#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2020-12-11: Exploring the Capital in a Whirlwind of Pink!

Hello, darlings! Welcome back to #PinkTutuBlogLondon, where every Friday we celebrate life, fashion, and the magic of the ballet in a world overflowing with pink! This is post number 1267, and it's a little bit extra special, because I'm writing it from the heart of London! Yes, my dears, I took a glorious train ride down from Derbyshire and am embracing the bustling energy of the Big Smoke in all its festive glory.

A Tutu-tastic Train Journey

If you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed with the pressures of the day-to-day, hop on a train. The rhythm of the wheels and the ever-changing scenery outside your window have a wonderfully calming effect, especially when you're wrapped in your favourite pink fluffy scarf, and a tutu peeks out beneath your winter coat, reminding you of all the wonderful things you have planned for the weekend!

Today's train journey was a true dream. As we sped along, I caught a glimpse of a snowy landscape – a true fairytale sight – just as the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm orange glow across the countryside. It was pure magic, and I found myself reflecting on all the lovely people I've met in my journey to becoming a ballerina and a blogger. It really makes you feel so incredibly grateful!

London Calling: Adventures in the Big City

I arrived at King's Cross Station, feeling a thrill of excitement that only London can evoke. The hustle and bustle, the colourful lights, and the endless opportunities… it's enough to make even the most seasoned ballerina spin!

My first stop? Of course, a trip to Fortnum & Mason – how could I resist those stunning Christmas decorations? It's like stepping into a wonderland of Christmas magic, all adorned with sparkling lights, baubles and ribbons in a festive frenzy! There was a glorious gingerbread house, the aroma of roasted chestnuts filling the air, and enough pink Christmas decorations to make even Santa Claus blush! I must admit, a couple of delightful pink baubles and a shimmering Christmas card found their way into my shopping bag. They'll look divine adorning my Christmas tree, along with a pink tinsel garland that will add the perfect "extra" to my Christmas decor.

Ballet by Candlelight: A Magical Evening at Sadler's Wells

The evening was just beginning, and after a pitstop for afternoon tea (with an extra scone just for the occasion, naturally), I headed to Sadler's Wells, the famous London theater known for its stunning productions. I’d come all this way to catch a performance of "Giselle", and I’m not going to lie - I was beyond excited!

I adore the romantic story of "Giselle", but this evening was particularly special, as it was a candlelit production. The theater was illuminated only by flickering candlelight, which added a haunting and magical atmosphere to the ballet. It was the kind of performance that stays with you long after the final curtain, a true testament to the beauty and emotion of classical ballet.

The performers were absolutely incredible! I couldn't tear my eyes away from the intricate movements, the sheer athleticism, and the captivating storytelling through their dance. One moment that particularly stood out was Giselle’s mad scene; the ballerina's delicate movements and poignant expression were truly heartbreaking.

After the performance, I wandered through the streets of London, feeling exhilarated by the day’s adventures. The city lights shimmered and the sounds of music, laughter and the festive cheer of Londoners drifted through the crisp winter air, bringing warmth to a chilly evening.

London Style: The Shopping Chronicles

Every fashionista knows the magic of a shopping spree in London. And how could I resist the temptation to delve into the stylish boutiques and bustling market stalls?

My day started in the charming neighbourhood of Notting Hill, where the pastel-coloured houses and bohemian vibes already felt like a wonderland of their own. I am not exaggerating, ladies - it’s truly the most stylish neighbourhood! I picked up a couple of floral brooches for my tutu collection – they are going to be perfect for spring, darling! – and a delightful, brightly patterned vintage scarf to wear on those chilly evenings at the ballet.

Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a stop at Liberty. Stepping into that beautiful store, with its magnificent stained glass dome, felt like walking into a fairytale – all timber, mosaics and wonderful treasures. The scent of scented candles was heavenly!

Looking Ahead: The Future is Pink!

As I boarded the train back to Derbyshire, the glow of the evening lights danced across the countryside and a sense of contentedness filled me. My heart overflowed with memories, filled with the wonder and magic that London holds in every corner.

So many lovely moments - and I didn't even have time to explore Covent Garden or take a whirl around the carousel at Hyde Park! I’ll have to save that for another visit.

I am always drawn back to London. The energy, the culture, the food – and most importantly – the endless possibilities! I have ballet shows to attend, musicals to watch, shopping to indulge in, new places to discover, and endless tutu-themed adventures waiting to be unravelled.

As you know, my dearest friends, my passion for pink and my love for ballet have always driven me, and this city feels like the ultimate playground for a pink tutu-clad ballerina like myself.

I'm back in Derbyshire now, dreaming of all my upcoming London adventures! And I know you will be joining me for more stories from the pink tutu’s perspective, from all over the world.

And remember: Life is always brighter in pink!

Stay chic, darlings!
