#PinkTutuBlogLondon: Friday 2017-08-25 - A London Daydream in Pink 🩰✨
Hello darlings! Welcome back to another edition of #PinkTutuBlogLondon! It's Friday, the 25th of August, and you know what that means: a fresh batch of London adventures to share with you all! I'm feeling absolutely thrilled, as this week's adventure took me straight to the heart of this fabulous city – London town, baby!
I am on a mission, you see, to share my love for the colour pink, the joy of a perfectly twirling tutu, and the magic of ballet with every single one of you. And where better to do this than in London, a city buzzing with creativity, culture, and more pink than you could possibly imagine!
This week's trip is particularly exciting as I funded it through my ballet performances, a real dream come true! You see, I'm a firm believer in living your life to the fullest and finding joy in every opportunity. Every pirouette, every performance, every ripple of applause – it all contributes to a life full of joy, and this trip is a perfect example of that.
So, with my trusty travel bag filled with tulle and my favourite pair of pink ballet shoes, I hopped aboard a train from Derbyshire, leaving the rolling green hills of the countryside behind. Oh, the romance of a train journey! There's nothing quite like watching the landscape blur by as you travel towards the bustling city. The train, it's almost a character in the journey itself, the rhythmic click-clack, the gentle swaying – it all just sets the mood for a fabulous day!
My London Daydream:
After arriving at Kings Cross station, the first thing I had to do was take a quintessential London selfie - standing beneath the giant, iconic clock tower, just like everyone else. I mean, a trip to London wouldn’t be complete without one, wouldn't it?!
But this time, I decided to add my own little flair to the iconic picture – a whimsical pink tutu. Can you imagine a brighter, more dazzling selfie backdrop than that of a grand London station?! The contrast of my soft pink against the cool grey stone just created a magical picture that will definitely grace my Instagram feed very soon!
With the selfie accomplished, I ventured out to explore. This time, I had my heart set on a day of pure indulgence: a delicious lunch, followed by some window shopping and a touch of glamour at the theatre. And naturally, all in my beloved pink tutu.
Food and Fashion
First stop was a little cafe near the Tower Bridge – a hidden gem of a place with the most amazing pink pastries I have ever seen! I mean, a ballerina can’t possibly resist pastries – it's an absolute must! Plus, everything about the cafe screamed "vintage glam" – crockery with delicate floral patterns and floral wallpaper - oh, the dream!
The pastry I had was a delicate macaroon, but it was all about the flavour – lavender and rose, with a hint of raspberry, oh, darling! I'm a girl who loves delicate flavours, but this macaroon just exploded with delightful combinations. It truly put me in a perfect London daydream mood, and honestly, it made my little ballet-loving heart just swell with delight!
From the cafe, I headed towards Covent Garden, that fabulous maze of alleyways packed with shops and entertainment! This is always one of my favourite areas to browse, to dream, and just feel that true London energy.
The stalls were filled with trinkets and beautiful scarves, and it just felt magical. Plus, who could resist all the pink in Covent Garden? There were shops overflowing with pretty trinkets, and, darling, the colours just exploded with my favourite hue - the softest, most gorgeous shades of pink!
And the fashion! It was such an inspiration to see the unique styles people had put together! I saw everything from classic and sophisticated to bohemian and quirky. My pink tutu just felt at home amongst the diversity and the bold individuality - which, to be honest, is exactly what I’ve been advocating for all along – wear your pink, darlings!
My wallet might not have been happy with the trip, but I can't resist a good window shop and those delicious cashmere sweaters. I even got to try on a new vintage ballet dress at one shop – it was the softest shade of pale pink with delicate lace and ruffles – so divine! It definitely had my name written all over it…
A Ballet Dream in Covent Garden:
By this time, the evening had started to roll in, and my evening excitement started building! It was finally time to experience the magical atmosphere of a London Theatre! It was the final performance of a delightful ballet in the Royal Opera House - and oh, darling, was it fabulous! I was mesmerized by the energy, the emotion, the incredible dancing and beautiful costumes.
Seeing ballet in London was a real dream come true. It's always so exciting to see it performed on a stage with such history and prestige, surrounded by passionate and appreciative audiences! I mean, when your passion is for dance, there is just nothing quite like seeing it performed in a magnificent setting, under a beautiful stage light!
The energy in the theatre was fantastic – just bursting with excitement. It’s funny because you can practically feel it buzzing around you when the curtain rises and the first music notes ring out. I loved being a part of that moment. As a fellow ballerina, I feel like a piece of the energy, even in the audience!
