Pink Tutu Blog London: #992 – A Whirlwind Friday in the Capital! 🩰💖
Hello, darlings! It’s Emma here, and I’m so thrilled to be back with you for another fabulous Friday in London! I’m still giddy from my train journey up from Derbyshire, the gentle rhythmic clatter of the wheels against the tracks always fills me with excitement. It’s just like my ballet steps, you see, a beautiful, flowing rhythm!
As you all know, I love a good train journey! It’s a chance to relax, admire the changing scenery, and, of course, enjoy a spot of people-watching, because, let’s face it, a well-observed train journey is an absolute masterclass in human nature! This Friday's journey was no exception – there was a gentleman with a suitcase bursting at the seams, a gaggle of schoolgirls on their way to a field trip (oh to be that young again!) and a family excitedly discussing their plans for a weekend in the city. It's all part of the tapestry of travel, my dears.
Speaking of the tapestry, I thought I'd be extra creative with my look for London this week! I’ve paired a soft pink tutu with a fluffy cream cardigan, topped off with my favourite sparkly pink hairband (more is more, remember?!) I also picked up a pair of sparkly, ruby red ballerina pumps on my way to the station. Perfect for hopping on and off the tube, and even better for twirling across the iconic London pavements.
This Friday is packed full of exciting plans. First stop, a delicious pastry from that divine French boulangerie down the street from my favourite boutique. I’m not sure anything else in the world quite beats the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the air, It's positively heavenly. Plus, the shop always has the most beautiful flowers, reminding me of those ballerinas on the stage, always so graceful and elegant, aren't they?
After my morning indulgence, it’s time to get into the heart of London – and by "heart", I mean the dazzling Regent Street! The perfect place for a bit of window shopping and fashion inspiration. And oh my, the display at that boutique on the corner – oh, the dream dresses, the stunning coats, the accessories so delicate they would make a ballerina jealous! You wouldn't believe the amazing colours and textures - so rich and extravagant. But I think the highlight for me was that gorgeous emerald green velvet hat with a touch of red satin, such a vibrant and sophisticated splash of colour!
You know me, I'm always inspired by the fashion and design. Maybe that's why I find London so magnetic? It’s such a thriving creative hub, bursting with energy. It’s also such an historical city – every corner I turn holds centuries of stories. So after my fashion fix, it’s time for some culture – a visit to the glorious Victoria and Albert Museum, an absolute must for any aspiring ballerina, in my humble opinion. I love to see the exquisite craftsmanship, the artistry that pours into every detail – it’s just so inspiring!
And now for something special... drum roll please ... a delightful afternoon tea at the Ritz! I just had to dress for the occasion. Pink tutu and sparkly headband? Definitely! A touch of vintage glam. So what did I pick? Well, a beautiful cerise teacup set with gold detail, it simply twinkled in the afternoon light. A dainty, but perfect addition to my tutu look! Of course, it's not a true afternoon tea without a spot of finger sandwiches and a freshly-baked scone with jam and cream.
But I must admit, the most delightful thing about the whole experience was being surrounded by so many fabulous ladies all looking equally stylish, some in beautiful dresses and some even in their own pink tutus! Imagine, my dears, all these glamorous women enjoying afternoon tea together, just a magical moment!
As evening descended, I made my way to the London Coliseum for a stunning performance of 'Swan Lake'. Oh, the grace! The passion! The incredible leaps and fouetté turns! This performance just reaffirmed my love for the ballet, it's so emotionally powerful. I’ve already booked tickets to see another ballet show next week – 'Giselle', and I just know it's going to be brilliant.
Before I head home, I’m treating myself to a late night, light-up latte (yes, the coffee comes with shimmering lights inside - don’t even ask me how!) at that charming cafe with the vintage furniture in Covent Garden. Such a treat after all those amazing ballet moves, you know! And hey, why not live a little? Just a little treat for me after such a glorious London day.
The train home will be filled with thoughts of ballet and twinkling pink lights and stories from my London day. A journey to share with all of you, my dears, as I write and ponder over this exciting adventure. You’ll have to see for yourself, just how fabulous this city is. And don't forget, don't be afraid to let your inner pink tutu princess shine! Until next Friday, stay fabulous, my loves!
Much love, Emma xxx
