This week, I swapped my Derbyshire hills for the glittering streets of London town, and trust me, it was a dream. Now, some might ask, "Emma, why the train journey for London?" Well, dear readers, there's a certain romance to train travel, wouldn't you agree? The rhythmic chug-chug of the engine, the passing scenery, the whispered secrets and shared glances with fellow travellers - it's all so charming! Plus, it gives me ample opportunity to admire my pink tutu's graceful movements in the reflection of the window. 😉
Speaking of journeys, my week was packed with those magical moments that make London so special. And of course, being the dedicated ballet enthusiast that I am, I started with a dreamy performance at the Royal Opera House. I opted for a classic high tea, with cucumber sandwiches, scones (with lashings of clotted cream, of course!), and, of course, an abundance of beautifully presented pastries and finger foods. Honestly, it was practically a performance in itself.
Afternoon: London's magic lies not just in its grand buildings but in the vibrant street performers. I found myself captivated by a talented busker at Covent Garden, his musical artistry transporting me to another world. You can tell when someone loves what they do, and his passion shone through his every note.
Evening: The magic continued in the West End, with a spectacular production of "Wicked". The elaborate costumes, the soaring vocals, the powerful message - it left me awestruck. This show is a must-see for any fan of musical theatre, and it certainly ignited my love for all things pink and green. (Green is my second favourite colour, you know!)
