Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 845 – A Friday Fling in the Big Smoke! 🩰✨

Hello, my gorgeous little twirling friends! 💃 It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away on a pink-tinted adventure to London! This Friday, I boarded a train, the sound of the wheels against the tracks echoing my own rhythmic excitement. I've always felt a special connection with trains; they transport me not just to different places, but to different states of mind. Today, they took me from the rolling hills of Derbyshire to the bustling heart of London, and boy, did I have a day!

As usual, I’d fund this weekend’s escapade by giving a performance at The Royal Ballet School in Nottingham, this week, they put on "Sleeping Beauty." (Yes, the little ballerina girl in her pink tutu is secretly a dancer too!) I'm lucky enough to have my dance work take me all over the country, but London always has a certain magnetism that draws me in, and I always find myself making a little pitstop when I can!

This week, I landed at Kings Cross, right into the hubbub of a London Friday. With the air thick with anticipation for the weekend, the streets were pulsing with a life that’s electrifying. London’s atmosphere never fails to take my breath away! It’s a beautiful chaos, a dizzying whirl of activity, a melting pot of people and cultures, each one vibrantly unique, yet seamlessly intertwined.

After a quick stop at my favourite coffee shop on Baker Street, (their chai latte is heavenly!), I started my tour with the grand architecture of Buckingham Palace. Even though the changing of the guards wasn't on today's agenda, I always find myself drawn to its grandeur, like a delicate little ballerina standing before a magnificent castle.

And speaking of grandeur…my tutu (which was a dazzling fuchsia this time, for a touch of flamboyant Parisian chic) did catch a few admiring eyes as I strolled past the palace gates. This is why I wear a pink tutu, you see. I want to make a splash! Not literally, of course (though with my dance skills, maybe one day…). It’s about reminding ourselves to be bold, to celebrate our own individuality, and to infuse the everyday with a dash of playful delight!

My next stop was a little farther afield: a leisurely wander around Kensington Gardens. As I pirouetted through the leaves of the trees, my heart soared. The beauty of these parks reminds me of the power of simple pleasures – a sunny afternoon, a gentle breeze, the rustling of leaves. These are the little details that make life feel magical, don't you think?

Later, my pink tutu and I took a trip down memory lane: the Royal Albert Hall! I always loved watching dance performances here growing up, so stepping into its iconic venue again filled me with pure nostalgia. I couldn’t resist twirling on the grand staircase. I can’t imagine there are many venues as inspiring. (But don’t tell the staff - I’m not sure they’d appreciate it!)

Then it was time for some serious shopping! 🛍️ Let’s just say I was in fashion heaven. (Of course, the clothes are all very 'tutu' friendly too. 😉) I spent hours hopping between boutique shops and vintage finds, trying on anything that caught my eye, from floral print dresses with puff sleeves (so trendy!) to bright pink coats for the cold London evenings (because you can never have enough pink, can you?). My favourite part of London shopping, though, has to be finding unique, vintage items. Like, have you ever found a genuine antique tiara at a charity shop? (I might have. Let’s just say I added some serious sparkle to my collection!).

But let’s be honest, I'm more than just a shopaholic – my soul yearns for the stage! And London is a theatrical wonderland. It has something for every taste – classic Shakespearean performances, jaw-dropping musicals, and the avant-garde shows that push creative boundaries. So of course, I snagged a ticket for the West End musical Wicked. The choreography was just mind-blowing, I kept saying to myself - "It was wicked!" I am, of course, a ballet girl first and foremost, but I appreciate all types of performances, as they offer different ways to express creativity and artistic vision.

It wouldn’t be a trip to London without a little culinary indulgence. I went to one of the hottest restaurants in the city right now – [You can fill in with the restaurant you would like, but it should be something pink, unique, and fashionable, as it's for Emma!]. I found it recommended in a fashion magazine – pink tablecloths, a pink menu – a true testament to my pink loving heart! And to top off a fabulous day, I indulged in some deliciously pink ice cream – my personal touch for a perfect ending. (If I’m being honest, I might have taken a little tumble into the pinkest, frothiest whipped cream cloud...oops!)

As the lights twinkled across the city skyline, I headed back to the train station, my heart brimming with happy memories and new ideas for the blog. The bustle of the London crowd around me was a symphony of chattering, footsteps, and laughter – a chorus that I didn't want to fade away.

You see, the London I know is vibrant, creative, and absolutely bursting with life. It's a city that inspires, challenges, and embraces individuality – just like my own pink tutu! If you ever have the chance to visit, do it. You’ll fall in love with its infectious energy and see why it has been a place of inspiration for countless artists and performers, like me.

I’m back in my Derbyshire studio now, getting ready for the week ahead. And of course, already dreaming of my next trip back to the Big Smoke. But until then, I leave you with a reminder: go forth and be fabulous! Wear your pink tutu, find your own passion, and let your personality shine bright. ✨
