Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #909)

Friday, January 31st, 2014

Oh darling! What a week it's been! My little pink tutu-clad feet have barely touched the ground since Monday. I've been twirling and pirouette-ing my way across the Derbyshire countryside, teaching ballet classes to little cherubs and even performing in a benefit concert for a local hospice. It was absolutely magical! But you know what's even more magical? London!

Yes, my lovelies, your favourite pink-loving ballerina is off to the big city for the weekend! My faithful companion (my pink and silver Cath Kidston suitcase filled with an arsenal of tulle and glitter) is already packed, and I'm currently on the 10:30 express train from Derby to London, with my trusty ballet bag at my side (which, naturally, contains my fabulous pink tutu).

I can't tell you how excited I am. I adore travelling by train. The clickety-clack rhythm of the tracks always sets me in a happy mood, especially when I'm dressed in my favourite ballerina attire. (Today it's a delightful vintage-style pink tutu, a ruffled blouse, and a pale pink knitted cardigan that my grandma gave me - so sweet!) There's something truly enchanting about gazing out the window at the ever-changing landscapes. Today the snow is falling in big, fat flakes, and I can almost see the city sparkling under a dusting of frost – London truly is a fairytale in winter!

But enough about the journey. Let’s get down to the good stuff - my London adventures! The aim is simple: twirl, dance, shop, see a show… and wear pink tutus of course! I'm aiming for maximum pink-tutu power – after all, what's London without a touch of sparkle and joy?

This week, London is buzzing with events. The Royal Opera House is showcasing Swan Lake, and I just had to get tickets. A tutu is a must, wouldn’t you say? We have a world-renowned ballet troupe in our midst – it's a rare treat I simply can't miss! And oh, the fashion… you can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to be scouring Liberty's for some fabulous frocks! (And maybe even a tiny little pink tutu – never can have enough!)

I’m particularly excited to see the latest exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. They're showcasing 150 years of ballet costumes, which will be a complete and utter dream! And to top it all off, a delightful trip to the theatre – I'm going to be watching the hilarious musical Mamma Mia! I just adore musicals. I could watch Cats every day if I could (just maybe not in a pink tutu! They’re not exactly famous for their dance routines!)

And if I'm lucky, perhaps I’ll have time to pop into one of the West End ballet classes. I have a soft spot for Covent Garden. There's just so much energy and inspiration there! They hold wonderful drop-in ballet classes for adults and kids - all levels welcome. It’s an incredible way to keep fit, stay connected with my passion for dance, and meet people who share my love of all things twirling.

Oh darling! I just realised - this is my 909th post. That seems like a milestone, wouldn’t you say? 909 times I've shared my adventures and thoughts with you, 909 times I've tried to bring a touch of sparkle and joy into your world, and 909 times I've encouraged you to embrace the power of pink and the magic of tutus. It truly warms my heart that you’re joining me on this journey, each week. You know, we’re a community, aren’t we? The Pink Tutu Collective. So exciting, isn't it?

Well, I’m going to start packing away the contents of my lovely pink makeup bag – I have to have enough lip gloss for the weekend! See you all soon! And if you're in London and happen to spot a girl twirling around in a pink tutu… It's probably just me!

P.S. I'm sure my next post will be filled with lots of pictures, so keep an eye out for those!
