Pink Tutu Blog London: #844 - A Tutu-tastic Friday in London Town!
Hello my darlings! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! 🩰 This week I took a delightful train trip from my home in Derbyshire down to the big smoke, London. Oh, I just love those long train journeys - there's nothing quite as lovely as being able to look out of the window and watch the countryside whizz by. And of course, it's the perfect opportunity to do some planning for my London adventures!
As you all know, London is a treasure trove of all things tutu-tastic! Ballet shows, fantastic ballet stores, breathtaking theatre performances and oh, the fashion! I can't get enough. And for this week's outing, I knew exactly what I wanted to do - combine all my favourite things for a perfect Friday adventure.
My Itinerary - The Tutu-ful Way to Explore London:
Firstly, I had to look fabulous! Now, you wouldn't catch me stepping foot in London without a perfect outfit. I had to put together an ensemble that was stylish yet comfy - a perfect combination for exploring London. A pale pink silk top with a delicate floral pattern, my go-to tailored jacket, and of course, the absolute star of the show - a brand new pink tutu! I paired it with some lovely, comfy blush ballet shoes and a blush satchel bag (the perfect size for carrying my phone, ballet essentials, and of course, my beloved camera!). Now I was ready to take on London in a flurry of tulle and glamour!
Tutu Time: Royal Opera House, Covent Garden:
My first stop was, of course, the legendary Royal Opera House. How could you not be mesmerized by this incredible venue? From the moment you step inside, you are swept away by the sheer grandeur. Every single detail, from the intricately painted ceilings to the elegant chandelier, just breathes history and elegance. It truly is the home of opera and ballet, and today, the air buzzed with excitement, for I was attending "Giselle." A truly heart-wrenching classic, the delicate steps, graceful movements, and powerful emotions painted an unforgettable experience. The Royal Ballet are simply stunning! It was all just so perfect, and it truly put me in the right mood to explore the rest of the city.
A Fashionable Lunch Break:
Afterwards, I popped over to the Liberty department store. The floral decorations and elegant Victorian architecture are always such a treat. The window displays were especially enticing, featuring dazzling arrays of vintage and modern fashion. But as lovely as the displays were, I couldn't resist popping in to check out the fashion selection. I mean, who could possibly resist? And I must confess, I left with a delightful, blush-coloured cashmere scarf, perfect for those cool London evenings.
The Beauty of Covent Garden:
From there, it was only a short walk to Covent Garden - a real whirlwind of activity and delightful sights! I wandered around the charming market stalls, admiring the artistry and the sheer energy of the place. And what a truly wonderful spot for lunch - a vibrant mix of aromas and flavors. I went for something classic – a delightful fish and chips from a traditional stall. It's so wonderfully comforting!
Step into the West End:
The afternoon saw me heading towards the West End. Of course, I had to visit Leicester Square – with the cinemas, the bustling square and the bright lights - what could be better than that! But most importantly, the vibrant energy made me incredibly excited to visit my final destination: the beautiful Palace Theatre. I'd bought tickets for a matinee of "Wicked" - it was just impossible to resist such a theatrical spectacular! I always enjoy this particular show, not only for the singing and costumes but also for the incredible story and the inspiring messages it conveys. Oh, the costumes! Everything was so vibrant and glittering - you couldn't tear your eyes away from them! And those stunning hats? What a masterpiece of hat-making!
Ballet Street for the Night:
The final leg of my trip saw me returning to Covent Garden again. This time, my destination was none other than Ballet Street - my favourite place in London. Here I can browse their phenomenal collection of ballet shoes, find new ballet clothes and enjoy the lovely atmosphere of this specialist store. And let's not forget, I was there on a mission to find a new leotard. There’s something about the feel of that beautiful stretchy fabric that makes my heart happy. I was so pleased with my final choice!
A Pink Tutu-ful End to the Day:
By the time I left, my legs were feeling a little tired, so I was more than happy to relax on my journey back home. And to relax on that train journey? A lovely ballet class DVD, of course! It's one of the best things about traveling by train. So I just sat back and enjoyed my day’s adventures, reflecting on what a beautiful, wonderful and tutu-ful day I'd had. And, let me tell you, nothing beats settling down on the train after a day in London, ready to travel back to Derbyshire. Oh, but London – I can’t wait for our next adventure!
