Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 1031 - Friday 2016-06-03 - Exploring Londontown!

Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, here, ready to whisk you away on another London adventure! This week, I traded my Derbyshire countryside for the bustling heart of London, fuelled by my passion for ballet and a desire to find the most fabulous pink tutu ever!

Journey by Rail

As a proper English girl, train travel is always a delight. My journey started with a jaunty trip on the Midland Main Line, watching the green countryside give way to the grey brick of London's outskirts. I couldn't resist slipping into my new pastel pink lace tutu and silk gloves, turning my carriage into my own personal theatre. The train is a fantastic opportunity for me to people-watch, a real anthropological expedition for any aspiring dancer, taking inspiration from the movement, grace, and sheer poise of everyday Londoners. And, of course, there's always the opportunity to spread a bit of tutu love! This week, I managed to convince a shy teenager to pose for a photo in my pink tutu. I'll be posting the picture on Instagram – you know I have to share the fun!

The Heart of London: A Dancer’s Paradise

London truly is a city where art and culture collide, creating a vibrant atmosphere perfect for a tutu-wearing ballerina. Stepping off the train at King’s Cross St. Pancras, the station buzzed with activity, from commuters in sharp suits to families on exciting holidays. The Victorian architecture and bustling crowds put me instantly in a theatrical mood.

My first stop, naturally, was the glorious Covent Garden. This historical, iconic spot was a wonderland of performers, vibrant food stalls, and buzzing crowds. I could almost feel the energy of the theatre pulsing through the cobblestone streets! A couple of street performers even caught my eye – a skilled, acrobatic duo balancing on balls and an awe-inspiring group of singers performing classic musical theatre. Honestly, every corner of London seems to offer a performance of some kind – what a treat for a ballet enthusiast!

Finding the Perfect Pink

I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring London’s boutiques and markets. London truly is a shopping haven. One of my favourite finds was a dazzling pink, feathered tutu from a vintage store on Portobello Road, perfectly imperfect with a hint of Bohemian flair. The intricate featherwork was just exquisite, a complete showstopper! I absolutely had to bring it home.

A perfect pink tutu calls for the perfect outfit, of course! So I spent a delightful hour in Liberty’s, one of London’s most beautiful department stores. I was enchanted by the gorgeous silk scarves and exquisitely cut blouses. There was a delicate rose-patterned blouse in blush pink that simply screamed "me"! The silk fabric flowed gracefully around me as I twirled in front of the mirror, the perfect foil to the extravagant tutu.

Dining & Theatrical Delight

As the day waned, I indulged in a delightful tea time treat at the enchanting The Ritz London. There’s something so wonderfully regal and glamorous about the tea ceremony at The Ritz, with its plush décor and impeccable service.

Later, I found myself at the iconic Royal Opera House for the spectacular La Bayadere performance. This iconic ballet, with its graceful choreography and stunning set design, made me swoon with its beauty. The energy of the dancers was palpable, their movements a perfect symphony of emotion. Watching the ballerinas effortlessly pirouette and leap left me longing for my own dance floor! I came away inspired, fuelled by a renewed passion for my own artistic journey.

Pink Tutu Blog: Spreading the Joy

As the day came to a close, I felt utterly charmed by London’s vibrant energy and overflowing creativity. It truly is a city that caters to every whim, every passion, every shade of pink. And of course, my adventures didn't end there – I managed to squeeze in a fabulous, energetic ballet class, meeting other enthusiastic dancers, before retreating to my cosy little London flat, which was a tiny, adorable, perfectly pink studio.

This week, my London adventure brought a new perspective to my passion, leaving me with memories and a little bit more of my tutu dream woven into the very fabric of my life. I leave you now, my lovelies, to live your own pink tutu dream! Keep checking back here, because, next week, we’re off to the charming Cotswolds!

Until then, may your days be filled with twirls, elegance, and, of course, plenty of pink!

Warmly,

Emma
