Pink Tutu Blog London: #1162 - Friday 2018-12-07 - Whirlwind Friday in the Capital
Hello darlings! Welcome back to the Pink Tutu Blog London. I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to share all the fun and fabulousness of my latest London adventure! Today’s trip to London, as you know, started with the rhythmic clatter of a train carriage. Leaving the green rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling capital, I already felt a surge of anticipation. I always get a little giddy hopping on board the train, that rhythmic chugging somehow syncs up with my own inner excitement for the city!
The journey was blissfully short (thank goodness for the London-Derby train line!), allowing me time to sketch out the day's plan in my notebook - I just love the elegant scrawl of a pen on paper. Oh, and did I mention I was rocking a dazzling new pink tutu? This one's got sparkly, silver embellishments around the bottom – perfect for reflecting all those gorgeous city lights later on. I feel most myself in my tutu, you know? It's like wearing a bit of magic wherever I go!
Stepping onto the platform at King's Cross station, that classic, beautiful architecture really sets the mood, doesn't it? It’s always a good start to my London journey. The smell of hot dogs from the vendors and the echoing sounds of the underground made my senses truly come alive!
Today's adventure was packed with fabulous things! And trust me, there were plenty of opportunities to bust out my most twirling-worthy pink tutu moves!
A Royal Visit
First on the agenda was a little culture, which always feels a bit regal for me. Who better to start my day with than Queen Victoria herself?! Today, I had the pleasure of experiencing a matinee performance of "Victoria and Abdul," a beautiful and surprisingly moving play showcasing the unexpected and charming relationship between the Queen and her Indian servant, Abdul Karim.
The Globe Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue really embraced me with open arms (or shall I say, an open stage). It was enchanting to witness the story of an empowered woman who dared to be herself. Honestly, the costume designs were just breathtaking, so you can imagine how my inner fashionista was swooning!
My outfit for the play was an ode to Victorian style, with a delicate floral print dress and a soft pink satin ribbon in my hair, tied in a graceful bow at the back, of course!
Afternoon Tea Fit For A Princess
My love of ballet doesn't end with the performance! A classic afternoon tea experience felt like the perfect complement to my theatrical afternoon. So, off I went to The Dorchester Hotel in Mayfair, my heart a little bit aflutter! I just couldn't resist the charm of high tea - sandwiches cut into perfectly delicate triangles, melt-in-your-mouth pastries, and, of course, mountains of scones and cream!
For this charming afternoon rendezvous, my tutu of choice was a delightful pastel pink number adorned with delicate feathers. Honestly, how could you say no to a little fluffy pink elegance? This tutu seemed to blend effortlessly into the exquisite setting. As I sipped on my cuppa (I always go for a good Earl Grey) and enjoyed the intricate china patterns, I felt truly at home in this lovely, luxurious setting.
Sparkling Shopping Spree
After tea, my adventurous heart was screaming for some retail therapy, and frankly, London was just begging to be explored with a little shopping spree! My love for sparkles is well-known, and luckily, London delivers on the glimmer front in droves! I’m absolutely obsessed with anything that catches the light.
Walking down Oxford Street, the atmosphere was infectious. I was drawn to the vibrant displays, and I knew I had to snag a new pair of shoes - you simply can't have too many dancing shoes! (My excuse, not yours, darlings).
A glitzy pink pair, adorned with rhinestones, practically called to me from the window of a boutique! It was destiny! They are just perfect for my upcoming ballet recital - maybe even an impromptu street performance.
The fun didn't stop there, though! I ended my day with a gorgeous pair of vintage pink earrings. The little flowers on them practically made them dance on their own, I swear. You never know when a bit of extra sparkle is going to make your day. I truly believe in the power of a little glitz!
A Glittering Evening In London
A pink tutu wearing ballerina can't end her London adventure without a sprinkle of dazzling lights. As evening settled in, I decided to head to Piccadilly Circus - what better place to soak in the London lights? You truly get the sense of city life thriving beneath all those dazzling lights. The glow of the advertisements created an enchanting landscape, a magical mix of the real and the unreal!
And, you know I simply couldn't resist taking a twirl in my pink tutu on the cobblestone steps of Piccadilly Circus, surrounded by the energy of a thousand people rushing by! Honestly, if I'm honest, it's not every day I get to twirl with a bit of London flair around me!
My Love for London Never Dies
My dear readers, this was another spectacular Friday adventure in the magical city of London! From elegant theatres to enchanting afternoon teas and sparkling shopping sprees, it was truly a whirlwind of delight!
It never ceases to amaze me how the energy and spirit of this city captures my heart time and time again. London always leaves me feeling inspired, refreshed, and just a bit giddy.
