun sparkling through the trees, making it the perfect setting for a photoshoot. My vibrant pink tutu absolutely stole the show, especially against the backdrop of those majestic buildings!

Theatrical Wonders: The West End Awaits

What better way to celebrate a trip to London than by enjoying a night at the theatre? The West End is a dream come true for any theatre lover like me! This weekend I'm going to be seeing a performance of The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre! Oh, the joy of the sheer talent and breathtaking scenery is what makes it so fantastic, my darlings! You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be rocking my favourite shimmering pink tutu for the occasion.

Fashion Finds: From the Ritz to Regent Street

Of course, no London trip is complete without a little bit of shopping! This time around, my pink agenda took me straight to Regent Street. Now, don’t get me wrong, it's tempting to get lost in the glamour of the grand shops, like the stunning department store, Liberty. It’s so utterly Victorian and extravagant - perfect for a twirl.

But I also discovered some real hidden treasures amongst the independent boutiques along this trendy street. My favourite find was a darling little hat shop on Brewer Street, just off Regent Street. The shopkeeper had the most divine array of hats in every imaginable shade of pink! Oh, it was like stepping into a pink cloud of millinery delight!

A Taste of London's Culinary Charm

After my fashion spree, it was time to satisfy my insatiable hunger. London is a foodie's paradise, with everything from street food vendors to Michelin-starred restaurants. For a casual and yummy dinner, I settled for a delicious Indian takeaway, tucked away in a quiet back street. I have to say, it's the perfect cure for any tutu-induced shopping fatigue.

A Final Waltz Before the Curtain Closes

Before my train departs tomorrow, I plan on taking a leisurely stroll around the Royal Opera House and Covent Garden. After all, a London adventure isn't complete without a bit of culture and inspiration. Plus, who knows what dazzling outfits will catch my eye at the shops lining Covent Garden. You can’t miss a look at the market, especially the flowers and the statues - simply glorious.

This trip has been filled with beautiful moments, pink adventures, and an abundance of inspiration. But like all good things, this journey must come to an end. As I board the train back to Derbyshire tomorrow, I know I’ll be carrying the magic of London with me. I’ve gathered new inspiration, unearthed fabulous pink gems, and created memories to cherish.

Until next Friday, my dears! Keep twirling and remember, every day is a new opportunity to spread pink joy to the world!
