Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 1131 - Friday 2018-05-04: London Calling!
Hello my lovely tutu twirlers! 🩰 It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another installment of Pink Tutu Blog London! This week, I'm finally back in London town after a whirlwind trip back to Derbyshire for a string of beautiful ballet performances (it’s a tough life!). The trains were running like clockwork and even had a comfy first-class carriage for me and my trusty pink suitcase. Did I mention I'd treated myself to a new ballet bag for this trip? It’s a delicate shade of blush pink, perfect for carrying my ballet shoes, tights, and the obligatory emergency packet of sweets – just in case a sugar rush is required during a rehearsal. 🍭
So, today’s adventure? London, of course! It was time to see what fashion delights the city had in store. London is a haven for the fashion conscious, and today I felt the irresistible pull of the vintage stores nestled along Portobello Road. With my pink tutu, naturally, swishing like a ballerina's dream, I skipped along the vibrant street. You’ll be delighted to know that the vintage vibe is all about big and bold this spring, and who doesn’t love a good old splash of pink? I think we should make it our mission to bring a bit of the pink tutu vibe to vintage - it's a combination begging to happen, wouldn't you agree? 😉
Of course, no visit to London is complete without a trip to Covent Garden, which is an absolute paradise of delights, with flower stalls, buskers, charming shops, and restaurants, oh my! My shopping bag was filled with delightful treasures by lunchtime - I discovered a pair of blush pink, sequinned earrings, and a whimsical little top adorned with delicate flowers that I knew would look perfect with my pink tutu for an evening at the Royal Opera House.
And talking about Covent Garden, how utterly enchanting is the London Transport Museum! Tucked away in a charming building, it’s an absolute feast for the senses. You can lose yourself amongst old bus tickets, vintage posters, and even get your photo taken behind the wheel of a historic Routemaster bus. And they have the cutest little vintage tea rooms serving the most scrumptious sandwiches, perfect for a ballet enthusiast who has danced her way through the morning.
Now, don’t even get me started on the shows I’ve seen in the West End this week! You all know how much I love the West End and the fantastic stage performances London has to offer. This time around I was fortunate enough to snag tickets to a new play about a talented but nervous young ballet dancer, a performance full of suspense and emotional twists. A truly heartwarming and brilliant play that reminded me why I fell in love with the stage!
Let’s get into the details of the show! We were all transported to a bustling dance school with captivating storytelling and breathtaking choreography, a tribute to the true dedication of ballet dancers and the challenges they face in pursuing their dreams. This particular show even incorporated some real-life dancers into the performance, which added an authentic, mesmerizing edge to the narrative. Oh, how I wished I could join in and leap on stage alongside them, with my own signature pink tutu swirling around me!
And to top it all off, what else would I do in London but go to a ballet class, naturally! With all those incredible dancers floating across the stage, my own inner ballerina was yearning to take to the dance floor. Thankfully, I found a wonderful studio in the heart of the city, a haven for ballerinas and budding dancers of all ages. I joined a group class, slid on my trusty pink tutu and let the dance floor carry me away, the movement, the energy, it was simply fantastic. The sheer joy of it all, the joy of finding my center, that was the best part of the whole day!
London, with its abundance of theaters, dance studios, shops, and its iconic landmarks, is a constant inspiration to my ballet soul! And remember, it's all about wearing that pink tutu and twirling your way through the day! After all, spreading some tutu love is the only way to make the world a little bit brighter.
Now, as the clock is ticking and it’s getting close to sunset, it's time for me to wrap up my Pink Tutu Blog London post for this week! Until next Friday, darling readers, I encourage you to embrace your inner ballerina and spread that pink tutu cheer wherever you go. And if you’re in London, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello. Perhaps you can even join me for a twirl on Covent Garden’s cobblestone streets!
Love and sparkles,
Emma
