Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 818 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!

Hello, darlings! It’s Friday, the 4th of May, and guess what? I’m back in London! 🎉

I hopped on the train bright and early from my little corner of Derbyshire, all bundled up in my pink tulle cape (because even the most stylish ballerina needs to be practical!), ready for another weekend of dazzling adventure in the Big Smoke! 💖

You know, there's something absolutely magical about arriving in London by train. That rhythmic chugging, the bustling platforms, the anticipation building… It’s like the entire city is preparing to welcome you with open arms! ✨

I can't believe this is my eighth visit to this magnificent metropolis this year already! But hey, London never disappoints, does it? And who am I to resist its charms? 😜 Besides, a good ballet performance helps fund all my adventures! 😉

Speaking of which, the reason for my visit this week is to see the dazzling “Giselle” at the Royal Opera House! Oh my heavens, I am so excited! The combination of classical ballet with hauntingly beautiful music is just pure magic! 💖 Plus, they are expecting a packed house for the opening night – so much fun and excitement to look forward to! ✨

Before my ballet escapade though, I am planning to unleash my inner fashionista and wander through the streets, indulging in a spot of shopping, of course! What would a trip to London be without a browse through Liberty's iconic department store? 💖

Liberty’s is simply brimming with exquisite fabrics, fashion, and everything pink imaginable! You just have to wander its gorgeous, beautifully-lit Victorian-inspired interiors and you are swept up in the sheer spectacle of it all! ✨

Today, I'm particularly inspired by their amazing silk scarves. And the Liberty print handbags! And the delicate antique jewelry… Oh dear, my bank account might need to go on a little diet after today, but it will be worth every penny for the sheer joy of exploring and indulging in some stylish treats! 🤩

I do love finding hidden gems amongst the mainstream – it’s part of the thrill of discovering the city. Speaking of which, my new go-to coffee spot in London is a little cafe in Soho, just tucked away in a backstreet called The Vintage Coffee Shop. It's charming, bohemian, and their pastries are divine! (Especially their vegan strawberry and rhubarb croissant!). The walls are lined with old postcards and prints, and they have this old gramophone in the corner playing jazz tunes… it's all just utterly dreamy! ☕️

Of course, a Friday in London isn’t complete without a proper theatrical adventure, now, is it? 🎭 This evening, I’m seeing “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane! I haven’t seen a pantomime since I was a child, so I’m bursting with excitement for all the singing, dancing, and colourful costumes – they even say there will be snow! ❄️

London always delivers!

The city is a magical whirlwind of artistic and theatrical creations – you’re constantly surrounded by amazing energy and inspiration, especially with so many world-class shows playing simultaneously!

As I write this, the sun is setting, casting a glorious pink glow over the city! Oh, how I adore the magical light that fills this city! 💕

Of course, London has to have one or two disadvantages, as all places do. The traffic! Oh my! Even at 7:30 in the morning it was a bumper-to-bumper situation on my way into the city from the train station! And let's not talk about navigating the Underground! Honestly, a labyrinth with people rushing around every which way! 😂 But, it's part of the charm!

Don’t worry, I am certainly not complaining, though – I truly do love this crazy, charming city and all of its flaws!

Speaking of flaws (well, imperfections!), it goes without saying that every single one of us is perfect just the way we are, and we should embrace our own unique style, flaws and all! 💕 And it goes without saying that a little dose of sparkle and tulle goes a long way!

And just because I love sharing my inner fashionista with the world, here are my London-inspired pink outfit ideas for today – let's get that “sparkle and shine” on! 🤩

London Look 1: Pink Power at Liberty's

Outfit:
* A floaty, coral pink chiffon dress, with a vintage pink cardigan tied around the shoulders (just because, it's so very Parisian and chic!), and black lace tights underneath.
* Pink platform heels - for extra height! * And, of course, my pink tutu, for an added touch of fun and whimsy! 💖

Accessories: * A straw fedora, adorned with a pink feather for a touch of colour and elegance.
* A pretty pink silk scarf, wrapped around my neck or wrist, or maybe a vintage floral scarf from the Liberty London shop for some vintage vibes! * Pink nail polish, of course. * A sparkling pink handbag for a bit of glamorous charm!

London Look 2: Soho Style

Outfit: * An oversized, pale pink cable-knit cardigan, worn open to reveal a cream polka dot vintage blouse. * Black and white striped midi skirt (or maybe an emerald green leather skirt!). * Grey converse for comfortable style and easy exploring!

Accessories: * A gold locket necklace – maybe even with a tiny pink tutu inside!
* Pink, oversized vintage sunglasses for that ultimate retro-cool Soho style.

London Look 3: Theatrical Magic!

Outfit: * A silky, vibrant fuchsia pink dress, just skimming the knees. * A dramatic black velvet jacket - perfect for the theater. * Elegant black pumps, just begging to twirl.

Accessories: * A small pink sparkly clutch bag for essentials like a lipstick and a little bit of fairy dust! * Pink and black makeup – to enhance your natural beauty and add a touch of drama for the theatre!

So, what does London have planned for me on Saturday? Oh, a ballet performance for me, then the beautiful and bright Kew Gardens, and I may squeeze in a visit to The V&A for a little art and fashion inspiration! 🏛️🎨 And maybe some extra “tutu time” just because…💖

You can always keep up with all my adventures here on my blog and across my socials, but for now, darling, you take care and remember… wear pink and don't be afraid to twirl! 💗

Stay sparkling! ✨
