Pink Tutu Blog London - #1153 - Friday 2018-10-05: London Calling!

Hello lovelies!

Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London! This weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing the vibrant city for a second time. This city is a dancer's paradise – it's absolutely bursting with exciting ballet shows, stylish boutiques, and an endless supply of cafes with delectable afternoon teas! It was so refreshing to spend a weekend surrounded by my favourite things!

This week, I hopped on a train from Derbyshire – always a great start to any adventure, especially in a beautiful tutu of course. My heart beat faster with each station we passed, anticipating London's whimsical charm. I had such a fabulous time exploring everything this wonderful city had to offer.

London Fashion, Tea & Treats

On Friday morning, I set off with a purpose, heading straight to Selfridges on Oxford Street – it was time to indulge in my favourite pastime! Shopping for all the latest and trendiest styles, all whilst sporting a dazzling pink tutu, of course. I even stumbled across the cutest pink feathered bag, just the thing for a ballerina on the go.

Of course, no day in London is complete without a delicious afternoon tea! I treated myself to an extravagant spread at the stunning Ritz Hotel. I sipped champagne while enjoying tiny sandwiches, decadent pastries and my favourite, raspberry macaroons. What better way to spend a rainy afternoon!

Theatre Land Dreams

As evening descended, I stepped into the beautiful grandeur of the Royal Opera House – a breathtaking venue fit for any ballerina. I saw "The Nutcracker," a Christmas classic, and my goodness, was it magical! I could feel the magic and wonder just as much as if it were the first time seeing it.

I’m definitely a big fan of those traditional ballet stories! But I also enjoy experiencing some more contemporary and avant-garde performances. If you’re looking for something a little different, check out "Flight Pattern" at the Barbican Theatre, where modern ballet merges with video projections. I saw it a few months ago, and it truly blew me away with its clever storytelling and technological marvels!

Finding my Inner Ballerina in Covent Garden

On Saturday, it was time for Covent Garden! A dazzling whirlwind of street performances and the most colourful flowers imaginable, and of course the Royal Opera House. I always love observing talented dancers showing off their skills in the open-air space, and it's inspiring to see their love for the art.

The day was a celebration of dance, and of course, my trusty pink tutu came out again to play. I felt like a beautiful ballerina, dancing and twirling through the crowds. You should feel it for yourselves! There’s really no other way to experience Covent Garden!

The Enduring Magic of a Train Ride

Now, after all those fabulous activities, you know a girl's gotta recharge! I found a quaint little cafe nearby, tucked away in a cozy alley. I grabbed a piping hot latte and a slice of delicious carrot cake. All while basking in the sunshine that had thankfully come out. London’s parks and gardens are beautiful for a little escape!

I ended my trip on a relaxed train ride back home to Derbyshire. I truly enjoyed the peace and tranquility, as I pondered all my wonderful experiences in London. I already look forward to my next trip. It's one of my favorite places in the world, and I feel truly happy every time I visit!
