Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #905)

Friday, January 3rd, 2014

Hello darlings! I'm so excited to finally be back in London! This week I'm spending a few days in the Big Smoke before I head off to a stunning ballet performance in the West End. It's such a magical experience seeing the artistry and grace of the dancers. It always makes me feel so inspired. I've also got a ballet class booked on Saturday with my favourite tutor – she's an absolute legend!

For those of you who don't know, I hail from Derbyshire, a beautiful county with rolling hills and a bit of a more laid-back vibe than London. But this little country girl is absolutely head over heels for the hustle and bustle of the city. The energy here is electric, and it makes me want to spin!

I took the train to London today, and you know how much I love a train journey. It gives me time to relax and people-watch. My favourite part of any train journey is when I'm finally gliding through the countryside and catching glimpses of the ever-changing scenery. It's such a wonderful reminder that even though London is the centre of my universe, there's a whole world beyond the city limits!

Today I woke up early and popped on my favourite pink tutu, this one with a fabulous frilly skirt that would make any ballerina jealous. It was all ready for its first appearance of the day – and I’m certainly not one for being subtle. You see, my dream is to see the entire world embracing pink tutus – it would be a symphony of swirling pink, a visual spectacle for the ages! So naturally, I had to start in my favourite city!

First stop – Covent Garden. I love the energy and the history here. It's a feast for the senses, with its colourful market stalls, street performers, and beautiful architecture. I stopped for a delicious afternoon tea at the enchanting The Ivy. My teacup was the prettiest pink and I couldn't resist indulging in a slice of raspberry cake with my favourite blend.

Then, of course, I ventured out into the shopping haven of Oxford Street. It's my playground of possibilities! From the latest fashion trends to those quintessential British classics, it has it all! This season, I'm loving blush pinks and shimmering metallics. It’s all about that fabulous, festive vibe, even though Christmas is officially over.

The shops themselves are an experience. The stunning shop window displays of Harrods are something else - they put on an incredible Christmas show every year, and it was magical. Then I visited the iconic Selfridges, with its bright and cheerful atmosphere. Honestly, my handbag nearly burst with all my fabulous finds!

You can't forget about the classic street art and quirky shops of Soho, which is always a good place for a laugh and an adventure. You can always count on it to provide that eclectic mix of culture and creativity, it's so unique.

After my shopping expedition, I ventured down to Trafalgar Square, a magnificent space at the heart of London. It's the perfect place to admire the beautiful architecture, grab a bite to eat from one of the numerous food stalls, and admire the magnificent lion sculptures guarding Nelson’s Column. This year's festive display was something else – they've really gone all out!

And naturally, I had to stop for some fish and chips at one of London's iconic fish and chip shops – it’s just not a trip to London without them! Even the tastiest food tastes better on the move when you can take in all the exciting energy that comes with exploring a new part of the city. I just adore soaking it all up.

Today's the start of my whirlwind London adventure. With my packed schedule full of exciting experiences, the days ahead are guaranteed to be filled with music, movement, and the spirit of London's creativity.
