Pink Tutu Blog London: Post Number 940 - Friday 2014-09-05: London Calling!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, here, ready to share all the pink-tastic fun I had in London this week!

As you know, my little pink heart beats faster for the big smoke - London's got this magical vibe that gets me all excited. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a day exploring all the gorgeous shops, grabbing a fab afternoon tea, and maybe catching a brilliant ballet show?

From Derbyshire to London by Train

I've gotta tell you, travelling by train is one of my absolute favourite things! This Friday morning I boarded the train from Derbyshire, and the journey was such a dream! All aboard with my fluffy pink backpack, comfy ballet flats, and of course, a fabulously sparkly pink tutu! The views were just spectacular as we glided through the countryside.

The Royal Opera House and a Breathtaking Ballet Performance

My first stop was the stunning Royal Opera House! I mean, come on, whatā€™s more magical than a day spent in the theatre, taking in some beautiful ballet?

Today, I saw the Royal Ballet's production of ā€œThe Sleeping Beauty,ā€ which was utterly phenomenal! Every pirouette, every jetĆ© was perfect, and the costumes were absolutely breath-taking! You know I have a soft spot for ballerinas who can twirl in the most exquisite tutus ā€“ this one didnā€™t disappoint. Iā€™m so glad I caught it before it ended its run.

Afterwards, I wandered through the enchanting Covent Garden. There were buskers, flowers, yummy treats everywhere ā€“ perfect for a girly afternoon. I popped into a few quaint tea rooms, nibbled on a delicate scone with jam and cream (itā€™s a MUST in London!), and had the most fabulous hot chocolate.

Shopping Therapy in the Big Smoke

No trip to London is complete without a bit of retail therapy, right? So, I took a little trip to Oxford Street and wandered around the massive shops. I adore picking up little bits and pieces - it doesnā€™t matter if itā€™s a tiny pair of ballet earrings, a pink sparkly clutch bag or a gorgeous new silk scarf, it all gets added to my growing collection!

After all the shopping excitement, I found myself on the edge of Hyde Park. The afternoon sun was just beginning to set and the park was bathed in the most gorgeous golden light. It's hard to resist stopping to enjoy the beautiful setting! So I grabbed myself an ice-cream from one of the many stalls nearby and sat down on a bench with my trusty notebook and made some notes about the day so far.

Finding the Perfect Pink Tutu

Being a bit obsessed with tutus, I couldnā€™t leave London without visiting Liberty! They have this absolutely stunning fabric and craft section with just about every colour of fabric imaginable. I spent ages just wandering around and feeling the fabrics and gazing at the sheer quantity of inspiration! Thereā€™s no surprise I bought several metres of sparkly pink silk, of course.

And of course, my hunt for a new pink tutu couldnā€™t end without a stop at Tutu Du Monde in Knightsbridge. Every time I walk into this shop I can't help but feel giddy. There were SO MANY beautiful designs, it took me ages to decide! You'd think after years of searching Iā€™d have figured it out! But in the end, I did choose one! Itā€™s a delicate peach shade with beautiful feather detailing, I just couldn't resist it!

My Little Pink Dream - Ballet Performance for the Evening

Later that evening, I popped along to the West End theatre to catch ā€œAn American in Paris,ā€ an amazing musical! I am so in love with the music, and I think it captured the magic of Paris in such a creative way! The whole production was beautiful with incredible dancers who made the most of every single step. And of course, my love of all things sparkly meant I adored the costumes! Iā€™d highly recommend catching it if you get a chance.

The evening came to an end with a walk back to my little apartment in Camden, tired and utterly exhilarated. It had been a day filled with so many fun and pretty things - it was exactly the kind of day that made me want to spread the love of pink and tutus.

Inspiring Your Own Tutu Journey!

Remember, darling, itā€™s all about finding what makes your heart happy and rocking it with confidence. Iā€™d love to see your outfits, so if you ever give the tutu look a go, make sure to tag me on social media! Every single one of you is a dancing queen!

See you all next Friday with another new blog post! Until then, keep sparkling, my friends!

Lots of Love,

Emma
