Pink Tutu Blog London - #1040
Friday 2016-08-05 - A Pink Tutu Whirl Through London Town!
Hello, my darling tutus! Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip to the big smoke, London! The train journey from my little Derbyshire home was pure bliss - a comfy carriage, a good book, and the anticipation of a weekend of London magic was enough to make any tutu twirl with joy.
This Friday I was feeling particularly pink-tastic! I’d just scored a fab vintage pink tulle skirt at a local charity shop, so my outfit was an absolute dream - a blush pink tee, the dreamy skirt, my go-to pink tutu (a ballerina can never have too many!), and my favourite cherry-red heels. This colour combination never fails to lift my spirits, especially when paired with the hustle and bustle of London.
First Stop: Covent Garden Market!
Let’s be honest, it wouldn't be a proper London adventure without a visit to the iconic Covent Garden Market. I have a confession to make - I am totally obsessed with this place. The vibrant atmosphere, the delicious smells of street food, the incredible array of artisan goods, and the incredible people-watching! I mean, come on, where else can you spot a busker doing a break-dance routine right next to a flower vendor?
I lost myself in the endless stalls and shops, snapping photos and trying out everything I could get my hands on. I’m already planning on incorporating the gorgeous knitted crochet shawl I found into my tutu-infused wardrobe!
Ballet Break: Royal Opera House
You know me - I couldn't resist popping into the iconic Royal Opera House! The architecture is stunning, the atmosphere is electrifying, and just stepping inside transports you to another world.
The schedule for this evening included the fabulous Sleeping Beauty! Can you imagine the perfect way to end a day in London? Well, it was almost too good. Of course, it was ballet. I took my notepad for ideas to weave into future costumes. And who can resist the dazzling colours, the enchanting music, and the pure magic of seeing so much talent unfold?
Tutu Treats: Afternoon Tea in Mayfair
After my ballet break, it was time for a little pink indulgence. Mayfair has always been synonymous with afternoon tea, but I had my sights on a particular gem - the most magical pink tea set ever! Think vintage china, pastel-toned sandwiches, dainty cakes and pastries, and endless cups of steaming tea. I even managed to snap a selfie in my pink tutu, surrounded by the dreamy surroundings. (Look out for that one on my Instagram! It's truly delightful.)
Sunset Stroll Through Hyde Park
As the afternoon slipped into a gorgeous London evening, I took a stroll through the sprawling Hyde Park. It's one of my favourite places in the city - a calming green oasis in the heart of the concrete jungle. I just adore the combination of rolling hills, manicured gardens, and glistening Serpentine lake - the perfect spot for people-watching and daydreaming.
I did some ballet stretches by the fountain - I always need to warm down after a busy day! I can't say I wasn't a little self conscious in my pink tutu, but the people walking past seemed genuinely thrilled and were giving me thumbs up and smiles.
Final Thoughts
And there you have it! Another fabulous pink tutu day in London! This city always manages to amaze and inspire me - it's a haven for those who appreciate the arts, the finer things in life, and most importantly, a healthy dose of pink!
As always, I encourage you all to find your own inner pink and spread your tutus far and wide! Remember, the world needs more twirls and joy.
Until next time, keep dancing!
Emma
P.S. Did you know that on 5th August 2016…
- The US women's gymnastics team won gold in the team final at the Olympics in Rio.
- Sir Michael Caine, the famous British actor, celebrated his 82nd birthday.
- And of course, London was a glorious city for my visit, as it always is!
