Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 1268 - A London Daydream in Pink

Hello my gorgeous darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-tastic traveller Emma, back from a whirlwind trip to London! My oh my, what a week it’s been. This Friday, I took a little break from the daily grind of Derbyshire and hopped on a train, all the way to London town. It’s just so fabulous being in the heart of it all, and I thought you lovely lot should share in the adventure.

Now, you all know that pink is my absolute jam, and London’s streets are practically an extension of my favourite colour palette! Everywhere you look, it’s just popping out: those cute pink post boxes, the fluffy pink clouds (it was a blustery day!), and of course, the array of beautiful pink garments just waiting for me to steal their hearts
and by that, I mean, I was totally ready to shop till I dropped.

Before we get to all that, let’s talk about the grand entry: arriving in London by train! Nothing beats the anticipation, the clattering wheels, and the sheer excitement as you see the London skyline slowly unfold in all its glory. I always try to choose a window seat, so I can soak up all the views as I approach King’s Cross – that grand Victorian station always makes me feel like I’ve stepped into a Jane Austen novel.

Once I was all settled, my first stop was a trip to Covent Garden. My absolute favourite place in the world. Can you blame me? Ballet galore, dazzling lights, and endless opportunities to channel my inner Prima Ballerina! Even if I can’t grace the stage at the Royal Opera House myself, I just adore immersing myself in the whole ballet experience. From watching rehearsals through the glass windows, to swooning over the outfits on display in the shop, Covent Garden is truly the Mecca for every ballerina, no matter what their level!

I decided to treat myself to a delicious cuppa (gotta stay hydrated!) and people watched at a quaint cafĂ© nestled amidst the bustle of the market. It was here that I bumped into a little surprise: an impromptu street ballet performance! A troupe of young dancers were executing intricate pirouettes and graceful leaps with such enthusiasm it was utterly charming. That’s what London is all about, isn’t it? Unexpected moments of beauty and grace right in the middle of the hustle and bustle!

Now, on to the real meat of the matter – SHOPPING! My shopping journey started at one of my all-time favourite department stores, Liberty London. Just walking into that building is a treat in itself - it's like a gothic cathedral with endless floors of treasure! The scent of flowers and perfume hits you first, then you’re surrounded by everything your heart could possibly desire. Of course, my eyes immediately gravitated towards their magnificent collection of exquisite pink dresses! You guys know my love for florals, so naturally, I couldn’t resist snagging a few pieces for my wardrobe – think flowing silk fabrics with delicate floral patterns in shades of pink, with hints of lavender and peach – oh my, just dreamy!

But my journey didn’t stop there! I made my way to Oxford Street, with its endless rows of shops promising all sorts of fashion goodies. I think I might have wandered around for hours, window shopping and letting my imagination run wild with outfits that are practically begging to be bought. Let’s just say my wallet may be feeling a little lightheaded but my heart is full.

As the sun began to set, casting an ethereal glow over London’s landmarks, I hopped onto a double-decker bus to take in the beauty of the cityscape. That view of the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye all lit up in the twilight is simply unforgettable. As I rolled along, I thought to myself, how perfectly suited is a tutu for an evening like this! It just wouldn’t be the same without that little bit of feminine whimsy. So I dreamt of taking a picture on the Tower Bridge, me twirling in my tutu with the iconic silhouette behind me – pure London magic, if I do say so myself!

Oh, but my little adventure didn’t stop with London’s charming sights! This being a Friday, my inner ballerina couldn’t resist attending a special show at the West End. The name is “Strictly Ballroom”, and my word, was it stunning! You’ll have to catch the next show to witness the breathtaking dances, beautiful costumes, and the hilarious script! If there was any doubt left about how much I love London, this cemented my affection for the city. It’s simply bursting with culture and entertainment that appeals to the dance enthusiast in all of us!

The evening culminated with a delicious meal at a charming little Italian restaurant near Covent Garden. My friends back in Derbyshire wouldn’t believe me if I told them how many pizzas I devoured (let’s just say it involved multiple slices and a cheeky glass of bubbly!)

So, you might be thinking, "How did you manage to squeeze in so much fun in one day, Emma?" Well, that’s the beauty of London - you can always find a little bit of magic if you know where to look! Plus, I always budget carefully, with all my dance performances earning me a little travel allowance! There’s a magic to being financially independent, knowing you can use your talents to explore the world and see everything it has to offer.

Before I hopped back onto the train, I promised myself I'd be back. Because you just can’t get enough of London, not when there’s so much left to explore! It's that infectious energy, the blend of history and modern culture, the constant bustle – it makes you feel like anything is possible. And honestly, that’s my ultimate mission, you know, to get everyone feeling empowered, confident and fabulous enough to don a tutu and dance their hearts out.

London’s been a constant source of inspiration for my own style and dance routine, and it makes me feel like anything is possible. After all, in this city of dreams, even a tutu-wearing blogger like me can have the most amazing adventure! So keep on dancing, my darlings! Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t chase your dreams – because we all deserve a little pink tutu magic!
