Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! 🩰✨

Hello lovelies!

It's Friday, which means it's time for a new post on Pink Tutu Blog! 🎉

Today I'm writing to you from the bustling streets of London, a city I simply adore. I've always been drawn to the energy, the history, and the fashion of this fantastic place. And what better way to explore it than in a sparkling pink tutu, of course? 😉

This is post number 856, and as usual, I'm bursting to tell you all about my adventures. Let's dive in!

A Train Ride to London

I embarked on my London journey from my charming Derbyshire home, where I was performing in the "Nutcracker" at a local theatre. A gruelling yet delightful few weeks. I must admit, a few extra curtain calls from the adorable, wide-eyed children in the audience make all the rehearsals and tiring performances worth it. It was just the boost I needed for my London trip.

And who could resist a trip on a British train? Such elegance and romance. With a delicious Earl Grey tea and a good book, I settled into my plush armchair for the ride, excited to reach the vibrant heart of the city. I find London trains very charming. Don't you think they have character? You just feel like you are transported to a place where everyone is excited for an adventure. It’s no surprise that many films choose London as the setting.

London Fashion & Tutus

Once I arrived, I simply had to grab a scrumptious Victoria sponge cake from the lovely cafe just outside Euston Station, it was simply divine! London does have some wonderful cake shops. It was such a perfect treat, you can’t beat a warm, gooey victoria sponge. And don’t get me started on their divine custard cream cookies. I couldn’t resist. 😉

Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a shopping spree! And with my heart set on a brand new tutu for my upcoming ballet performance (the Swan Lake, no less!), I headed straight to Harrods. That gorgeous department store never disappoints, a dazzling display of the most amazing fabrics and trims - absolutely heaven! My heart did a little happy jig as I browsed the racks. After a good hour (and several deep breaths to contain the excitement!), I found the perfect tutu. It's a lovely shade of pink, with shimmering sequined details. It will be a true showstopper. It just wouldn't feel right wearing a darker tutu in “Swan Lake,” would it? A white swan would look much better in a pink tutu! Don’t you think?

My shopping haul was pretty epic this time, let’s just say that. A beautiful sequined bolero for evening shows, sparkling ruby red dancing shoes for rehearsals, a blush-colored silk scarf, and, yes, a whole new set of lipstick in various pinks and a deep rose-coloured blush, all beautifully boxed up.

With my shopping complete, I took a leisurely stroll through Hyde Park. London has a lovely collection of parks that are truly stunning in all the seasons. What a delight! The London air just makes it all that much more delightful, it’s so refreshingly crisp and makes you feel invigorated. And Hyde Park was bustling with life. There were dog walkers, joggers, and families having picnics in the sunshine.

The trees and lawns looked magical covered in a light layer of dew. And just imagine the feeling as you get to stroll through the leaves crunching under your feet, they were already beginning to turn brown for fall.

You'd never guess what I saw walking by, a couple having their wedding photos taken with the London Eye in the background. It made me feel so incredibly romantic! The couple was wearing vibrant blue colours, it really popped! Such a wonderful mix of pink and blue hues. But who could resist having photos with that majestic wheel in the background? What a way to truly remember the most magical day! I swear I almost said hello and shouted out, “I’m a Tutu blogger.” Just think, it would have been a wonderful blog post! I’m almost starting to feel like I live in a film sometimes, especially when I'm in London.

Ballet in London

As the evening fell, I was looking forward to seeing the magnificent Royal Ballet perform "The Sleeping Beauty." Oh, this is one of my favourite shows! I was lucky to grab a last-minute ticket. Such a steal! It was absolutely mesmerising.

The Royal Opera House itself is a sight to behold. Such elegance! I loved taking in all the grandeur of the building as I walked into the grand lobby. The Royal Opera House does not disappoint with its ornate architectural features. And, as always, I felt truly at home amidst all the elegance, history and beauty of the place. You just get that “London feeling,” don’t you?

But then the magic truly started! The set was simply spectacular! The dancing was simply stunning. My jaw actually dropped at some of the amazing jumps and the delicate handwork of each of the ballerinas. They truly embodied the graceful nature of Aurora. Every dancer held you captive with their incredible athleticism, technique and finesse. It really is no wonder this is one of the world’s most iconic shows! I could not have wished for a better performance.

As I left the opera house and stepped into the bustling London streets again, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of pure happiness. I absolutely love these evenings, and the thrill of experiencing such spectacular performances. London is definitely a magical place when it comes to the arts!

The Heart of London

Now, if you are looking for the ultimate night time London adventure, take a look at Trafalgar Square. This vibrant plaza truly buzzed with energy. The iconic lions guarding the fountains were magnificent, with that proud expression you always expect from British lions. London’s public art makes me so incredibly happy, from those famous pigeons in Trafalgar Square to all the amazing graffiti artworks I saw down hidden side streets. So much colour and creativity! If you’re in London, do head to these small little lanes, they truly hold so much joy! Just remember to take extra caution in the dark as the lights are low, you’ve been warned. The people who love this city truly do inject their soul and stories into these creative spaces, I adore them all. And I am grateful they let us experience them, the true beating heart of London.

I strolled along, admiring the street lights casting that unique soft yellow glow on everything around me. I took in all the amazing sights and smells that make up this wonderfully eccentric and charming city. It truly is a special place.

And with that, my time in London came to an end. I returned to my charming Derbyshire home with a heart brimming with the magic of the city.
