Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1134 – Friday 2018-05-25 – A Pink Tutu Adventure in the Big Smoke!

Hello darlings! Emma here, and it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! This week, I traded in my Derbyshire countryside for the vibrant, bustling streets of London.

The train journey down was pure bliss. I donned my new lavender tutu (a must-have for any train ride, don't you think?) and let the rhythm of the wheels inspire me. There’s something so magical about travelling by train. The views rushing by, the gentle clickety-clack of the tracks…it’s pure escapism, perfect for getting those creative juices flowing.

London: A City of Ballet and Glamour

Of course, London is the ultimate stage for any Pink Tutu adventurer! This city truly buzzes with excitement. I felt an instant lift upon arriving at Paddington Station - I love how London never sleeps, even at the crack of dawn!

Speaking of stage and excitement, I was already so giddy with anticipation about my plans for the day! First on the agenda: a show-stopping visit to the Royal Opera House for their latest production of The Nutcracker. You see, my life revolves around ballet – I’m an aspiring ballerina after all.

After weeks of intense training (and of course, many, many hours of shopping for the perfect new pink tutus!), this was the highlight of my week. And let me tell you, the performance did not disappoint! The intricate choreography, the breathtaking costumes (particularly the sugar plum fairy's beautiful pink tutu!), and the soaring music – it all came together in a spectacular spectacle. I could feel the magic in the air, and by the end, I had tears streaming down my face. This was pure ballet perfection.

Ballet Inspired Fashion

After the show, I found myself drawn to the world of high fashion, naturally inspired by the elegance I'd just witnessed. And where better to find the ultimate ballerina-inspired designs than the flagship Victoria’s Secret store in Oxford Street! I can't resist those lacy trims, delicate silks and satin lingerie. And those little angel wings!

My Pink Tutu Boutique back in Derbyshire might be small, but it's my dream to make it the ultimate destination for tutu enthusiasts, offering the most gorgeous ballet-inspired clothes and accessories. Who needs those dreary, boring dresses anyway, when you can have the magical shimmer of a tulle skirt? I'm here to tell you – everyone needs a tutu in their life!

Afternoon Tea for the Tutus

And, of course, no trip to London is complete without a spot of afternoon tea. I decided to indulge in this quintessentially English tradition at a gorgeous hotel in Knightsbridge. There was something very chic about taking afternoon tea amongst all those grand buildings and exquisite fashion houses. The hotel had a charming little tea room, filled with chintz and lace, perfect for a bit of girly chat and delicious treats. It was an ideal pit stop before exploring more of London’s wonderful streets.

Street Art Inspiration

London's street art scene never fails to impress me. From the vibrant colours of Shoreditch to the powerful murals of Brick Lane, the creativity of London's artists spills onto every corner. I took inspiration from some of the patterns and bold shapes for my latest Pink Tutu dance routine! This will be the most vibrant, playful, and exciting choreography I've ever performed! I have some fabulous tutu designs in mind to match. It’s a secret, though… but let’s just say pink is definitely a key colour, of course.

Ballet-Themed Dinner

After a full day exploring, it was time to nourish my soul with a ballet-themed dinner. I love discovering little gems that cater to my specific tastes, and tonight, it was a little bistro tucked away in a quiet back street, known for its French cuisine. I enjoyed a beautifully presented and delicately-flavoured Salade Nicoise, which, funnily enough, just happened to remind me of the dainty little flowers worn by some of the dancers in the ballet show I saw! It was a charming little detail, adding to the evening's overall magical feel.

Late Night London:

It wasn’t all tutu-themed, fancy frocks and elegant evenings, though! I do enjoy letting my hair down in the Big Smoke. There’s an energy in this city that just draws me in. Later that night, I found myself amidst the throngs of people at a buzzing theatre show. I'd seen the adverts for it earlier and knew I just had to check it out! It was an entirely different kind of entertainment, featuring acrobats, contortionists and daredevils performing gravity-defying stunts. Talk about dazzling! I was mesmerized by their raw energy and agility. You know, I have to say that the performance did make me think – Perhaps there are other ways to express beauty besides twirling and leaping in a pink tutu! The theatrics and artistic flourishes of the show made me wonder how I could blend elements of this kind of physical theatre into my own ballet routines. This show might be a complete departure from my usual ballet focus, but I always take inspiration from wherever I can! I could just imagine a future performance with acrobatic leaps and impressive tricks woven into my elegant routines… what an innovative ballet fusion that would be!

Ballet Dreams Take Flight

The best thing about London? You never know what’s around the corner. One minute, I could be marveling at the intricate architecture of Buckingham Palace, and the next, I'm strolling through Covent Garden, a lively hub filled with street musicians and street performers, some even decked out in theatrical costumes! (I spotted a particularly dazzling, feather-covered, bright blue character…it was truly inspiring). It’s just wonderful to soak it all in. It feeds my imagination, fuels my dreams and inspires my own ambitions. My passion is ballet, of course, but I love discovering all sorts of creative expression, as this latest London trip has proven!

A Final Pink Tutu Tip

There’s one last thing that makes a Pink Tutu adventure in London truly special – it’s all about finding those little touches of pink. Whether it’s a floral arrangement at a local flower shop or a raspberry macaroon in a cute cafe, London just happens to have a secret love for this gorgeous colour. Look out for it! You'd be surprised where you might find that pink hue… and perhaps be inspired to add some pink into your own outfit too!
