#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2013-03-22 - Exploring London in a Whirlwind of Pink
Hello, my lovelies! It's Friday, and you know what that means… another fabulous post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger! I'm Emma, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be back in London. As you all know, I love to travel, and my favourite mode of transport? The train, of course! This week, the train whisked me away from my lovely home in Derbyshire to the vibrant heart of London, all for a whirlwind day of ballet, fashion, and all things fabulous!
This week's blog is post number 864! Can you believe it? I feel like I'm just getting started. I'm always on the lookout for inspiration, and London, as always, has delivered. But enough about my travels, let's get on with the fun!
A Day In The Pink: London Adventures
The day started as a bright and beautiful Friday morning. With my signature pink tutu twirling around my legs (naturally!), I embarked on a mission: to experience London at its best.
First stop, the Royal Opera House!
I'm sure you've heard the old adage "nothing can be as glamorous as London"...well, it certainly proves true for ballet, wouldn't you agree? I have a confession. It was my second visit to see "Swan Lake," and I'm a little bit obsessed with the beautiful, tragic, story of the swan queen! Oh, the graceful movements of the ballerinas, the passion of the dancing... truly, it takes me on a breathtaking journey.
The Covent Garden Royal Opera House was simply enchanting! All the ladies around me were absolutely dazzling in their finery. For a moment, I felt a twinge of worry. Should I be rocking a pink tutu at a ballet? And then I realised, this is my life. I am the pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger! And guess what? No one gave me even a second look, because everyone is there for one reason – to enjoy the sheer brilliance of ballet.
The moment the performance started, all anxieties faded. The powerful story, the magnificent dancers, and the awe-inspiring sets swept me up in a whirlwind of emotions. Every movement felt like magic, and the whole performance was a beautiful reminder of the magic that can happen on stage.
Second stop: Shopping with a Flair!
After all that dancing and graceful swirling of the tutus, a little shopping was definitely in order! And who better to show me the London retail scene than my darling cousin, Rosie! You might be thinking "Oh no, Emma's taking the pink tutu obsession too far! Surely she's going to visit all the stores selling just pink items?!"
No my lovelies! I'm not that pink... yet. My main goal was to find some amazing new ballet shoes! We popped into Liberty of London, a haven of stylish elegance. It felt like a step back in time, filled with vintage elegance and some exquisite ballerina shoes!
Next, we made our way to Harrods, a retail haven for everything chic and stylish. You could practically feel the extravagance in the air! Of course, my mission to find new ballet shoes couldn't stop. I also took in the spectacular beauty of all the latest fashions, sparkling jewels and fabulous fragrances.
Let's just say Rosie helped me find some absolutely amazing ballet shoes - perfect for a day out or an evening at the theater! I may have gone a little overboard with the pink tutus (who can resist?)…but who's going to judge me? After all, it's London - the city of vibrant colour!
Last Stop: The Breathtaking Streets of London
It's not always about the tutus and the fancy shopping. Sometimes, it's simply about taking a stroll around one of the most magical cities in the world, with its iconic streets, quaint cobbled lanes, and bustling squares. We decided to wander the streets of Soho. We marveled at the architecture of Westminster Abbey. The atmosphere felt like I had just stepped into a Jane Austen novel. And let's not forget about those iconic red phone booths!
Oh, London. You never cease to amaze me!
Final Thoughts: Living the Dream
So, what else is there to say? I had a perfect Friday, full of joy, magic and even a sprinkle of pink magic! This city, it’s got me under a spell, as always! It was a perfect day for dancing, shopping and appreciating everything that makes this city so wonderful!
If you’re planning a trip to London soon, then definitely consider booking yourself tickets to see “Swan Lake.” I highly recommend a trip to see the Royal Ballet, a night out at the theatre – even a leisurely stroll around Covent Garden! Don’t forget your favourite ballet shoes, a sprinkle of pink magic and a smile on your face - what more could you ask for?
Until next Friday, my lovely readers. See you next week!
Love always,
Emma,
The Pink Tutu Blogger
*A Few Highlights: *
- What was on this date 2013? The biggest event on this day was a performance of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House. This ballet is so well known, I'm surprised there are people who have never seen it. Maybe I'll make it my goal to share the wonder with some friends... or the entire internet!
- Shopping highlights: My shopping adventure wasn't only about tutus, though I did manage to find some absolutely perfect ones in Liberty's! You really need to go have a browse. The shoe department is divine! If you like something really unique, you're going to adore their footwear selection. And don't be surprised if you see someone else wearing a pink tutu while shopping, after all, you never know who you'll meet in London!
Covent Garden is a wonderful, romantic, and very pink! The best time to visit, my lovelies, is in the afternoon, when all the stalls and flower shops are set up! Be prepared to indulge in a delicious afternoon tea, perhaps with a glass of bubbly. (Remember ladies, always with grace!)
Tips for Travelers
My secret: Be sure to have your camera handy - London has photo opportunities everywhere.
- Pack your dancing shoes (ballet shoes count too!), or better yet, purchase some while you’re in town. A night out dancing after seeing a ballet performance would make any ballet-loving lady very happy.
Don't forget to stop for afternoon tea, it's the perfect way to indulge in a quintessentially British tradition!
