Hello, darling tutu-lovers!
It's Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to London. It was a perfect day, full of the city's charm, fabulous fashion, and yes, of course, even a bit of ballet!
A Whiff of Derbyshire Nostalgia
This Friday started with the familiar thrill of hopping on the train. Leaving Derbyshire behind was always a touch bittersweet, but there's something about the rumbling of the tracks and the anticipation of arriving in a vibrant new place that makes it all worthwhile.
I was so excited to hit London. A city teeming with culture, fashion, and endless opportunities for a girl like me! And to be honest, it wouldn't be a proper London adventure without donning my signature pink tutu, just for that extra touch of whimsy and flair. I'd paired it with a crisp white blouse, my favourite floral jacket, and trusty Mary Jane pumps – a touch of pink ballerina elegance in the city.
London, Calling!
After a quick trip to the changing rooms at King's Cross (I couldn't resist trying on a fabulous new hat in Liberty, a must for every stylish traveller!) it was time for a little breakfast on the go. It's never too early for a sprinkle of glitter! (It’s actually rather easy to get into the mood of a little glitter in the UK. There are literally hundreds of shops where one could spend hours finding just the right embellishment.) I found myself drawn to the delightful aroma of coffee wafting from a small, charming cafe. With a buttery croissant and a large latte in hand, I was ready to conquer the city!
Stepping Onto the London Stage
You know I wouldn’t go to London without taking in a ballet show! The Royal Opera House is a grand palace of theatre magic, and I always make it a point to experience the wonder of dance whenever I'm in town. This Friday’s show was an incredible display of modern choreography, blending classic elements with unexpected twists, keeping my heart racing! It was exhilarating and inspiring, leaving me full of inspiration for my own upcoming performance next week!
The Art of Shopping
Of course, no London trip would be complete without some shopping! It's one of my favourite things about the city. You simply can't beat the atmosphere of a buzzing marketplace like Covent Garden! The stalls overflowed with treasures and vibrant colours. I couldn't resist adding a touch of pink to my collection with a few beautiful vintage floral earrings and a playful, twirling ballerina necklace.
A Tea Time Extravaganza
Nothing completes a perfect London afternoon quite like a cup of tea, especially in the delightful surroundings of a quaint little tearoom on a cobbled street in Kensington. Imagine my joy when I stumbled upon one with pink china teacups! They just screamed "pink tutu"! After a scrumptious scone, jam, and cream, it was time for a leisurely stroll around Hyde Park. What a delightful way to take in the sights, sounds, and fresh air of this vibrant city!
The Magic of the City at Night
As dusk began to settle and the London skyline glittered in the soft twilight, I knew this day was about to turn magical! With a newfound spring in my step (the ballet always adds an extra twirl!), I made my way to the Theatre Royal Haymarket to catch the final curtain of “The Importance of Being Earnest,” a witty, delightful production of the classic play.
Catching The Night Train Home
After a night full of dazzling lights and endless laughter, it was time to bid farewell to London. Back in my favourite spot, a cosy corner of the train, I let my mind drift back through the day, feeling blessed to have shared it with this extraordinary city. As I pulled out my diary, I found myself grinning at my entries: “Teacups like pink tutus!” “Ballerina earrings!” “Modern choreography at the ROH!”
