Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday 2015-10-16 - Exploring London in a Whirlwind of Pink!

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe!

It’s Friday and you know what that means... another thrilling instalment of my Pink Tutu Blog London! This week, I’m buzzing about my trip to the Big Smoke - and trust me, I'm using the phrase "Big Smoke" a lot this week. It's a Friday classic, innit?

Anyway, I boarded the train from Derbyshire bright and early on Friday morning. Yes, you guessed it! Dressed to the nines in my latest pink tutu masterpiece. My raison d’être, you know. Getting everyone to embrace the joy of twirling! My train journeys are always filled with a sense of adventure, the gentle sway of the train carrying me further into the heart of this wondrous city.

Let's get to the nitty-gritty - today's adventure began with a visit to The Victoria and Albert Museum. Now, this museum is a true treasure trove of beautiful things! It’s absolutely enormous! There are costumes and jewellery from centuries past - I even saw some tutus in the Victorian section, how fab! I love browsing through their fashion displays, they always spark some serious #ootd inspiration. You’ll definitely see those incorporated into my upcoming pink tutu wardrobe update!

Of course, no trip to London is complete without some serious shopping therapy! This Friday, my journey led me straight to the delightful shops of Notting Hill. Notting Hill is a dream! The charming streets, vibrant colour, and beautiful boutiques, oozing a trendy-chic vibe! It's impossible to leave empty-handed. Today, I picked up a divine pink floral scarf, a fluffy lilac cardigan for my next dance performance and some seriously cute ballet shoes to compliment my latest pink tutu creation.

Then, I strolled into the grand old Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington - an absolutely stunning venue. Now, if you are even the slightest bit curious about anything theatrical or musical, I suggest making this a stop on your London list! From the plush, red velvet seats to the grandeur of the hall itself, this iconic space just drips history! Even if you are not watching a show, you can just marvel at the intricate architecture and experience the incredible energy that buzzes within those walls. Just don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself longing to pirouette in the centre of the stage. I sure did!

Later that afternoon, I hopped back on a train - how fab are the London trains! Always keeping my London blog updated on the go, of course! Heading back towards the city centre, where the National Theatre is just waiting for me to explore. If there's one thing I can’t resist, it’s a stunning performance! My ticket is in hand and anticipation is bubbling over. I’ve heard wonderful things about their latest production. Let's just say I’m so ready for the drama to unfold! I mean, come on, a night at the theatre is a classic for a reason. The incredible storytelling, the beautiful costumes, and the sheer energy - a fantastic dose of theatre magic for my week.

For those who didn’t know - my passion for dancing and creating a whole world out of fabric (especially pink, obviously!) allows me to afford all of this. I’m fortunate enough to fund my adventures with a whirlwind schedule of dance performances. I do a lot of gigs and shows around Derbyshire and sometimes even a performance in London. That’s why I’m usually travelling by train every weekend! Ballet isn't just a hobby; it’s my driving force and passion! I always make time for at least a few classes at The Royal Opera House. Their ballet school has some of the most amazing instructors. Sometimes I even get to catch a show there – they put on amazing ballet shows with world-famous ballerinas. It truly is a breathtaking experience. And guess what? You can too! Get your tickets early, because seats fill up fast.

Tonight, the streets of London will come alive with twinkling lights and colourful festivities! I'm taking a break from ballet shoes and putting on a pair of glitzy heels for a night of laughter, cocktails, and fabulous company. Maybe even a little dancing. But don’t worry, my Tutu Tribe, I’ll make sure to document it all for next week’s Pink Tutu Blog London!

Fun Facts of the Week!

London’s history is jam-packed with iconic tales, but here’s something that might be new! This city has always been on the cutting edge of the theatre scene! In the 1500s, William Shakespeare himself wrote some of his best work in a theatre on Bankside. Even back then, the stage was a captivating world, inspiring the crowds!

For all you fashionistas, keep an eye out for the Fashion and Textile Museum, hidden away in Bermondsey. This museum showcases vintage and modern designs! This spot will have your inner stylist dancing for joy! And remember, it’s the London Fashion Week this time of year! Get ready to be wowed with some of the most avant-garde fashion from all over the world! This month is a true fashion dream come true.

Outfit of the Week!

Oh darling, where do I even begin? This week, I’m all about sparkle and shimmer. I paired a light pink tutu with a matching tulle shrug. For an extra dose of glamour, I layered on some vintage pearls and a headband with feathers – all the glitz, my dears, all the glitz!
