Pink Tutu Blog London: #863 Friday 2013-03-15 – London Calling! 🩰
Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind weekend in London town, and feeling absolutely pink with excitement. As always, you'll find me blogging about all things fashion, fabulous, and tutu-tastic – this time with a London twist!
You all know I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart, but my heart also skips a beat for the bright lights and bustling streets of the capital. The lure of world-class theatre, dreamy vintage boutiques, and endless opportunities for tutu-twirling was just too much to resist! This week, I journeyed to London by train, which, for me, is always part of the adventure. It's a chance to soak up the English countryside scenery while picturing myself twirling through fields of flowers in my favourite pink tulle creation (who knows, maybe I'll give that a go next time! 😉).
A Friday In London:
My arrival in London was a flurry of pink: I jumped off the train and straight into a cab, ready to hit the ground running. It was Friday the 15th of March, which meant one thing: The Royal Ballet's performance of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House! My inner ballerina went into overdrive. I had snagged a front-row seat, a splendid reward after a week of ballet performances for local charities in my Derbyshire hometown.
This is where the magic happens, you know? Watching the artistry and athleticism of the world’s best dancers is truly breathtaking. I have to admit, I got a little bit teary-eyed as Odette gracefully floated across the stage, her swan costume a beautiful canvas of light and shadow. And let's not forget Prince Siegfried's dashing elegance – I swear I could have caught a hint of pink in his costume too! 🩰👑
From Swan Lake To Shopping Streets:
After the performance, I was completely re-energised – a ballet performance is the perfect way to recharge those artistic batteries, don't you think? So, a bit of London shopping was in order! I made my way to the gorgeous Liberty department store, its facade like a fairy tale castle in a busy London street.
The entire place was bursting with color, beauty, and vintage treasures, making me feel like Alice in Wonderland. And oh, the clothes! From dreamy silk gowns to whimsical vintage dresses, I could have spent a week in that heavenly department store. But, thankfully, I remembered I had an even bigger adventure ahead.
The Magic Of London Theatre:
The weekend just wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the theatre! I decided on a classic – “Les Miserables" at The Queen’s Theatre. The emotions were intense – from laughter to tears to pure awe at the talent on stage. I even caught a few tutu-twirling moves in the dance numbers.
For my next trip to London, I’ve got my eyes on “Phantom of the Opera” – can you believe it's been on the West End since 1986? Such enduring theatre!
Afternoon Tea For A Ballerina:
And who can forget afternoon tea? The ultimate British indulgence. I splurged on a spot at The Ritz, where the delicate finger sandwiches and scones were absolutely heavenly. It felt like stepping back in time with its classic Victorian charm, but with a modern twist. What could be more perfect for a tutu-wearing blogger than a bit of elegance and luxury, right? 💖
Taking in London's Beauty:
London's charm doesn’t just exist inside its glamorous theaters and shops, but in its streets, parks, and architecture too. I spent a day wandering through Hyde Park, relishing the fresh air and spring flowers, and marvelling at the iconic Buckingham Palace and its sprawling gardens.
A little secret I have for you: a quick detour to the little boutiques off Kensington High Street, where I managed to find a delightful pink feathered hat that looked like it had flown straight out of a Moulin Rouge production! Perfect for a special occasion – and by that I mean, every occasion!
My London Travel Tips For Tutu Lovers:
Here are my essential London tips, tailor-made for those of you dreaming of a ballerina getaway:
Embrace the Train: I love taking the train. It gives you a different view of England's countryside and puts you in the mood for adventure.
Shop Your Way Through London: There's a treasure trove of fashion in every corner of this city. Don’t be afraid to ask locals for recommendations – they'll often lead you to hidden gem boutiques.
Theatre Magic: Catch a world-class ballet performance or a hit West End musical. Remember, every day’s an occasion for a glamorous ensemble.
Treat Yourself To Tea: The iconic London afternoon tea experience will not disappoint. I guarantee, there’s no better setting for some glamorous chit-chat with your favourite companions!
Dress The Part: And my most important tip of all – don't forget your pink tutu! London is the perfect playground for your inner ballerina, so dress to impress and show everyone the beauty and joy of tutus!
Until Next Week, London:
My week in London was a magical blend of culture, fashion, and my own special brand of tutudom! Now I'm back in Derbyshire, feeling energized and inspired, ready to take on the world… or at least my hometown’s next ballet performance. 💖
Stay tuned next Friday for another exciting installment of Pink Tutu Blog London.
Until then, remember to twirl with passion and grace, and don’t forget, pink is the perfect colour for every adventure!
