Pink Tutu Blog London: #895 - London Calling! 🩰

Friday 25th October, 2013

Good morning, darlings! It's Emma here, and you won't believe what I've been up to! I finally made it to the Big Smoke - London! I boarded the train from my little Derbyshire village yesterday morning, feeling like a ballerina on her way to the big performance, tucking into a lovely breakfast of pink grapefruit and croissants. Honestly, there's something about the rhythm of the train, the chugging along the tracks, that always makes me want to pirouette!

Oh, and did I mention I was sporting a new pink tutu, of course! It's a little number with shimmering sequins and a gorgeous fluffy skirt, just perfect for a day of exploring the capital. You see, London has such a glamorous vibe, a sense of history and excitement, it makes me want to twirl like nobody's watching! And besides, who doesn't love a little bit of pink sparkle?

I arrived at Paddington Station feeling so full of anticipation. The city buzzed with activity - bustling tourists, red double-decker buses and the faint sound of music from a nearby busker. It was magical! The air was crisp and cool, tinged with the smell of autumn leaves and chimney smoke, and I couldn't wait to delve into the heart of this iconic city.

First on the agenda, tea! I just had to find a proper London tea room and indulge in a spot of afternoon tea with a side of delicious cake. Thankfully, my little notebook full of London recommendations came in handy - The Wolseley looked positively fabulous!

Stepping into the grand old café felt like stepping back in time. With its elegant decor, marble columns and beautiful chandeliers, it was like being transported into a scene from a period film. Of course, my pink tutu stood out (in the best way possible!) among the smartly-dressed ladies in their tweed and furs.

As I nibbled on a dainty finger sandwich, the tea - strong and fragrant - warmed my soul, and the conversation around me crackled with the excitement of Londoners and tourists alike.

My afternoon tea over, I headed to the Theatre Royal Haymarket, and boy, did I choose the right day for a treat! "The Importance of Being Earnest" was playing! This is the iconic Oscar Wilde play with its witty characters and brilliant repartee! I'd heard so much about it, but to actually be in the audience at this gorgeous theatre, well, it was pure delight!

The play itself was even more dazzling than I'd imagined, and I found myself laughing along with the packed house. Seeing this hilarious performance in a historic theatre was simply magic! I felt truly immersed in the story, surrounded by a sense of joy and artistic wonder.

Afterwards, I indulged in a quick spot of window shopping in Piccadilly. This vibrant, buzzing street with its elegant shops and vibrant atmosphere truly felt like the beating heart of London. There's just something about seeing the mannequins in their fabulous outfits and the window displays so creative and artistic that makes you want to indulge! I already know exactly which shop I'll be visiting tomorrow for some retail therapy.

Dinner, of course, had to be something special! A bit of research had revealed that Covent Garden was brimming with foodie delights, so I decided to treat myself to a meal at one of its many fabulous restaurants. I opted for a lovely, intimate Italian place and savored delicious pasta with a glass of red wine, whilst enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. It felt like the perfect ending to my exciting day in London.

Walking back to my hotel through the late evening streets, I noticed how the city shimmered under the streetlamps - the majestic buildings cast long shadows on the cobblestone pavements, creating a beautiful scene of city romance. And there I was, in my pink tutu, my heart overflowing with happiness, as the evening came to an end.

Back in my room, as I wrote my blog, a sudden feeling of excitement overtook me. Tomorrow is Saturday - a day dedicated to fashion, dance, and, of course, a little bit of London glamour!

I can't wait to tell you all about my London adventures in the days to come! Stay tuned!

And please do send me your tips for your favourite London shops, cafes, and performances - I want to experience all this amazing city has to offer!

## Pink Tutu Blog London: #896 - A Day of Twirling and Indulgence! 🩰

Friday, 26th October, 2013

Hello my gorgeous tutu-lovers!

Welcome back to my London adventures! The energy of this city is contagious! I woke up this morning feeling like I could conquer the world (and maybe twirl across the Houses of Parliament in my pink tutu while I was at it!).

But before I embark on any epic dance routines in front of the nation's historical landmarks, let's talk about fashion! Because darling, London is a haven for any fashionista with a discerning eye, especially when it comes to finding those unique pieces that really make you stand out!

First up on my Saturday morning itinerary was a trip to the Notting Hill Portobello Road Market. Oh, the things I saw! Vintage treasures galore, colourful stalls brimming with bohemian charm, and those delightfully quirky and eccentric shops tucked away in hidden corners. I felt like I'd stepped into a storybook - the colours, the textures, the delightful aromas…

After scouring the stalls, I couldn't resist adding a few lovely treasures to my collection - a pair of antique earrings with delicate rose gold detailing, a gorgeous vintage silk scarf that would perfectly complement any of my outfits, and a pair of bright pink platform shoes with floral embroidery - a total dream! They're the perfect statement piece, don't you think?

