Pink Tutu Blog London: #904 - Friday 2013-12-27: London Calling!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and oh my, have I got a day for you! The wind might be whipping, the clouds might be brooding, but the Pink Tutu is in London, and the mood is absolutely electric! This weekend, we're kicking off with a grand tour of the big smoke.

London's got that magical something that gets the blood pumping. I arrived just after lunchtime, fresh off the train from Derby. Nothing beats that feeling of pulling into King's Cross, that sense of possibility in the air.

After all, what's a girl to do on a Friday in London? First, a trip to Selfridges! (Have I told you about my latest obsession with polka dot headbands? They're SO fabulous with a tutu, darling. The girls at Liberty are always so kind too, especially when I explain the polka-dot theme is for a big Ballet Street Performance.) Next? Let's just say, a bit of afternoon tea in Harrods and then a stroll down Bond Street, shopping till I drop - literally, darling. My feet can barely handle it all.

My heart is aflutter for this week's treat! This Friday evening, I'm off to see the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House! Oh, I've always loved this ballet, the costumes, the music. It's pure magic. It makes me want to whip out my own tutu and twirl right into the middle of the stage, but I'll leave that to the professionals! You wouldn't believe the amount of preparation it takes for one of these performances - you've got to stay absolutely dedicated. (Not that I would know from experience, of course...)

For today, though, it's about embracing that magical London vibe. From the twinkling lights of Piccadilly Circus, to the history of St. Paul's Cathedral, this city just sings. The scent of roast chestnuts on the street, the excited chatter, the colourful shops - London's a treasure trove.

I don't even know where to start with today's outfit. It's a tough call: my "pink is the new black" ensemble, with a fuchsia-sequined tutu and that divine new feather boa? Or perhaps my emerald green, beaded number, just the right mix of glamour and "I can dance all night". I guess we'll see! But darling, there will definitely be pink, that's a guarantee!

So grab a cuppa, find your most comfy pair of flats, and join me as I explore all that London has to offer!

Remember: the most important thing is to wear your heart on your sleeve, and a little bit of pink tutu on your legs.

*Have a fabulous Friday, darlings! *

*Lots of Love, Emma *

* Pink Tutu Blog London: A Friday in London: A Pink Tutu Story * * My London Fashion *

You betcha! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog post without a proper outfit reveal! My London look is an homage to the glamour of the West End. Imagine, if you will, a sparkling pink tutu, the fabric shimmering with silver thread, like a ballerina's dream.

Now, I've gotta say, this little number is from my new favourite vintage shop near Oxford Circus, called "Cherished Treasures". (Do pop in and say hello, darling. You'll thank me later.) And what makes this tutu so special? It has tiny little black ballet slippers attached at the bottom! So, the tutu doubles as a dress, a real two-in-one! And you wouldn't believe the bargains I've found there! I found the perfect sequinned shrug that just brings out the pink. And my cherry red faux fur jacket, perfect for the chilly London winds? It practically leaped into my arms!

Oh, and did I mention my fabulous hat? A wide-brimmed straw beauty, covered with pink flowers! (Let's just say, there's not a bit of my pink tulle peeking out!) A total "London ballerina on a weekend shopping spree" look, wouldn't you agree?

My Pink Tutu Journey

Let's rewind, shall we? How did I even end up here in London? A ballet dancer, obsessed with pink tutus? Well, it started way back in Derbyshire.

The story goes something like this: As a little girl, I loved watching the ballerinas pirouette and leap across the stage, especially those costumes, the bright pink tutus, they always captured my imagination. I yearned to dance like them, to express myself with graceful movements. And I was lucky, because our local dance school welcomed me with open arms. It didn't take long for me to find my groove!

That love for the ballet stayed with me, and it's still going strong! I fund my travelling ballet passion, (like this trip!), with performances around the country, sometimes even on a Friday, (although I always manage to snag some quality shopping time after the show!).

This trip to London is more than just a "dance into the big city" - It's an exploration! It's discovering new ballet shows, new fashion hotspots, new cafes and new places to twirl! You wouldn't believe how much pink inspiration this city provides!

* My Pink Tutu Wishlist *

Talking of inspiration, I've just had an absolute blast finding all these delightful places. And with so many treats, London always fills me up with more than enough pink tutu inspiration!

First on the list, for all those fashionistas and ballerinas, I've found the cutest shop! " Tutu Heaven!" - it's packed full of pink tutus of every imaginable size and colour - just off the King's Road. (The price tags were a tad scary, but darling, who can resist a little luxury treat?)

This shop, and a little place I stumbled across near the theatre district called "Dance Dreams" just put me in such a mood for pink. They had these fantastic pink ballet shoes. Imagine it, darling: Sparkling, pink shoes, a classic pointy toe design with little pink satin bows - Oh my! Oh and you just HAVE to try their cupcakes, they are to die for!

My Pink Tutu wish list is getting quite the workout! And my shopping bag is bursting with amazing finds: a tiny pink satin bag, (to put all those lovely ballet accessories!), pink ballet flats, perfect for twirling the day away and a box of glittery pink nail polish. (For that finishing touch, naturally!)

* Friday Fun! *

What could be more fabulous than ending this Pink Tutu blog adventure with some London fun? Tonight, darling, it's the Nutcracker. Oh, this ballet always sends me into a dreamlike state, the story, the costumes, the music - it's pure perfection.

I have to tell you about a fantastic little ballet school I found on my travels this morning. It's near the Tate Modern, and it's tucked away on a quiet little side street. I had to pop in! And you know what? It was amazing. Full of eager little ballerinas, their pink tutus whirling in the studio. I almost begged the teacher to let me join the class. There's just something about a tutu-filled class, it makes me feel a little girl again.

Speaking of magical London experiences, there's a little place I want to mention, (not quite as glamorous as the Opera House, but trust me, it's perfect for those wanting to embrace the London vibe!) This afternoon, as I wandered past Covent Garden, I spotted a sweet, cozy tea shop named " The Rose Petal Tearoom." ( It was tucked in an old alleyway behind a bookshop.) They had the most delicate finger sandwiches and a massive pot of steaming hot tea! The atmosphere was enchanting. (Honestly, this tearoom would give anyone an excuse for a pink tulle inspired tea party. Just imagine!)

Today was a journey through the world of pink tutus. We shopped, we ate, we even took in a bit of culture - and darling, you know I wouldn't have it any other way!

The night's only getting started, so be sure to follow me next week, when I will be exploring another amazing city. There's more pink tulle in store, more fabulous outfits to share, more ballet inspiration - and a whole lot of London fun, darling!
