#PinkTutuBlogLondon: London Calling! - Friday 2019-08-16 (Post #1198)

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, back from my little adventure in the big smoke, ready to spill the tea (or should I say, the Pimms!) on another glorious #PinkTutuBlogLondon escapade. This Friday, my love for all things sparkly and pink led me to the bustling heart of London. And wouldn’t you know it, I managed to squeeze in a little ballet, some fabulous fashion, and oh, just a smidge of delicious treats!

The journey was as exciting as the destination, naturally! From my humble Derbyshire abode, I boarded the train – always the most magical part of any journey for me. The rhythmic clinking of the tracks, the fleeting landscapes, and the quiet hum of fellow travellers create a symphony of adventure. Oh, and I don’t need to mention the joy of twirling around in my tulle masterpiece while nobody’s looking, do I? ;)

A Day In London: Tutu-ing Around the City

Upon arrival, the scent of the London air, a mix of exhaust fumes and rain-washed brick, always brings a smile to my face. I could almost smell the glamour and energy waiting for me around every corner.

First on the agenda was a visit to Covent Garden, the beating heart of London theatre. Oh, to be amongst those iconic, cobbled streets, with the sound of laughter and music in the air. I spent ages browsing the stalls, admiring hand-painted silk scarves and quirky, vintage treasures. You see, I adore a bit of old-world charm and there’s nothing more charming than Covent Garden, its Victorian architecture making me feel like a lady from a different time… a time when ladies wore exquisite tutus, of course.

As fate would have it, there was a spontaneous street performance going on in the square! A talented troupe of dancers were captivating passersby with their graceful movements and upbeat music. You could say, my heart skipped a beat or two! There’s something truly inspiring about seeing art and movement taking place right before your eyes, without any fuss or grandstanding.

And of course, no day in London is complete without a touch of ballet. I was lucky enough to secure tickets for the Royal Opera House's latest performance, "The Sleeping Beauty". Oh, the pure delight of seeing this classic ballet brought to life with such artistry and skill was truly magical! Every single movement, every expression on those delicate faces was simply breathtaking. And of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a picture with my Tutu, making it the absolute perfect Instagram moment!

Speaking of pictures… I had to capture this glamorous, bustling metropolis, and one of my favourite ways is by wandering the streets of South Kensington. The iconic Victoria & Albert Museum was my first stop. And what a beauty she is! That majestic façade always makes me feel like I'm stepping back in time, but inside, you’re transported into a whirlwind of artistic inspiration and world cultures.

From there, it was a short stroll to the famous Harrods department store. A truly iconic landmark. From exquisite perfumes to dazzling designer dresses, the sheer indulgence was intoxicating! You see, I’m a huge fan of everything glamorous and extravagant, and Harrods does it better than almost anyone!

But hey, sometimes you need to unwind after a day of high fashion and glamour, don't you think? I found myself at the most charming tea room, tucked away in a little side street off Hyde Park. Oh, it was the epitome of cosy comfort! They had a vast selection of loose leaf teas and delicate sandwiches with crustless edges – the ultimate sign of true refinement. I sat with a steaming cuppa, reading through the pages of a classic British magazine (naturally, with a bit of ballet news thrown in!) and felt so very peaceful.

As the afternoon sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the city, it was time to head back to the station. London, as always, left me with a mix of excitement and a hint of wistfulness.

A Week In Review: Ballet Performances & Pink Tutus

Remember, dear readers, this blog isn’t just about the glamour of London. I work hard to bring you a snippet of life’s delights and share some inspiration! You can always count on my weekly dose of ballet updates:

Ballet Shows: Last week was a treat! I caught "The Nutcracker" at Birmingham Royal Ballet. A performance that was enchanting, moving, and utterly delightful. The talent on that stage was inspiring!

Ballet Classes: I recently had a private lesson with a truly remarkable instructor! She really encouraged me to think outside the box, experimenting with more dynamic poses and incorporating a bit more of my personal style into the routine. Let’s just say, this week, I am definitely feeling the pink-tutu power.

My London Shopping Spree: Fashion Finds

One of the best parts about visiting London is indulging in a bit of shopping, right? And who better to find fabulous pink tutu-inspired outfits for you than me!

Here are a few must-haves I found:

A Pink Ballerina Dress: Perfect for twirling on a date or a girls’ night out! Imagine it with a pair of chic black heels and a bright pink lipstick. Dreamy, right?

Sparkly Pink Earrings: Every girl needs a pair of statement earrings. You know how I love adding a touch of glam. These babies, with their shimmering crystals, caught my eye the minute I saw them. They’re so versatile!

Tutu-inspired Pink Skirt: Not just for ballet class, folks! A tulle skirt, whether pink or a pastel shade, will bring instant Parisian-inspired flair to any outfit. Just pair it with a crisp white top or a bold blazer, and you're ready to hit the town.

Pink Bow Tie: Adding a touch of girly to a menswear-inspired outfit? This is your key. It adds a touch of playfulness to the most traditional looks!

And of course, a London trip wouldn’t be complete without a new pink tutu! I stumbled upon this little boutique in Kensington and fell in love with this stunning piece of pink perfection. It has layers upon layers of shimmering tulle, making it truly a dance-worthy dream.

Pink Tutus Around the World

Okay, my darlings, you know I’m always talking about making the world a more pink and sparkly place. And this week, I found so much inspiration. So many amazing folks embraced their inner Tutu.

From the amazing women I met on the London tube rocking their pink tutus as they headed to their jobs (seriously, why not?!) to that one lady who offered me an extra croissant on the train because she loved my pink tutu (such kindness!), it reminded me: we have the power to brighten anyone's day. It really can be that simple, can't it?

And don’t forget – you can wear pink tutus for EVERYTHING. Not just ballet class! The sky is the limit, folks! Dress like your best, most authentic self, embrace the joy of movement, and spread the magic!

Don’t forget to check in next week for another week of #PinkTutuBlogLondon fun. See you next Friday, my darlings!

Until then, stay pink and twirl happily!