But even shopping takes a backseat when the call of ballet is in the air! Today I treated myself to a very special indulgence - a private ballet class at the Royal Academy of Dance. Now, anyone who knows me knows I love a good dance class, but to have a lesson in this world-renowned studio, well, that was a dream come true!

The teacher was an absolute sweetheart and, oh my goodness, she was such a talented dancer! She gracefully led us through warm-up exercises, and even introduced us to some beautiful classical choreography. For a while, the studio felt like my own personal haven where I could fully embrace the beauty of ballet. The joy of twirling and pirouetteing surrounded by so much passion was utterly inspiring!

Feeling wonderfully inspired, I then treated myself to a spot of lunch in Fitzrovia. This vibrant district oozes charm and artistic energy. There's something magical about walking through those little backstreets and finding quaint cafés and galleries that have managed to remain unspoiled by the rush of city life.

For my afternoon, I wanted a spot of quiet and reflection, so I headed to the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. I've seen performances here before, but walking through the empty hall today, with the sun streaming through the giant glass roof, was truly a remarkable experience. It reminded me that every dance, every performance, every step I take in my life has its own magic and potential for beauty.

Speaking of magic, it was then time for the theatrical treat of the day! My trip wouldn't be complete without catching a musical. And guess what, "Les Misérables" was playing in the West End! The story, the music, the amazing vocals... everything about it simply swept me away. I was glued to the stage, watching these talented performers create a symphony of emotion and brilliance.

That evening, feeling utterly exhausted from a day of culture, shopping and music, I retreated back to my hotel. The streets felt buzzing and alive as I strolled past, a mix of tired tourists and enthusiastic Londoners ready to begin their Saturday evening escapades.

There's something about being in a city as vibrant and full of energy as London, isn't there? You simply cannot help but be drawn in by its infectious enthusiasm! I felt happy, tired, and totally satisfied!

Well, I’m off now to dream of waltzing in the ballet studio, searching for that perfect vintage find in a bustling market and basking in the energy of the West End.

Pink Tutu Blog London: #897 - A Sunday Funday in London!🩰

Friday, 27th October, 2013

Good morning, gorgeous tutu-lovers! I hope your week has started well, because mine certainly did! My London adventure continues and trust me, there’s more fun in store. And as always, my beloved pink tutu is here to brighten things up wherever I go.

Now, if you know anything about me, you’ll know I LOVE Sunday mornings. And a Sunday in London feels particularly special! There’s a sense of relaxation, a slightly slower pace to the day. The air has a touch of crispness, the light has a special warmth.

This Sunday I decided to go for a leisurely stroll through Hyde Park. This sprawling green space is London’s own piece of heaven! Walking through the autumn leaves, listening to the chattering birds, and simply enjoying the quiet serenity of this park is the perfect antidote to a busy week.

Speaking of serenity, it’s so easy to let the vibrant energy of London engulf you! But for a girl who loves her dance and a little peace and quiet, a trip to the ballet was the perfect antidote. Today, I indulged in the ultimate ballerinas’ treat: “Sleeping Beauty.”

I love how a beautiful fairytale ballet takes you to another world – where romance blooms, spells are cast, and the magical kingdom unfolds with each pirouette! It reminded me once again, just why ballet holds such a special place in my heart! I love it for its sheer elegance, for its captivating stories, for its emotional depth and graceful movements, and for the simple joy of a beautiful performance. I always feel so inspired when I watch talented ballerinas move with grace, and that feeling lingers all day!

But as much as I love dance, I couldn't resist indulging my sweet tooth! After my ballet experience, I was ready for a little treat and found the most charming little café with a delectable menu of freshly-baked goodies. Of course, I had to go for something pink, so a delectable slice of strawberry cake with pink icing and whipped cream filled my tummy and brought a huge smile to my face!

And because my travels wouldn't be complete without a touch of royal glamour, a visit to Buckingham Palace was a must. Just standing before that incredible building, with its beautiful facade and golden gates, is enough to make anyone feel a little bit special. Seeing those iconic gates and guards is such a quintessentially London experience.

London, in a nutshell: a place that mixes historic grandeur and vibrant modernity with so much charm and ease! This city is so well-loved for a reason! I'm constantly discovering new things and getting lost in the beauty and diversity. I’m not sure what the coming weeks will hold, but one thing’s for sure – my pink tutu will be ready to twirl and explore wherever this magical journey leads me!

Don’t forget to join me for my Friday blog post – I'll be updating you on more adventures and London delights! And please feel free to share your favourite London haunts - I’d love to discover even more about this amazing city.

Until next week, dear tutu-lovers,
