Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1141 - Friday, 2018-07-13 - London Calling!

Hello, darling dears! It’s Emma here, back with another London adventure, and oh my, this one was a real twirl-tastic treat! The pink tutu packed its suitcase, and this time, it wasn’t just for the ballet, darling. Oh no, this time it was going to conquer London!

Now, you lovely lot know I adore exploring, especially in my tutu, of course, but there’s something truly magical about the hustle and bustle of London town. It's a city that practically pulsates with life and creativity - it's like a ballet show without the curtain!

My trip started with a quintessential British adventure: a train journey. It might not be the fastest way to travel, but it’s such a quintessential part of the experience. You get to take in the countryside scenery (even though Derbyshire is practically built of trains!), listen to your favourite playlist, and most importantly, let those pink tutu dreams swirl free!

London greeted me with open arms (and maybe a slight drizzle, but hey, what’s a bit of English weather, right?) It was a classic summer’s day – sunshine battling clouds, that refreshing scent of rain, and enough energy to power a hundred tutus.

The day was a whirlwind of discovery, starting with a trip to the heart of the West End, my true home away from home, to see "Hamilton." You guys know I'm a hopeless romantic, but I can't resist a good story about ambition, revolution, and... hip-hop! Even though it wasn't a traditional ballet, it certainly felt like a ballet! Those dancers were absolutely phenomenal, and I even caught myself snapping my fingers along to the beat - maybe the pink tutu was influencing me a little, who knows!

After the show, it was time for some proper London pampering. And you know I had to choose a boutique with a touch of pink, didn't I? Oh, it was heavenly, filled with those divine velvet coats and shoes I’d only ever dreamt about! They did a brilliant pink, too, which really brightened my day - no surprise there! The only issue was deciding what to buy, but thankfully the shopkeeper helped me with my tutu-ting selection! Of course, I had to find a matching hat and gloves to complete the look - never underestimate the power of a complete ensemble.

No trip to London is complete without a spot of shopping. And not just any shopping - the kind where the cobblestones gleam with every fabulous window display! I spent a lovely afternoon hopping in and out of independent boutiques in Notting Hill, discovering hidden gems and whispering "ooh la la" in a most British fashion! My motto is "shop, twirl, repeat," so that's exactly what I did - it was absolutely divine!

Later, it was time for a traditional English meal at one of London's quaintest restaurants – The Ginger Pig in the heart of Notting Hill. They say "Londoners love a good pork roast" and I’m absolutely convinced that the pork belly was the star of the show. It’s safe to say, it definitely lived up to its hype, all juicy, delicious, and beautifully roasted - it’s safe to say I may have gone for seconds... and thirds... for old time's sake, of course!

Feeling pleasantly plumped-up and utterly contented, I knew there was only one thing to do – take a stroll along the River Thames! You know I love the majesty of London Bridge - that architecture just begs for a good spin - maybe a pirouette under the bridge, just to see how high I could twirl, you know, just for fun!

After my riverside reverie, it was time for one last adventure before heading back to Derbyshire. I couldn't resist exploring the quirky beauty of Covent Garden! A bustling market with colourful flowers, eccentric street performers, and that wonderful blend of tradition and the avant-garde – pure magic! It was almost like a fairytale – like all those London stories from old - maybe one of them involved a pink tutu too, I have to do some research later.

My day ended just as it began: on a train, with the rhythmic clicking of wheels providing the soundtrack for my thoughts and dreams. I am already dreaming of my next trip, imagining myself on a rooftop dancefloor in Piccadilly Circus, or maybe taking ballet class in one of those magical studios in the West End. It seems the pink tutu magic has only just begun in London!

That's all for now, darlings!

Until next week, when I'll be back with more adventures from my home city – keep your eyes peeled for another Pink Tutu blog post. Don't forget, there are links below, to the beautiful boutiques, shows and restaurants I mentioned, to start planning your own trip to London, don't forget your own pink tutu! Happy twirling, Emma!
