#PinkTutuBlogLondon Friday 2017-09-15 - A Tutu-tiful Time in London!
Welcome to my #PinkTutuBlogLondon! This week's post is extra special, marking a grand total of 1098 blog posts, each one dedicated to my love for pink tutus, all things ballet, and of course, the thrill of travelling by train!
From Derbyshire to the Big Smoke: I'm back in London again! After a thrilling performance at the Buxton Opera House last weekend, it was straight onto the train, a pink polka dot suitcase in tow (naturally) for another exciting weekend adventure in the capital. The train ride is always such a joy – watching the world whiz by from my window, dreaming of all the pink tutus and theatrical adventures I'll encounter!
Friday Fashion Frenzy! Today is all about fashion, exploring the hottest trends and must-have styles! I’m kicking off the day with a trip to Topshop on Oxford Street, where I'm sure I'll find the perfect pink tutu accessory – perhaps a statement necklace to make my dancewear extra-special, or a quirky vintage bag. Shopping with a purpose – my mission is to discover how to create new ways to rock my tutus in a contemporary London context. Can I work a tutu in a café or on the tube? I think I just might!
Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House: Later, I’m treating myself to an evening at the Royal Opera House. I just cannot resist a bit of high-class ballet! The Royal Ballet has some absolutely incredible talent on stage, and I am in absolute awe of their grace and skill. The ballet chosen for tonight is Tchaikovsky’s timeless ‘Swan Lake’. There’s something quite magical about a traditional ballet, with its exquisite costumes and elegant movement – truly a feast for the senses!
Dinner, Cocktails and Dreams: For dinner, I’m heading to a little gem of a restaurant tucked away near Covent Garden, known for their mouth-watering vegetarian dishes. I can never resist a good salad and a tasty vegetable curry! Afterwards, it’s a trip to the cocktail bar to indulge in a little bit of that London nightlife, with a Pink Lady, of course. The atmosphere is just so glamorous and exciting, I can almost feel my next pink tutu creation brewing!
More Than Just a Tutu: I know some of you might be wondering, “Emma, why the tutus?” For me, they are more than just a piece of clothing. Tutus symbolise everything I love: creativity, confidence, freedom of movement, a little bit of whimsy and lots and lots of pink!
I believe everyone has a tutu within them – waiting to burst forth. Maybe it’s the courage to pursue a passion, the drive to make a difference, or the simple joy of expressing yourself!
Saturday of Culture and Delights: I’m starting my Saturday with a dose of history and art. The National Gallery is my first stop, where I always lose myself in the stunning masterpieces. The detail and the skill of the artists is so captivating.
Then, a bit of theatre, with tickets to a play that promises a night of laughter and drama. London’s theatre scene is just bursting with talent, from world-renowned productions to smaller, more intimate performances. It’s such a privilege to be part of it, experiencing stories unfold in the most magical of settings!
Afternoon Tea with a View: The perfect end to my Saturday – Afternoon tea at the Dorchester hotel. Nothing quite says "treat yourself" like a scone with clotted cream and a pot of Earl Grey, especially when enjoyed in a gorgeous, elegant setting with a stunning view across the city! It's the perfect way to reenergise before Sunday’s adventures.
A Sunday of Discovery and Ballet: It’s a bit of a surprise, but my plans today involve an exploration of the Notting Hill area. I hear it's quite vibrant and charming. Maybe a tutu will even find a place in the colourful streets! This Sunday’s treat for my dancing heart, is a performance by English National Ballet. They are famous for their dynamic productions and incredible dance pieces.
Reflecting on My Journey: As my London adventure winds down, I find myself reflecting on how lucky I am to experience this incredible city with a tutu by my side! London’s energy is electric, and its heart beats with a unique pulse. I am inspired by its diverse culture, its constant creative evolution, and the spirit of positivity that infuses every corner.
My final thought: It doesn’t matter if you’re a dancer, a dreamer or just someone who wants to embrace life with a little bit of pink tutu flair. Never underestimate the power of your own inner Tutu girl – let your spirit shine through!
