Pink Tutu Blog London #1028: A Tutu-licious Day in London!

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another week of Pink Tutu Blog London. I’m so excited to be back in London this week, my absolute favourite city in the world!

This week's trip is fuelled by the glorious ballet season, as always. This weekend sees me twirling around at The Royal Ballet with a performance of The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Oh, the costumes, the choreography, the romance! My wallet may be thinner by the end, but my soul is soaring from those ballets. My work in Derbyshire allows me to dance for you guys - and London!

As I step off the train at King's Cross, I'm immediately enveloped by that delicious London energy: a whirlwind of fashion, laughter, and the scent of fresh coffee. The air buzzes with excitement, and the sunshine dances through the grand Victorian architecture - perfect for a Friday adventure in my signature pink tutu. You’ll never catch me travelling without one, it adds that much-needed sparkle to every journey, don't you think?

This week, my tutu is a soft baby pink, just a hint of shimmer under the London lights. I’m wearing it over a fluffy white tutu dress – I picked this one up in Harrods the other week, it’s perfect for a day of exploring.

Speaking of exploring… this weekend's itinerary is a full one!

The Baker Street Bakery

The first stop for any ballerina on a mission in London, has to be a dose of caffeine. I mean, we burn a lot of calories pirouetting across the city, you know! This morning, we're starting off at my go-to bakery, a little gem hidden in a side street just off Baker Street - the "Baker Street Bakery". A quaint spot with delicious pastries, and freshly brewed coffee that awakens even the sleepiest ballerina.

I absolutely adored the poppy seed swirl, and it's accompanied by my usual oat milk latte, my daily ritual. And of course, a scone with clotted cream is non-negotiable for a perfect Friday. This was just the perfect pick-me-up, before heading into a day of London fun.

The London Ballet Boutique

My ballerina heart wouldn't be complete without a visit to London's exquisite "London Ballet Boutique." Just a few steps from The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, this shop is a heaven for dancers, with stunning shoes, costumes and even a special little boutique for tutu accessories.

As soon as I step into the store, I'm surrounded by layers of shimmering pink, purple, and scarlet silk tutus, a dancer's dream! The perfect tutu, like a ballet shoe, is a work of art - a tiny sculpture of exquisite artistry. They fit so beautifully and feel so comfortable! This was the best £150 I ever spent and I’m sure you guys agree.

A Theatre of Dreams: Hamilton and Covent Garden

No visit to London is complete without experiencing the magic of live theatre. This Friday, we’re heading to the West End - it just wouldn't be a London weekend without a musical. Today, I’m going to the Victoria Palace Theatre, for a performance of Hamilton - the hottest ticket in London at the moment. The music, the costumes, the story… oh, it’s all simply spectacular! A whirlwind of energy, colour, and emotion - just as captivating as a performance of Giselle!

And after that exhilarating evening, we’re taking a little walk to Covent Garden - such a charming, romantic spot. There’s a lovely ambiance there with bustling markets, street performers, and of course, The Royal Opera House – home to my beloved Royal Ballet! Just looking at that building makes me feel excited for the weekend ahead!

Dinner in Covent Garden

After our dose of West End culture, we're treating ourselves to a delicious Italian feast at "The Italian Job", in Covent Garden. The charming Italian restaurant boasts a romantic ambiance, making it perfect for a solo date night with my favorite meal - Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and a delicious tiramisu - oh, and a glass of Pinot Grigio. A perfect ending to a wonderful evening in the heart of London.

Saturday Brunch - The Ivy and Shopping for New Tutu Styles!

I simply couldn't go back to Derbyshire without treating myself to a special Saturday brunch, so my alarm is set for 10am sharp, as my weekend adventure continues at the iconic The Ivy in Covent Garden, my favorite spot for a luxurious brunch experience. The ambience is stylish, and the food is sensational – the Ivy Benedict is my all-time favourite! It's a perfect combination of creamy hollandaise sauce, perfectly poached eggs and toasted English muffins. My morning pick-me-up!

And, of course, what's a trip to London without some retail therapy! This Saturday is dedicated to hunting for new tutu designs! From vintage to contemporary styles, my love for tutus is a lifelong affair. A special little tutu shop in Marylebone is my go-to for delicate vintage designs.

I’m always looking for a unique piece, something that catches the eye and inspires me. Today, I snagged the most beautiful vintage ballerina-inspired tutu - the kind of delicate, sparkly tutu that's a piece of wearable art, a symbol of joy and a tribute to ballet history! And for a perfect addition to my outfit, I added a delicate floral pin - such a simple detail but makes my entire look pop.

Lunch with Friends in Shoreditch

There’s nothing like spending an afternoon with friends in Shoreditch, a buzzing district brimming with creativity and alternative fashion. A beautiful new coffee shop in Shoreditch is becoming my favorite spot for grabbing lunch - it has the perfect afternoon ambiance and the perfect ambiance for some gossip, and the food is scrumptious too. I even picked up some pink-tutu inspired postcards for you guys - they were all about pink ballet dresses with the sweetest little bows! We spent the afternoon just enjoying each other's company, a lovely reminder that life's greatest treasures are shared experiences and deep connections.

Sunday Relax & Reflect at Hyde Park

It's a well-known fact that London's Hyde Park is simply breathtaking. After a long week of sightseeing, the tranquil atmosphere of the park feels absolutely magical, and nothing less than a ballet class wouldn’t make this London experience complete. Hyde Park is simply breathtaking; its tranquil atmosphere feels absolutely magical after a long week of sightseeing.

A few friends joined me today at The Ballet Place in Notting Hill for some relaxed barre exercises in the sunshine, a perfect way to get my dance muscles moving on a Sunday morning! What's great about Notting Hill is the stunning colorful houses and that vibrant cafe culture which we embraced before heading back home.

A final thought…

As I pack my tutu and pink luggage, a sense of contentment washes over me. London is so much more than a city; it’s a kaleidoscope of inspiration and joy that I take home in my heart. This week’s adventures in London have recharged my creative battery, reminding me to embrace life with the same vibrant energy as a dancer, a dancer wearing a tutu.

Keep on dreaming, keep on dancing, and above all, don’t forget to embrace life with a little sparkle and pink tutu flair!

Until next week, my lovely tutu fans. And don’t forget to check out the website www.pink-tutu.com to learn more about my next ballet adventures!

Yours truly,

Emma

P.S You guys really need to start wearing pink tutus. It’s a wonderful way to embrace the world with a bit of fun and joy. 😉 Think of it, how amazing London would look with hundreds of tutu-clad ballerinas dancing through the streets.
