Pink Tutu Blog London #819: A Tutu-tastic Day Exploring the Big Smoke!
Hello my lovely Tutu-ettes! 🩰
It's Friday again, which means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Blog! Today I'm bursting with excitement because I'm in the glorious capital city, London! The journey up from Derbyshire was pure bliss; I settled into my comfy seat on the train and allowed the rolling countryside to soothe me as I imagined the exciting day ahead. And let's be honest, a train journey is never complete without a little bit of tutu twirling, right? (The train carriages seemed to appreciate my mini performance, let me tell you!).
As a ballerina at heart, a trip to London wouldn't be complete without experiencing some of the best ballet performances in the world. Now, you know I'm always eager to share the best deals and most enchanting events with you, so you'll be thrilled to hear that on this glorious Friday, the Royal Opera House has a breathtaking double bill showcasing works from The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. I’ve got my ticket secured (and yes, it was a steal – don’t tell everyone but the best performances aren't always the most expensive!), and I’m ready to be transported by the graceful movements and enchanting stories these ballets have to offer.
But wait, there’s more! I’m not one to stay within the four walls of a theatre, even if it is the glorious Royal Opera House. After the ballet, I’m embarking on a spontaneous tour of some of the most fashionable areas in the city. A little birdy (my dearest, fashionista friend Lily) tipped me off to a must-see exhibit happening at the Victoria and Albert Museum dedicated to fashion trends of the roaring 20s. It's an opportunity to be inspired by iconic silhouettes, captivating colors and, most importantly, a glimpse into the revolutionary changes women were experiencing through fashion at that time. I’m itching to incorporate a few 20s trends into my everyday ballerina wardrobe - what do you think? Should I add some flapper dresses or maybe even a cloche hat? 👒
Of course, no trip to London is complete without a little bit of retail therapy. So, after my museum jaunt, I’m setting my sights on a delightful boutique on the Kings Road. It's known for its unique blend of vintage charm and contemporary elegance. They boast a captivating collection of shoes and accessories that will make any ballerina's heart flutter, and I simply can't resist the opportunity to indulge my inner shoe enthusiast. Imagine: the perfect pink ballet pumps to match my latest tutu? A little shopping spree is the ultimate cure for post-ballet bliss, wouldn’t you agree?
You know I love to take you behind the scenes and share all the best spots, so I’ll be keeping you updated throughout the day on my Instagram, where I'll be posting photos of all my London adventures. Make sure you follow me at @PinkTutuBlog for some behind-the-scenes action. (Remember to hashtag #PinkTutuLondon for a chance to get featured!).
Now, let me share a little tip that I’ve picked up during my many train journeys across the country. There's something quite magical about the train lines of London, particularly those that lead to and from the iconic Paddington Station. It's the ultimate blend of old world charm and bustling city life. I'm planning on enjoying a charming cuppa and a light snack in the bustling concourse. Just a touch of the magic of London – what could be better, right?
This journey has been inspired by a beautiful project that I've been working on: a fundraising performance at the beautiful village hall in my hometown of Derby. The funds from this will allow me to attend a fantastic weekend dance workshop in Birmingham and learn from some truly amazing choreographers. I’m really excited about this opportunity – I feel like it’s the next step in my journey as a ballerina.
But it's all thanks to you, my wonderful readers! You're always there to support my passion for dancing and inspire me to reach new heights, so thank you. Let's bring a bit of pink magic into everyone’s lives. Together, let's encourage others to dance with joy, wear tutus with confidence and embrace the wonder of the world with open arms.
Remember: It's Friday. Embrace the fun. Don’t forget to share your thoughts on how to bring a bit of Pink Tutu magic to London (or anywhere in the world!). Let's get this tutu party started!
