Pink Tutu Blog London #1161: A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back with another London adventure. This week, I packed my bags (and, of course, a spare tutu – just in case!), boarded a train from sunny Derbyshire, and arrived in the bustling metropolis that is London! Oh, how I love the energy, the history, and, dare I say, the shopping!

Now, Friday in London is like a ballerina's grand jeté: exhilarating, elegant, and full of promise! This week, I planned my day to be a whirlwind of theatre, shopping, and of course, a good dose of pink! Let's get straight to the action…

Train Time!

For me, the journey is as much a part of the adventure as the destination. My train trip from Derbyshire to London is always an enjoyable experience. It allows me to unwind, put on my favourite playlist, and dream up all the amazing things I'm going to do. I always travel first class - a little luxury goes a long way, don't you think? It gives me the perfect opportunity to settle into my plush seat, sip on some tea, and scribble away in my diary, plotting the details of my day.

The train ride is a wonderful opportunity to observe all the interesting characters heading into the city for a weekend of adventures. There are the businessmen, so smartly dressed in their suits, the students huddled together in groups, giggling and sharing stories, and even a few travellers like me, full of excitement for their day ahead!

A Toast to Theatre

Upon arriving in London, the first order of business was to find a delicious afternoon tea. What better way to set the scene for a day of artistic delights than with some quintessentially British treats? The clinking of china cups, the scent of Earl Grey tea, and the delicate crunch of scones - there's nothing more delightful. I went with the option of cucumber sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, and of course, the star of the show, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Divine!

Speaking of delights, after indulging in my delicious tea, I made my way to the West End Theatre to catch a matinee show. A bit of culture never hurt anyone! This time, it was "Hamilton", the musical that's been sweeping the world off its feet with its rap-infused history lesson! I was captivated by the clever storytelling, the infectious energy, and, dare I say, the exquisite costumes. You'd think they'd been designed by a tutu-loving ballerina like myself, but no, they just knew how to make an impact with the bold and colourful designs! I found myself tapping my feet along to the music, mesmerized by the performance.

The Pinkest Shops in London

After a much-needed dose of cultural brilliance, it was time for some serious retail therapy! You know how I love pink, so naturally, my first stop had to be at Liberty. This beautiful department store is a true treasure trove of fashion finds! And don't even get me started on the colours! They have pink galore! The most gorgeous pinks you've ever seen!

I spent hours browsing through racks upon racks of exquisite clothing, carefully selected from some of the most talented designers. Each item seemed like a masterpiece! However, let me tell you, this isn't the type of shop for impulse purchases. The price tags might give you a little flutter in your chest! I did, however, manage to nab a lovely pale pink blouse, so perfect for a date night, and an embroidered pink clutch - just the thing for my next night out. I just had to grab them!

Next stop was the iconic Covent Garden! From street performers to markets to stunning buildings, Covent Garden is an exciting hub. I just loved exploring the narrow streets, taking in all the sights and sounds. This time, I treated myself to a beautiful, hand-painted pink hat! It just matched my personality!

And let's not forget Oxford Street, a mecca for everything fashionable! You could easily spend an entire day just wandering around its bustling shops and hidden gems. With such a wide variety, you're sure to find something that catches your eye. I picked up a pink handbag and a pair of shoes. What could be more fitting?

Of course, my quest for pink fashion treasures wouldn't be complete without a trip to one of my favourite vintage shops in London, where I unearthed a stunning pink 1950s tutu! This was more of an heirloom piece than just a regular find! With a delicate frill of tulle, this tutu brought a touch of vintage elegance and pure joy to my heart! It was the perfect touch of whimsy for my wardrobe, wouldn't you say?

Ballet Dreams in the City

My day was a vibrant blur of pink tutus and beautiful sights, and what better way to cap off the night than with a visit to a local ballet studio? Being a ballet dancer, of course, there was a strong urge to get into a pair of pointe shoes and gracefully dance the night away. The studio I found in Bloomsbury offered an advanced level class. What a chance to experience something a little bit challenging! I decided to make the most of my London adventure and push my boundaries. The barre work felt oh so good. It felt like I was home in Derbyshire.

And that was my day, darling! It was jam-packed with all my favourite things - shopping, dancing, and a touch of culture! London always manages to leave me feeling inspired and utterly in love with the world. Until next week, my dears, stay stylish, embrace your inner ballerina, and remember, a pink tutu makes everything more magical! I can’t wait for next week’s adventures in this bustling metropolis!

Love and glitter,
