Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #1163 - Friday 14th December 2018 - London Calling!
Hello my darlings!
Emma here, and I'm absolutely buzzing to be back in London. I'm always delighted to be back in the capital - the city that never sleeps, the city that makes my heart flutter with its endless energy and vibrant atmosphere! This week, I traded my quiet Derbyshire village for the bustling streets of London, and, of course, I had my trusty pink tutu packed. I even managed to snag a little train adventure, because who can resist a journey on those grand old carriages?
This trip, I'm combining my love for dance with some serious London fashion exploration. After all, who wouldn't want to find the perfect tutu-complementing outfit in the home of iconic style? Today, though, it's all about soaking up the city's energy, experiencing the magic of London in the run-up to Christmas.
A Day Out with the Ballet Gods: London's Theatres and Delights
My heart practically leapt out of my chest when I found myself walking into the iconic Royal Opera House. Just the thought of being surrounded by all that theatrical history gave me butterflies, and I knew I was in for a real treat. Today was the day to experience the Royal Ballet perform Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake – a show so iconic it practically dances its own waltz on the very steps of this beautiful building!
This ballet always stirs something deep within me. The ethereal elegance of the dancers, the exquisite costuming, the powerful emotions conveyed through the dance – Swan Lake never fails to leave me awestruck.
Of course, the show was spectacular! And when I tell you it was spectacular, imagine those incredible ballerinas, every turn perfectly executed, every jump a masterpiece of grace, their beautiful white costumes glimmering under the stage lights. Oh, my dear readers, my heart nearly exploded!
As for my outfit? You know I couldn't resist the opportunity to dress up for such an elegant occasion. I paired my signature pink tutu (because what’s a ballet-loving blogger to do?) with a luxurious velvet top, a pair of my favourite sparkling flats, and of course, my trademark pink coat. The combination was a vision of feminine elegance – a delicate ballet of colours that perfectly reflected the mood of the evening.
London's Charm: A Wander Through Covent Garden and a Ballet-Themed Delight
After the sheer joy of the Royal Ballet, the Covent Garden market called out to me like a sweet siren. Its intoxicating blend of scents and sights is irresistible, and I simply had to spend a bit of time getting lost amongst the colourful stalls, breathing in the festive air and picking up a few trinkets for myself.
I couldn't resist trying on some quirky and playful ballet-inspired pieces from the independent jewellery stalls. The shops, like colourful butterflies fluttering in the twilight, held a unique collection of fashion delights. I even found a beautiful ballet-themed scarf, its silk design depicting a scene of graceful ballerinas floating through the air. Oh, the joy of a little treat that resonates with your love of dance!
Of course, no visit to Covent Garden is complete without indulging in a little hot chocolate. My steaming mug, complete with lashings of marshmallows and whipped cream, warmed me up perfectly after the chilly evening air. I found a cute little cafe that was bursting with Christmas cheer, with a beautifully decorated window filled with snowmen and festive cheer. They even had a live pianist playing the most delightful tunes - a real Christmas classic, complete with the comforting melody of ‘Winter Wonderland’.
A Feast For The Eyes: Exploring London’s Fashion Scene
Now, it's no secret that London is a haven for fashion lovers. My next stop? Oxford Street, a haven of stylish treats and exciting possibilities!
I began my journey in the hallowed halls of Liberty London, a department store brimming with exquisitely designed clothes and the most tempting array of gifts. I couldn’t help but admire the beautifully curated displays of clothes and accessories, each piece telling its own story. I particularly adored the festive decorations, with twinkly fairy lights casting an ethereal glow over the elegant displays. It was a true visual delight.
Now, while Liberty’s style might be a tad on the pricier side, my budget-conscious heart still enjoyed a good wander through the departments. And I must admit, my eyes found a perfect pairing to wear with my trusty tutu – a gorgeous blush pink dress with delicate embroidery. Just imagining it with my pink tutu and a pair of shimmering high heels sent shivers down my spine in pure delight! Perhaps a Christmas treat for myself?
Then it was off to the legendary Selfridges! I couldn't resist taking a trip to its beauty hall. You know I love discovering new beauty products. But when I walked into the hallway of beauty (my personal term, darling), it felt like stepping into a fairy-tale world of sparkly eye shadows, velvety foundations, and magical lipsticks. It’s truly a shopper’s haven!
My dear readers, this shopping trip left my heart full, my purse a bit lighter (but what’s a little dent for a sartorial discovery?), and my imagination teeming with ideas for future pink tutu pairings!
Homeward Bound: A Final Thought from the Pink Tutu Queen
The night ended with a charming dinner in a cosy little bistro, where the smell of garlic bread wafted out, beckoning me like a warm, comforting hug. As I savored the warmth of a cup of chamomile tea, my mind couldn’t help but be filled with gratitude. The day was filled with wonder – from the artistry of the ballet, to the vibrant streets of Covent Garden, to the glittering wonderland of Oxford Street.
I felt a renewed love for London, a city brimming with magic, fashion, and excitement, and I'm certain I'll be back again soon, ready to dance, shop, and inspire everyone to wear their own pink tutu.
But until then, remember, darlings, be your own kind of wonderful. Embrace your individual style, your inner ballerina, and remember that life, like a perfect pirouette, is all about grace, strength, and finding beauty in every moment.
Keep your eyes on the pink tutu, my dear readers, and I'll catch you next Friday for another London adventure.
With a twinkle and a pirouette, Emma, www.pink-tutu.com
