Pink Tutu Blog London: #871 - A Whirlwind Friday in London Town!
Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back with another whirlwind adventure from the wonderful world of London! Today was just one of those glorious Fridays that makes you feel like you're on top of the world. And why not, because itās Pink Tutu Blog Friday! š
As always, I started the day in Derbyshire, my little corner of the world. After a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs (a real ballerina treat, you know), I made my way to the station, suitcase packed, pink tutu carefully nestled inside, of course. You see, there's nothing like the excitement of a train journey, the rhythmic clatter of the wheels, the smell of coffee, and the endless passing scenesā¦ Oh, and the tutus. Donāt forget the tutus, which never fail to inspire me to dance in my seat!
My ballet performance last night at the Matlock Playhouse (we were doing a fantastic rendition of āThe Nutcrackerā - more about that in next weekās post, darlings!), funded todayās trip. Isnāt that exciting?! All the tutus, sparkly tiaras, and delicate hair buns have paved the way to a fabulous London escapade. Iām pretty sure I saw a little twirl in my reflection in the window, just as we left Derbyshire. How delightful! š
First Stop: The Royal Opera House
Oh my word, darlings, have I got a treat for you! You know I love my ballet, and today was a dream come true! My ticket, clutched in my little ballerina purse, promised me an evening at the glorious Royal Opera House, watching the breathtaking "Swan Lake." Itās such a masterpiece. It just made my heart sing. Oh, I could almost imagine myself taking centre stage! I wonder if there were any pink tutus in the audienceā¦ It really doesn't matter, ballet is all about embracing your inner grace. š
And you just know I was taking full advantage of being in this dazzling venue! Before the performance, I even indulged in some luxurious hot chocolate at the cafe. And I made sure my tutu was looking its absolute best, all puffed up and perfectly placed ā a real āSwan Lakeā ready ballerina!
A Day of Whirlwind Shopping!
The beauty of ballet is that it truly feeds your inner artist - from the dancing to the costuming to, letās face it, the whole extravagant experience. Itās a bit of an inspiration for this pink-tutu-loving ballerina, wouldnāt you say? And so, after the performance, I took my delightful self off to Regent Street. Oh, darling, donāt even get me started on Regent Street! The shops, the fashion, the dazzling windows - my purse is feeling lighter, but my heart is bursting with happiness! You canāt help but get caught up in the creative buzz that London offers, and a little fashion spree was the perfect remedy after āSwan Lakeā. I just love the way they use fashion as a way to showcase everything about life and art in London, it's simply exquisite. Donāt worry, Iāll share the haul next week - there's something new for every occasion, including my pink tutu! š
Dinner with a View - The Shard!
The evening's treat had to involve my other true passion: the perfect high tea and London views. So, I hopped on a train (my little ballerina skirt swirling, of course) to Borough Market, and my tummy was delighted! I devoured the most incredible savoury pies and juicy berries. (Just another way to make your ballet diet worthwhile! š).
You know I can't resist the chance to get high in London. It really does make you feel on top of the world. My eyes twinkled like the sparkling lights of the city when we ascended the Shard. It felt like the whole city stretched out in front of me - like a ballet dancer, reaching out to embrace the sky. š«
The Shardās got to be one of the best views in the world. I actually thought about taking my pointe shoes with me. We had a lovely window seat. My darling friend who I was meeting (more about her next week!), asked me what my favourite part of the view was, so I pointed at the River Thames and told her: āWhy, itās the river of dreams!ā I could tell she was starting to embrace my love for London and ballet. My mission to get the whole world wearing a pink tutu is certainly a work in progress, but you never know... Maybe Iāll catch some of my followers having a ballet session in a local London park one day.
London by Train!
As the day wound down, the moon took centre stage over the twinkling city. I said a fond goodbye to my friend and hopped back on the train, already planning next weekās visit! You see, my tutu just doesnāt know how to stop spinning ā Londonās got that kind of magic.
And to top it off, nothing beats arriving back home in Derbyshire to the sound of gentle rain on the window. The train ride back was delightful. It was quite dreamy, just me, the rocking rhythm of the train and my imagination swirling like my tutu.

Love, Emma, (And of course, the Pink Tutu!)
