Pink Tutu Blog London #1152 - Friday 2018-09-28: A London Fairy Tale in Pink!

Hello my darling Tutu Twirlers! 👋💖 It's Emma, your resident pink-tutu-clad travel enthusiast, and guess what? This Friday, I'm finally back in London! ✨ After another whirlwind tour of ballet performances around Derbyshire, I boarded the train for a day of London loveliness. I adore the hustle and bustle of the city, and this week's adventures were filled with shopping, dazzling dance shows, and of course, my signature touch - pink! 💖

The train journey was a delight, especially after that rather intense but rewarding dance season. I indulged in a spot of reading my latest fashion magazine – “Vogue,” naturally – and marveled at the intricate patterns in my crocheted pink cardigan. 🧶 The journey was all about letting go of stress and slipping into a calming state of anticipation, fuelled by the anticipation of reaching my favourite city.

I’d be lying if I said that the city wasn’t exciting – every corner seems to hold a new adventure! But it's Friday, and Fridays in London are magic! 💫 The energy is infectious, the lights sparkle even brighter, and the scent of freshly baked pastries seems to fill the air, tempting you into quaint little cafes tucked away on charming cobblestone streets.

As soon as I arrived, I took a delightful wander through Hyde Park, letting the crisp Autumn air invigorate my senses. 🍂 The colours of the changing leaves were truly spectacular – shades of scarlet, amber, and ochre, like a paintbox that spilled onto the branches of the ancient trees. I must admit, even the pigeons in London seem a tad more fashionable. They sashayed between the benches, all perfectly poised with a bit of attitude and a flair for the dramatic, perhaps trying to catch the attention of their fellow birds! 🕊️

I couldn’t resist popping into Harrods – it's just impossible to visit London and not have a little peak at this legendary department store! 🛍️ I spent a blissful hour or two browsing, particularly focusing on their incredible shoe selection! I’m quite partial to a pair of pointy-toed ballet pumps myself, and their pink collection this season was to die for. Maybe I’ll pick myself up a new pair for my upcoming performances!

My lunch was truly a delight! 🍽️ I discovered this charming café tucked away near Buckingham Palace. It’s called "The Teacup and Tutu" - what a stroke of serendipity! (My inner child squealed with delight, let me tell you!) 😊 They have the most adorable selection of cakes and teas, but it’s their decadent pink afternoon tea that caught my eye. I don’t know what’s more magical - the dainty pink scones and finger sandwiches or the sight of my reflection in my teacup, framed by the delicate blush pink rose petals scattered around my teacup.

After a rejuvenating lunch, I embarked on a journey through the world of London theatre! 💖 🎭 I started with a matinee performance of "The Nutcracker," at the Royal Opera House, a production known for its timeless elegance and grace. Even from my seat, I felt the excitement buzzing through the air.

This year’s performance was more enchanting than ever before! I'm a total ballet fanatic, and you all know I’ve seen quite a few "Nutcracker" performances, but the sheer beauty and talent on display on that stage left me completely speechless!

The artistry of the dancers truly blew me away, from the ethereal grace of the Sugar Plum Fairy to the fierce athleticism of the lead ballerina. There was a magic in the air that was infectious, a sense of community shared between the audience, the dancers, and the orchestra. ✨

Speaking of the orchestra, I couldn't resist having a quick peek backstage before the end of the performance. The sheer talent of everyone behind the scenes, from the hair and make-up artists to the costume designers and lighting technicians, never ceases to amaze me. It truly is an incredible spectacle that takes the hard work and dedication of many! ✨

Next up, I embarked on a quest to find the perfect dress for tonight’s ballet street performance. I absolutely adore ballet street, that intoxicating blend of dance and theatre! ✨ You’d be surprised at how much creativity is going on just outside those iconic London theatres – the energy and enthusiasm are just electric! 🤩

After hours of searching (it’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it!) I finally found the ideal dress: a shimmering blush pink cocktail dress, perfectly suited for a night out under the London sky. I topped it off with a vintage lace jacket (it's surprisingly warm for a late September night!), and the final touch was my signature accessory: a delicate pink feather boa – naturally! 😉

Now, this might come as a surprise to some, but I discovered a hidden gem just outside the famous London Coliseum, an exquisite jewellery shop! I must admit, a little indulgence never hurts. And so, I ended up with a sparkling pink sapphire ring, the perfect reminder of my day exploring the magic of London. 💍

Before heading to tonight’s show, I decided to indulge in my other favourite London pastime - a bit of browsing in Covent Garden Market. I simply adore those stalls! It’s a treasure trove of colours and textures. And, what better place to find a final flourish for my evening ensemble – a handcrafted pink silk scarf? 🥰

My Friday concluded with an evening performance of "Cinderella," a vibrant and joyous celebration of classic ballet infused with modern flair. ✨ The dance floor became a twinkling dreamland with intricate costumes and magical lighting. My fellow ballet street performers showcased their passion, and the streets erupted in applause – such a contagious feeling! 🤩

As the night drifted towards midnight, my London adventure ended with a final twirl on the street, a memory tucked away for next week’s post.

So, until next Friday my Tutu Twirlers! ✨

Stay sparkling! 💖
