Pink Tutu Blog London #1206: A Friday in the Capital, All Pink and Twirling!
Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing travel blogger, Emma, here, and I'm back from another whirlwind trip to London, this time for a fabulous Friday full of pink, fashion, and, of course, ballet! As always, I took the train down from Derbyshire, which I always find so wonderfully calming. I love settling in with my favourite book and watching the countryside flit by, my pink tutu swirling gently in the rhythm of the tracks. Itās a truly magical feeling!
The capital greeted me with a sunny sky and that special buzz that only London can offer. I decided to make the most of the weather, starting my day with a lovely walk around Hyde Park. There's nothing like the fresh air and greenery of the park to awaken the senses. I found a cute little spot near the Serpentine where I practiced a few pliĆ©s and even did a graceful twirl or two! I canāt imagine being in a big city and not getting outside at some point, especially with a tutu in tow. I must have turned quite a few heads.
I spotted the cutest little flower stall on my walk and just had to pick myself a pink posy - because what else is there?
My pink outfit, of course, involved a beautifully vibrant shade of pink tulle. My tutu, perfectly twirly, was paired with a classic pink blouse and my go-to pair of kitten heels. London is the perfect city to wear pink - it's bold, bright and really adds that touch of whimsical elegance to any outfit!
Lunch was an absolute delight at a charming little cafe in Kensington. I savored a delicate sandwich (tuna, obviously! So British!), washed down with a pot of fragrant Earl Grey tea. My sweet treat was, of course, a pink raspberry cupcake, the perfect touch of sugary happiness to my already delightful day!
After lunch, it was time to venture to the West End, that magical haven of lights and performances. I was incredibly excited because the much-anticipated āMoulin Rougeā musical had finally opened! This show had been in the news since forever and everyone in the dance world seemed to be buzzing about it. I am quite the aficionado when it comes to theatrical productions, especially ones with elaborate costumes and vibrant music, and I knew I had to be there on opening night. The stage was alive with color, energy, and pure theatre magic. It was an absolute spectacle of music, dance and extravagant costuming. It's a must-see for any theatre fan, Iād say. I donāt usually do reviews but itās just too good to keep to myself!
After the show, my stomach started to rumble. I headed to the ever-so-charming Liberty London, a real treat for my eyes. Not only do they have a stunning range of beautifully designed garments and homewares, but I managed to find the perfect pink vintage silk scarf. It's something to really spice up any outfit! And you can never go wrong with silk ā just ask any ballerina! You can never have enough delicate scarves!
For dinner, I couldn't resist indulging in a beautiful plate of seafood pasta at an Italian restaurant near Leicester Square. London is full of brilliant, delicious places to eat, I love that. A light wine completed the delicious meal and put me in a perfect post-theatre mood.
Of course, my day was not complete without a final ballet practice at a studio near Victoria Station. My fellow dancers and I worked on our barre, some pirouettes and the beautiful ending sequence of our new ballet āThe Magic of The Ballerinaā. This was truly what made the whole London trip worth it. Being with my ballet friends, getting back to basics and knowing that all the travel and spending will be put to good use when we perform soon. This is the reason for all the crazy adventures in London and elsewhere!
I couldnāt quite leave London without at least one nightcap, even after that wonderful meal. There are some incredibly glamorous and interesting places to choose from, so of course I headed back to Kensington to a sophisticated and well-loved speakeasy called the "Blue Room". The ambiance was exquisite, with a very glamorous vintage vibe and music. You really did feel like you had stumbled across something hidden! They have the best cocktails, made with the finest spirits and served by incredibly chic barmen! This, you could say, topped off a really incredible London adventure. I am always thrilled by the capitalās history, the art and fashion scene, and all the people who truly love the buzz that makes the place so special!
And now, darlings, it's time for me to wind down and prepare for another week back in Derbyshire, ready for next weekās adventures! Keep your tutus twirling, embrace your inner sparkle, and until next Friday, happy travelling!
Yours always,
Emma
