Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #1220: A Friday Fling in Fabulous London! 🩰

Hello, darlings! It's Friday and you know what that means... it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! This week, I'm bringing you all the glitz and glam from my trip to the big smoke, London. I hopped on the train from my little corner of Derbyshire and headed straight to the heart of the action.

Oh, how I love a good train journey! There's just something magical about gazing out of the window, watching the countryside blur into a tapestry of green fields and charming villages. This time, the scenery was particularly enchanting - the sunrise painted the sky in a breathtaking palette of pinks and oranges, which, naturally, made me feel all the more sparkly and fabulous. It was almost as if the world was getting ready to welcome a Pink Tutu Queen!

Speaking of sparkling, you know I couldn't leave Derbyshire without a Pink Tutu ensemble! My go-to look for this London adventure was a stunning pastel pink tulle tutu layered over a flowy blush silk dress. A dash of diamante detailing and a pair of sparkling silver heels added a touch of extra magic.

Arriving in London, I felt a wave of excitement! The energy in the air is just electric! You can feel the pulse of the city beating beneath your feet, and the air hums with a million different stories waiting to unfold. I felt like the main character in my own enchanting movie, twirling down the platform towards the heart of London’s magic.

Of course, my first stop was the Royal Opera House, a temple of graceful artistry that never fails to inspire me. The iconic facade of the building alone is enough to make a ballet fanatic swoon, but stepping inside was an absolute dream. The grand foyer is a symphony of gilded details, velvet carpets and elegant arches. Just being in such a glorious space felt like entering a world of pure magic.

This week, the Royal Opera House was showcasing the world premiere of The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky, featuring dazzling choreography and mesmerising music that had my heart beating like a rapid tempo. The stage was a kaleidoscope of colour, and the dancers were exquisite in their fiery costumes. It was an absolute masterpiece, the perfect reminder of why ballet is the art form closest to my heart.

But it wasn't just the ballet that captivated me in London this time. My love of fashion, and all things pink, of course, had me venturing into the world of high-end boutiques and vintage treasures. My personal favourites were the charming boutiques hidden away on tucked away backstreets, full of delightful finds and independent designers. One little shop, called 'Twirl and Sparkle', caught my eye with its shelves lined with whimsical tutus and shimmering sequins. It was a haven for any Pink Tutu Queen like myself, and I left with a charming pink feather boa, a vibrant coral hat with a matching fascinator, and a brand new pink velvet clutch bag!

I couldn't leave London without embracing the iconic theatre scene. On Friday evening, I found myself utterly enchanted at the London Palladium! It was the perfect night for some dazzling musical theatre, and this week's performance of "We Will Rock You" certainly lived up to its name!

I was thoroughly impressed by the singing, dancing and staging. I was transported back to the Queen days with vibrant rock-n-roll energy and fabulous costumes. You know me, darling, my weakness is a good sparkly costume! I was so inspired by the energy and joy of the show. I wanted to run out, shout to the heavens and say "Queen!" at the top of my lungs, but I resisted... for now!

Speaking of Queen, it’s actually the anniversary of the band's “We Are The Champions” reaching number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, which it did in January 1978, so I was particularly happy to be experiencing the musical.

No trip to London is complete without experiencing the bustling energy of its streets! So, after my evening of theatrical delight, I embarked on a moonlit stroll through the heart of London. My pink tutu swirled around me as I ambled down cobblestone streets and ducked into cosy pubs. The city felt alive with music, laughter and the gentle clinking of glasses.

For any fellow tutu lovers out there, one must-do in London is a visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum. Not only is it a treasure trove of history and culture, but they actually have a collection of antique tutus in their fashion collection! You know I had to take a few twirls amongst the gowns and tapestries, imagining all the beautiful dancers who’d once worn them.

By the time I was back on my train to Derbyshire, my head was buzzing with all the magic and sparkle of London. The city has truly stolen my heart with its beautiful buildings, its fascinating history, and the incredible energy that thrums through its streets.

I'm already planning my next London escapade, and you bet I'll be returning with a whole new wardrobe of pink and glittery finds. I am aiming for my readers to start thinking of London in the same way I do - as a vibrant, exciting city bursting with creativity and joy. The perfect place to be a Pink Tutu Queen, spreading joy, fun, and fashion one tutu at a time!
