Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #970 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!

Hello lovelies!

It's Friday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog post! This week, I'm bursting with excitement as I've just spent a gloriously sunny day in the wonderful city of London! It felt like ages since my last visit, and I just knew I needed a dose of that city energy, and maybe some retail therapy, naturally!

I left Derbyshire this morning, feeling a delightful mix of nervous excitement and the giddy joy that only a train journey can bring. (Just me or do train journeys feel incredibly glamorous?) The views were glorious, the carriage was warm and inviting, and I was, of course, dressed to impress. Think sunshine yellow ballet wrap top and, yes, you guessed it, my most loved pink tutu. It just feels right for London.

I reached Paddington station and was greeted by the familiar whirring, bustling energy of the city. This is what I love about London - it's so alive, with stories unfolding everywhere. And the Londoners - oh, so full of character!

First things first: ballet, of course! I was in town for the first night of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House. The excitement, the costumes, the pure talent of those dancers! It made my toes itch to dance, and that is always a good sign.

After the ballet, it was time for dinner and shopping in Covent Garden! Honestly, that market is like a giant, delicious, glittery explosion of culture! We tucked into the most divine veggie wraps, and then it was time to explore. And by explore, I mean browse the fabulous array of boutiques! You know how it is: ballet tutus by day, fabulous outfits for a night out by… well, you get the picture!

I found the most amazing little shop tucked away on a side street, filled with vintage clothing and the kind of unique jewelry that makes my heart sing. It was a treasure trove, with everything from vintage sequined dresses to amazing hats and accessories. You can see my latest finds on my Instagram, of course!

Later, after a truly delightful afternoon, it was time for another exciting bit of theatre. We took a short, rather romantic, stroll to the Shakespeare's Globe to catch a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Now, I know the play itself is a bit of a comedy, but the performance we saw was so intensely beautiful - the music, the costumes, the emotion – it all blended together so perfectly. The setting, being under the stars on the banks of the Thames, just added another layer of magic.

Of course, my visit wouldn’t be complete without some tea and cake. This time, I found myself drawn to the heart of the West End - the beautiful Fortnum & Mason tea salon. The tea itself was delicious (we had Earl Grey, obviously!), but the cakes were the true star of the show. Their signature strawberry tart was a perfect blend of sweet and creamy, and I felt so utterly decadent I almost didn’t want to leave!

By the time I caught my train back to Derbyshire, I was exhausted but happy. It was such a wonderful, fast-paced day! And as I watched the city lights flicker past the train window, I knew I would be back. London always pulls me back, and every time I go, I feel re-energised and inspired.

Next week, I’ll be posting about some new ballet-inspired outfits, inspired by my weekend in London. It might include a new, shimmering tutu! You'll just have to wait and see. And in the meantime, don’t forget to share your own ballet stories and outfits in the comments below!

Remember, pink tutus for everyone!
