#PinkTutuBlogLondon: A Pinktastic London Day!
Post #1051: Friday, 21st October, 2016
Hello darlings! Welcome back to another edition of #PinkTutuBlogLondon, straight from the heart of this glorious city! Itās been a while since Iāve had a chance to truly explore London in a proper pink tutu-filled fashion. You know me, always juggling between rehearsals and performances, keeping those pirouettes pristine and fundraising for my next ballet escapade.
But today, Iām all about living the dream. Thatās right, my little pink tutu and I hopped on the train bright and early from my home in Derbyshire, ready for a day of London adventure. Because who says ballet and London donāt go hand in hand? (Everyone says it? Oh well, I donāt listen!)
Now, letās talk fashion. Iām wearing my new raspberry-pink tulle tutu (oh my, the fluffiness!) paired with a crisp white blouse and my signature pearl necklace. A splash of pink on my lips, a swirl of pink glitter on my eyelids ā the outfit was basically shouting āLondon, Iām here!ā from a mile away.
And London definitely responded.
The London Eye and a Pinky TreatWe kicked off our day at the London Eye, that iconic wheel overlooking the city. I confess, a little flutter of nervousness fluttered in my tummy as I climbed aboard the pod. Not of the āfalling-to-my-deathā kind, but of the "pink tutu standing out from the restā variety! Thankfully, a group of schoolchildren were also in the pod and their faces lit up with joy. I may have gotten a high-five from a little boy whoād seen a Pink Tutu Blog post before. Talk about the power of pink!
And then, it happened. Iāve waited for this moment for ages. The most pinktastic view of London spread out before me ā a sea of rooftops bathed in warm, golden sunshine. It was utterly breathtaking! Of course, I did my fair share of twirling and poses, for Instagram purposes, obviously.
Afterwards, we walked past Big Ben (it's sadly under scaffolding, so I took a snap with my back to it, pretending it wasnāt there!), stopping for a bite at a charming little cafĆ© with dainty pink floral decor. I was completely mesmerized by the pastries; tiny, pink frosted pastries that were like miniature ballerina tutus. My kind of indulgence!
Fashion, Feathers and Fairy TalesWho doesn't love a bit of London retail therapy? Next, I sashayed into Liberty, a veritable feast for the senses with its wood-panelled shopfronts and gorgeous textiles. I picked up a beautiful feather boa in a blush-pink shade (naturally!), it will look perfect for my next ballet performance. They say āfeathers add dramaā and who am I to disagree?
The rest of the afternoon was devoted to exploring the heart of theatreland, which is obviously my kind of stomping ground. First, I ventured into the Royal Opera House, where the grandeur of it all simply left me speechless. From the sweeping staircases to the chandeliers sparkling with untold stories, every inch of this building screams āballetā! The mere sight of those velvet seats, I swear, I could almost hear the whispers of famous ballerinas from centuries past.
Of course, my day wouldnāt be complete without a visit to The Globe. That place exudes pure Shakespearean magic! The costumes were vibrant, the actors incredibly talented. I almost forgot I wasn't watching ballet. Almost.
Back to My Ballet RootsThe evening found me back at the Royal Ballet School, tucking into a quick sandwich before joining the senior students in a warm-up session. I canāt tell you how much it means to be back in that familiar studio space. You know, the place where the magic happens? The energy here is palpable! And it makes me truly believe, every single time, that anyone can dream, believe, and achieve with passion and perseverance. (I might have said that out loud, much to the giggles of the younger dancers, but hey, a tutu girl can dream!)
Itās a funny thing, being back in a ballet school, surrounded by young, hopeful ballerinas, with my own pink tutu sparkling in the lights. I remember those days, fuelled by the magic of ballet, fuelled by the colour pink!
Pink Tutus, and The London CallingWalking back to my hotel, London was twinkling like a thousand pink stars under the darkening sky. It's truly enchanting. This city inspires me. It fuels my dream. It pushes me to be my best self.
So, you see? Ballet isnāt just about tutus, performances and fancy footwork. It's about a spirit. Itās about daring to dream. And it's about finding your own way to spread the magic, one pink tutu at a time!
Until next week darlings, stay sparkly, stay fabulous, and donāt be afraid to let your inner pink tutu shine!
