Pink Tutu Blog London: #995 - London Calling! (2015-09-25)

Oh, London, you sassy minx! You've pulled me back into your enchanting embrace once more. As the train rumbled into King's Cross, the unmistakable energy of the capital city buzzed around me. The scent of autumn leaves and roasting chestnuts tickled my senses. My tutu fluttered in the gentle breeze – you can't get away from a pink tutu, darlings, even when you're tucked away on a train journey!

This week, I'm feeling utterly inspired! My latest performance went down a storm, my pointe shoes have never felt so light, and my little pink piggy bank is just brimming with London pounds – thank you, theatre-loving audiences, you truly are my rock! I’m excited to lose myself in the city’s glorious theatres, charming boutiques, and, of course, the quintessential London afternoon tea, complete with tiny sandwiches and delicately tiered cakes!

Speaking of tutus… London is a city of sartorial wonders, and I plan on taking full advantage! A pink tutu is, of course, a must-have in any wardrobe, but London has so much more to offer! I've already eyed a delectable vintage coat at the charming vintage store on Brick Lane, and the colour is simply divine - just the right shade to make a statement but still subtle enough for my signature pink tutu! And, as we speak, I’ve got my eye on the cutest pink ballerina flats at Liberty. You just can’t go wrong with Liberty London, you see, it's pure London enchantment.

Of course, I wouldn't be true to myself, my followers, or my mission – "Make the World Pink Tutu!" – if I didn’t sneak in some dance inspiration! Today, a magical ballet show is calling my name. The Royal Opera House is putting on a spectacular production of Giselle. How utterly charming. It’s pure London magic, and you can't beat a good old fashioned ballet story – romance, heartache, and of course, that captivating corps de ballet in pristine white tutus… sigh, there is simply nothing more magical!

And what would London be without a bit of theatricality? A Shakespearean tragedy at The Globe is definitely on my agenda! A classic play at a historic venue with breathtaking riverside views is just too enticing! Perhaps I’ll indulge in a glass of English sparkling wine and soak up the ambience with some lovely cheese and crackers afterwards – oh, how very London!

The best bit? My weekend's already been filled with delightful happenings! Yesterday I was swept away by the joyous bustle of Camden Market - the aroma of street food was just heavenly! I found a darling, pink and glittery hair clip in the back corner of a stall overflowing with quirky wares… a true vintage find!

My Top 5 Tips for a Fantastic Pink Tutu Weekend in London:

  1. Pink is Everything: Don't be shy, London is a city for celebrating your style, so let that pink tutu fly! You can find amazing, quirky shops like Miss Selfridge or The White Company, perfect for finding the perfect pink piece to complement your signature pink tutu.
  2. Ride the Underground like a Pro: I love taking the tube. It’s so quintessentially London. Make sure to download the Transport for London (TfL) app; it’s a godsend for navigating London’s extensive underground network!
  3. Lunch Like a Lady: A traditional pub lunch in Hampstead is an absolute must, complete with hearty homemade pies, and cider of course! Don’t forget to save room for a lovely London afternoon tea later on… a decadent delight, every single time!
  4. Chase Your Dreams: London has so many exciting venues, from The National Theatre to the incredible London Eye for stunning views of the city skyline – oh, how London can steal your heart!
  5. Be Brave: Don't just sit in your hotel room! The city is begging to be explored! Hop on a London double-decker bus, stroll along Piccadilly Street, and enjoy a leisurely riverboat trip for the most quintessential London experience!

London, oh, how you get under my skin, your magic runs in my blood and inspires my spirit! Each time I visit I feel like a ballerina in a swirling ballet of emotions – the colour, the laughter, the joy of discovery. You can bet your pink tutu that I’ll be back for another London escapade! And if I've inspired even one person to wear a pink tutu today… that, my darlings, makes it all worthwhile!

Love and Pink Tutues,
