Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #859 - Friday February 15th - London Calling!
Hello darlings!
It’s Emma here, back from another magical adventure! This week, I'm in the fabulous city of London, and I am SO excited to share it all with you. As always, it was a dream trip on the train from my little slice of Derbyshire. I love the rhythmic sway of the carriage and the exciting anticipation that builds with each passing station. I do think it’s fair to say that trains were made for twirling, and I can’t resist getting into a good, dramatic pirouette at the windows every now and then (it always gets a smile from my fellow passengers - tutus have that effect).
The trip was especially glamorous today, because I packed my lucky tutu! A beautiful pink tulle number, so light and airy. It makes me feel like a true ballerina princess (just maybe add a sprinkle of glitter!). I even treated myself to a fab new pink feather boa from the market at Derby station - a little something extra to make my arrival in London a showstopper!
The last time I visited, I fell in love with the quirky boutiques near Covent Garden. It's so inspiring to see so much talent and creativity under one roof. I’m all about supporting small businesses, and this street truly delivers! The fabrics, the colors, the quirky vintage items... I could get lost in it for hours. I mean, just the amount of inspiration for new tutus alone - just pure magic! Of course, I couldn't resist adding a few little gems to my ever-growing collection. Let's just say I had to pack strategically this time (and probably bought another little pink suitcase on the way, I haven't decided yet).
Now, where were we? Ah yes, London. The air in London always has a magical feeling to it, a real energy that fills you with creativity. I was in London to catch one of my favorite ballets, Swan Lake, at the Royal Opera House. It was a perfect performance - I loved seeing all the elegant ballerinas performing in their beautiful costumes, their graceful movements were breathtaking. As you know, nothing makes me happier than watching the sheer artistry and athleticism on display in a ballet show.
But wait, there’s more! After the show, I popped by my favourite hidden gem, the Bloomsbury Theatre, for an enchanting performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". It’s the perfect little theatre, brimming with history and charm. And just the sort of place you would imagine Shakespeare himself watching from the balcony. (I am convinced the little pink feather boa I added to my tutu gave it a bit of an extra "Shakespearean touch"). The performance was full of energy and humor - a brilliant night all around!
Speaking of energy, did you know that this weekend is also the Chinese New Year Festival in London? I've been to China a few times for performances (yes, even ballet is international! I really do get to see so much of the world!), and I am absolutely smitten with Chinese culture. It's a wonderful mix of traditions and festivals. It just has such a beautiful sense of life. The energy was incredible; I was immediately drawn to the street vendors with all their beautiful handcrafted items - silks, paper lanterns, delicious little snacks, and everything bathed in the colour of a new beginning.
But you know me - no trip to London is complete without a visit to Hamleys! My heart just explodes with joy in that magnificent wonderland of toys. The displays are so bright and beautiful, and it just makes you want to grab a teddy bear and twirl around in a pink tutu, wouldn't you agree? It's almost impossible not to have a childhood flashback! I managed to find a little ballet doll in a sparkly pink costume. Don’t worry, I've started a collection of my favorite pink ballet things - I just love to see the magic and wonder in all those things! I have the whole collection lovingly arranged at home in Derbyshire. I feel so blessed to have such lovely little things around to remind me of all the wonderful adventures I've had.
Did I mention my shopping adventures? I just couldn't resist browsing in a few beautiful boutiques. There was something just so magical about London today - a perfect mix of traditional and modern fashion. I found the cutest little pink top at a small store off Carnaby Street, with delicate beading, a must have for a ballet class in my next London trip! I did treat myself to a new pink ballerina scarf from Liberty's. It has this wonderful whimsical pattern - you wouldn’t believe the vibrant colour, and of course, I matched it perfectly to my lucky tutu! It's going to look incredible on stage (I'm considering incorporating it into my performance at next month’s charity gala).
I just feel so lucky to be able to travel and share these magical experiences with all of you. I truly believe that life is meant to be celebrated, and I want to encourage everyone to follow their dreams, whether it's wearing a tutu or simply finding beauty in the world around them! As for my ultimate goal: to get everyone to embrace their inner ballerina. Perhaps one tutu at a time. That is the mission, isn't it?
So, here’s to embracing your inner ballerina and following your heart! Don't forget to subscribe to the Pink-Tutu.com blog, so you never miss out on the fun. And I am so excited to share more of my London adventure next week.
