Pink Tutu Blog London: #833 - Friday 2012-08-17: London Calling!
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-clad traveller, and today's adventure finds me in the heart of London, the city that never sleeps! Now, don't worry, I haven't abandoned my beloved Derbyshire for good. I'm just here for a quick trip, fuelled by a passion for ballet, a touch of fashion inspiration, and of course, the undeniable lure of a new city to twirl in!
Train Travel and Pink Tutu Flair
The journey from my cosy Derbyshire home to London's bustling station was as delightful as ever. I may have garnered a few curious looks (it's hard not to when you're wearing a fluffy, pastel pink tutu on a train, darling!), but the whispers and smiles were worth it. After all, it's my mission to spread the pink tutu joy wherever I go!
As the train rolled into London, I couldn't help but feel a wave of excitement. The energy of this city is intoxicating, a constant thrum of possibility and creative inspiration. Stepping off the train onto the platform, I immediately felt a burst of optimism. London, with its history and culture, was already weaving its magic around me!
A Ballet Fix at The Royal Opera House
My first stop? The Royal Opera House, naturally! There's nothing quite like the feeling of entering the hallowed halls of this grand theatre, and the thrill of seeing a performance here is second to none. Today's show was a mesmerising rendition of "Swan Lake". Every movement, every arabesque, was a poem in motion.
The costumes were stunning, and the ballerinas, oh, the ballerinas! Their grace, their precision, it simply left me breathless. They made me long to be back in the studio, perfecting my own pirouettes! (Not quite to their level, of course, but every ballerina has to start somewhere, right?) After the performance, I indulged in a post-show treat, sipping a sparkling Bellini at the bar, feeling inspired and brimming with ideas.
A Spot of Shopping for Tutu Inspiration
The day was young, and I had more exploring to do! Now, no trip to London is complete without a visit to Oxford Street. Oh, the shops! A haven for any fashion lover like me. This time, I was looking for new inspiration, a bit of sartorial sparks to fuel my upcoming performances and add a touch of flair to my pink tutu wardrobe.
There were some truly lovely things, from bold accessories to perfectly cut jackets that would look divine with my pink tutus. And, of course, there were a plethora of shades of pink to browse. I'm always on the hunt for new hues, and I must admit, there were a few blush and flamingo-toned pieces that caught my eye.
London By Night: Lights, Camera, Tutu!
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow across the city, I hopped on the tube for a stroll along the Thames. The view from Westminster Bridge is simply magical. It was the perfect setting to take in the beauty of this city bathed in evening light, feeling the pulse of London beneath my feet.
I decided to round off the day with a performance at the Vaudeville Theatre. This intimate, historic venue was the perfect stage for the witty and delightful play "Boeing Boeing", filled with comedic twists and turns. There’s nothing better than a night of laughter, particularly with a dazzling London night outside.
And of course, what's a London outing without a trip to one of the city's iconic pubs? This evening I found myself tucked away in a cosy corner, sipping a pint of beer, reflecting on the day's adventures. The gentle chatter and laughter surrounding me made for a pleasant end to a whirlwind London day.
Back to Derbyshire, Inspired and Enchanting
It's amazing how a few hours in London can leave you feeling so energised. Back on the train, heading towards the Derbyshire countryside, my heart is bursting with excitement for my next performance. I’ve been inspired, enchanted by London, and most importantly, fueled by a renewed passion for sharing the joy of tutus with the world!
And speaking of tutus, darling, be sure to check back next week for my #PinkTutuBlogLondon, where I’ll share the details of my new outfit and reveal my latest performance.
Until then, don't forget to wear your pink tutu with pride!
Love and sparkles, Emma
